Roach became Manny's trainer 2001, when Manny went to USA to look for a trainer... Manny went almost door-to-door from the east coast to the west coast, in almost every major boxing gym in the US, but nobody wanted to accept him.. until Manny decided to give it one last try in LA at wildcard gym..that was it.. their first fight together was when Manny was notified 2 weeks before the fight to become a late replacement for championship match against Champ Lehdwaba where Manny won by 6th rnd KO

Anybody know's how roach came to be manny's trainer in the first place? seems that he has been his trainer since 2001 while manny was still fighting in ASIA. the earliest one i can find in YT is the singsurat bout where roach is defientely already pacquaios trainer at that point.

something like pacquiao came to america after becoming asian champion, was training in a different gym every day, couldn't get anyone to take him on until roach saw him...
