@ThePerm The main reason is (i think) because I honestly don't think it will sell. I can hook my guitar up with my computer via a usb soundcard, Then I can use Amplitube to tune my guitar, it can hear if the tone is correct or not on the strings, so when I tune it up or down on my guitar, the meters change on the screen.. If a plugin software can react like this, so can this. Play the right notes, and the game will keep on playing.
And are we deciding to ignore accentuation? Harmonics? Difference of octaves? Legato? The millions of tiny accidental inflections a human puts upon an instrument's sound which makes such a software endeavour far more than a simple sound frequency detection exercise?
Also the applications of this kind of technology would be astounding. For a start you could process an audio file back into it's master copy. If this technology was easy to grasp people would be all over it like a rash.
@zaker144 Yeah, I've been fearing the same thing. I've seen promos for Power Gig, which is a similar concept, but it will only be available on 360 and I think PS3. Not only that, but it looks like you'll have to use either one of their own guitars or a rb/gh guitar (which completely defeats the purpose). The reason I'm lead to believe this is the guitars are wired to double as a controller.
OK, i have GH3 and this looks like much more cooler. I play a real guitar and this could help a bit. This is good for beginners who wants to play guitar well...

this really is like an auto scroll for tabs... i mean i like the idea, especially when it actually tells you if you are playing right...but maybe they should have made it with sheet music, that way you can play the note anywhere, which i assume you can as this looks for specific pitch not the actual string you play.

Its educational from a certain perspective. Yes, it teaches you songs, but it also gets you used to fretting different notes, albeit it doesn't tell you "Ok, now make a D-minor chord to hit these three notes easier," like you would see with tablature. At this point their biggest selling point is that they'll get people who's Squiers and Epiphones are gathering dust to pick them up again. Then again, the developer might include a learning mode with the game, with user mods it could be huge.
Well it all depends on what you mean by "learning mode." I meant something that could teach you guitar, sort of like having interactive lessons, as opposed to a learning mode that just teaches you how to play the game. No telling what/how well a person could learn from these kinds of lessons.
yeah but it will be fun to learn them and jam in the game to get highscores and higher difficulty you know its like pushing yourself to be better at the guitar to be the best at this game for me its a cool way to make guitarrist push themselves and its also cool for newbies to get used to the fretboard instead of being stuck with open chords for an eternity

the web site said that they're putting a tutorial in the beginning of the game,is that what you meant as a "learning mode" for the game?

Well it all depends on what you mean by "learning mode." I meant something that could teach you guitar, sort of like having interactive lessons, as opposed to a learning mode that just teaches you how to play the game. No telling what/how well a person could learn from these kinds of lessons.

yeah but it will be fun to learn them and jam in the game to get highscores and higher difficulty you know its like pushing yourself to be better at the guitar to be the best at this game for me its a cool way to make guitarrist push themselves and its also cool for newbies to get used to the fretboard instead of being stuck with open chords for an eternity
