fantastic artwork man, im 20 yrs old and i'm just starting to draw comic book style, i've been drawing cartoons for so long that this is completely new to me....but im not gunna get discouraged, watching ur vids really makes me wanna push harder and get better fast......
excellent how many comics did you make? i am going to make my own comic but with my own characters...hmm ill just take personalities from people i know. please reply, you always do haha thats why i talk to you, its good to know that you have time for your fans! and thats why i respect you!
Omg, I love seeing your pictures of how you hold your pencil when you were young, So cool. I drew like you to back in my age, but worse.Half of the time it looked like that I had a spazzm while I was drawing a picture. I LOVE THE JACK NICHOLSAN JOKER! AND THE COMICS, AND THE RIDDLER AND THE PENGUIN, AND EVERYTHING FROM SINCE YOU WERE ZERO TO 20!
Thank you very much for the kind words! I still have a lot more art fom past years, as well. I had to be selective to make the video a manageable length.
Hi! I really am not that good at explaining how I draw like I do. Basically, I just kind of imagine what I intend to draw and then start drawing it. The picture never looks exactly as I envision it, but sometimes it gets close. As for shading, thye thing to keep in mind is lighting and textures, and using thinner and thicker lines to denote depth. Thanks for the kind comment!
My God...You had amazing detail in your early teens...I still cant shade that well!
You developed so fast so eary...My art didn't take off until about...7 years ago at age 15? When I finally found my niche in Manga. God, man...The backgrounds are amazing...
Ah, this shows a lot, and it gives hope to a lot of artist out there that are just starting to know even professionals start out with something that isn't perfect.
Great collection of work man, keep up the good work, ^^.
why don't you work as a comic artist i mean u are obviously a master on the field of comics. i have also one question: how many years does is take to get to a professional level if u are just starting out?. thanks in advance
I think the time depends on the person. As you can see in this video, I started very young. I would not say that I came close to being professional level until I was 17, but that would be different, I'm sure, if I started at an older age. Thaks for the kind comment! -- Matt
Thank you very much! It shows, I guess, that practice can make a difference. The older I got, the more I observed that which was around me. I appreciate you watching and commenting! -- Matt
Such a cutie wutie pie! OMG! Awesome video!!!! Your art is REALLY good. I am a true fan of your artwork, not just your comedy. (I am a huge fan of that too!) Keep it up! Yaaay!
(Alt. title could be: Portrait of the artist as a young man). Seems like your work started to transform around 15 and by 16 you were practically at professional level. (then kept honing/refining your skills) Thought I saw a strong Perez influence around 16/17.
Do you mean the editing? I'm not really good at explaining how to do things, but I use a video editing program to put the images together. Thanks! -- Matt
nonono i mean the drawing.. heh heh heh its really hard. ur my idol when it comes to drawing though!! and i just wondered if u could tell me how to get started.
In know it sounds cliche, but the best thing to do is draw, draw, draw. As you can see, I started pretty young, and age and experience and practice all helped to make me grow as an artist. Also, you should observe things in real life, scenery, people, etc., and think about things like perspective and anatomy. Thank you so much for watching! I appreciate it! -- Matt
Well, I do have one that could inflate differnt parts of himself. It's kinda silly, but he was a fun character. It's hard to come up with a truly unique ability, but I have made vairiations of known powers that were a bit different in how they were used. -- Matt
First off, as an artist myself, it's always great to see how someone developed over their life. Secondly. Wow, man... It looks as though you were doing kiddie drawings one day and BAM! All of the sudden you are an AMAZINGLY skilled comics style artist! I'm blown away, man. GREAT VIDEO! And I'm jealous... I've never mastered the comic style...
Hi Buliwif! Thanks for the kind words! I'd love to see some of your art! When choosing what art to display on this video, I mainly used art that was dated. I can tell what year most of my stuff was drawn by the style, but there are a few that I couldn't swear by, so I passed on using them in the video. I had literally over a thousand pages to go through. Thanks again! -- Matt
Wow! You sir are a great artist fer shore! Very cool video Matt :D The music rawks too! Thanks for sharin' this part of of your life with us. Amazin' Peace & Health to you & yours
It was obviously in your blood, because already at age 3, you did a damn fine snoopy. It annoys me that you were a better artist at 14 than I will ever be. And who is that kid that shows up when you turn 15? Sibling?
cool!

And in the end of the video the drawings gets more of your personal touch.
