Peter Hanenberger, previous Managing Director of Holden, was the suspension engineer for Holden in the 70s. It's because of him that Kingswoods hugely improved, and Commodores got off to a brilliant start. When he retired to his native Germany, rumour has it he had the factory custom build him an LHD Monaro, with its engine and suspension tuned to his specs. Would be interesting to see that one
i've always asked myself if it doesn't it feel weird to switch gears, adjust the air con or the radio with your left hand? i mean 80% of us are right-hander. I would never get used to a steering wheel on the right side!
If only we had roads like that here. Being right handed myself, i know i'd rather have my right hand on the steering wheel at all times & if i had to change gears or do something less important like the aircon or stereo, do that with my left hand...
@ingemeiselfanclub no not really it would be much the same going from right hand drive to left hand drive and doing what your talking about with the right hand
@Caly2c well, in germany we are not really in v8 cars. and a monaro is a very "special" car. so, i guess not. would have been different, if he drove a supra or a skyline or a bmw X6 M or something
Good driving, but it must be fustrating to ride behind bone head at 3:51. The idiot cant even pull to the side. I really hate drivers like that, for they are the one who cause accidents.
hey mate you reckon you could bring that beast down to freiburg sometime or if your passing through and i'm going somewhere you would be the best for the old mitfahrgelegenheit,
any way nice ride bro i've wanted tobring on of those over for years.
we should put you and your Monaro in the local newspaper, that the people will move right earlier when you are flying on the Autobahn. They only know VW Golf 1.6. And most important: be aware of drivers with a hat on - they only go to third gear!
great job bazpics! you know that its still a hlden underneath though hehe they were actually made just down the road where i live in adelaide south australia. keep up the vids and look foward to seeing it go around the ring!!! go aussie muscle !!! haha
Skout - yes, the car is originally from Australia, it was imported into the UK where I am from, so it has the same right hand drive steering wheel as it came from the factory with.
Yeah, I've already had her out on a couple of different tracks already back in the UK and Ireland so that I could "safely and legally" throw the rear end out without having to worry about Granny Smith with her 20 year old fiat tottering round a corner on my side of things while fixing her makeup at the same time :)
When you take it to The Ring - and you there's no others in close vicinity - be sure to whip out some powerslides. Those beasts are so controllable and easy to maneuver in a slide, and just sheer joy.
Yeah, in general there is a good sense of what's around a lot of the drivers out in continental europe, don't get me wrong there's still plenty of halfwitts out there, but thankfully they seem to be in the minority :)
This is my fav street car on Gran Turismo 5. Cool car man!
