  • Omg tutorial please. Or at least a video with the camera showing the keys more. Beautiful.

  • so very beautiful, I could hear the violins playing along with you. Hope you hear my clapping and see my standing ovation.

  • I took a go at this piece as well. Really liked your interpretation though especially at the end how you slowed it down to a crawl. It adds more drama that way. Nice job!

  • I love all of Rachmaninoff's piano concertos. This is beautiful :)

  • beautiful! i just hope that you played it with a violin so that it would be more romantic or more enchanting. nonetheless.. a wonderful piece! :D

  • thank you

  • i dont suppose theres any chance of you doing a tutorial on this piece of music? :L

  • you're amazing! i love this song soo much and i really want to play it. i found the sheet music and its a little advanced for me but im going to give it a shot anyway. great job! :)

  • @BBsmileys Any chance you could link me the sheet music :P :) ?

  • wow while you play this I naturally just heard all the orchestra playing over it in my head. Your touch to the piano is fantastic. Nice one chief

  • I love all portions.. this struck as the most romantic portion though

  • Incredible Playing. I really like your emphasiz on the different parts.

Could you please tell me which notes you used to learn it since there's multiple notes on the internet but i wanna make sure i play the exact same version as you :P

Thanks a lot, your help is much appreciated :)

  • @BugattiJoe Thanks Joe! It's a brilliant melody, certainly one of the best of all time. Not sure which version I used, I read it years ago and it's slowly changed into this version. Someone lower in the comments claimed to have sheet music for it... take a look!

  • @joolsscott

Thanks for the answer, I know bought the Version of the Roosey& Hawkes Publishing or something like that. It's in a light blue color with a white rachmaninoff face on the cover it comes pretty close to the notes you are playing, the rest i'll have to improvise and compose myself i guess :)

Thanks a lot :) And again, beautifully played !!!

  • That was played so beautifully. Thanks for posting it.

  • Did you just sit at the piano and entertain everyone? That is so cool!

  • Someone please tell me what movie I have heard this in, its biting at me and I cant put my finger on it. Wonderful playing sir! It's very disturbing that no one clapped, most people don't know beauty when its starring them in the face. Too busy stuffing their mouths with food and wine I suppose.

  • @satriani32 Of course ... One the most romantic Scifi movie of our time. Somewhere In time with Christopher Reeve. Now if I can just get the Piano only version sheet ... Anyone ?

  • @satriani32 Somewhere In Time....this was my parents' wedding song :)

  • @satriani32 this song is at least 2 movies that I know: «Somewhere in Time» with Christopher Reeves and in «Groundhog Day» with Bill Murray (two of my favorites movies ^^ )

  • Beautiful, shame no one clapped, even if it is a restaurant.

  • god bless you!!!, one question..how can i get the score of this interpretation?

  • Wow, I am trying to learn this piece; you inspire me to keep trying at it!

  • i love how the only thing this one guy can bring himself to say is - "you're not playing all the notes."

    1. i'm sure the pianist is well aware of what he is and isn't playing

    2. it was breath-taking nonetheless

    what an asinine comment.

    thanks for posting!

  • I wouldn't be able to eat, I would be fixed, listening to this excellent tune so well played.

  • simply incredible

  • Wow! Thanks

  • I'm suprised noone clapped after that performance. Were they busy eating?

  • Beautiful...thank you.

  • Bravo!

  • It's so beautiful! Ever since I was a little child in C. Amer. I've been crazy about that music. I heard it over the radio, but never knew the title of the piece. ...and only heard bits and pieces since then.

Strange, how I just found it.

  • People eating, and talking. It's the famous Pump Rooms in Bath, a historical hall where mad King George and his subjects used to spend the summer back in the olden days, it's now a restaurent. There's a lovely piano!

  • @joolsscott Jool I would love if you could send me some link to share this, I will give a recital and this is faboulous for that, I hope your answer. Congrats, awesome perform.

  • @goldmember888 LOL really!!??

  • You're not playing all the notes

  • Nope!

  • @Arfat Well, my humble opinion is don't need to play all the notes, only make it harder and very noisy and can't differentiate the real melody, sub melody and accompaniment... But

@joolsscott, slight suggestion, emphasize a bit more the sub melodies like in bar 7 (Ab Gb F Gb) :)

  • me encantaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • Fantastic rendition :) play on...

  • このピアノの音色やわらかくって好みです。

  • Please share the sheet music. Great performance

  • Where have I heard this before? Yes, I know it's the theme from "Somewhere in Time." I love this rendition.

  • the sheetmusic? where is the sheetmusic of this transcryption?, this is a good one. Share it please, so all of we can play that beutiful piece.

  • Rachmaninov's been dead for less than 70 years so his estate still owns publishing copyright, if u want sheet music go out and buy it. It's available from all good online retailers. :)

    Diane Strain

  • wow, ur sooo good! i'm playing this for a recital, and mine's not sounding quite as good as urs, :3 and to kwmountainbikers i've only taken piano for two years and i've sight read the whole thing purdy well, so...XD

  • hey me too! haha

  • lol me too!

  • is that hard to play??

    i want to learn it.

where i can see the video with the fingering?

  • i'm assuming if you ask for the video with the fingering its to hard for you to play. No offense but this would be a hard piece to learn unless you've taken lessons for a number of years

  • ^^^^^

    lol!!!

  • It's the best version! Love it!

  • Your triplet must be slower or ur l" must be faster.

  • это божественно

  • спасибо!

  • это божественно

  • это божественно

  • I don't even know what you look like but I am IN LOVE! HA! This is one of my favourite songs ever. Just beautiful!

  • i want the sheet music =[

  • i can play the first part because you can download the first page for free. Quick question, do you need large hands to be able to play after the first page? I'd like to buy the complete sheet music but i won't bother if you need large hands. Please let me know, thanks

  • You don't really need big hands; the longest stretch is at the end where you have to reach an octave plus one and a half steps (This chord is rolled anyways).

  • Ok great, thanks

  • I used to skate to this lol ,

    Love it!! x

  • yes this is very good, but your playing it too fast, if i were too learn this, i would slow it down to the speed its supposed t be played at...

  • this is very true, i agree.

I must record it again at the correct slower tempo.

    thanks for your comment.

  • Your interpretation is perfect.

  • I am performing this piece on the 11th march, and I do take this variation quite slow, but... it all depends on the tempo you take the rest of the piece. Although I really like the way you play this variation, it sounds convincing.

  • Good job! relaxing

  • Noise in the background - thumbs down

  • The moron Maksim at last is a good excuse for hear a good pianist...

Were is the Horowitz interpretation in this litle tube?

  • Hey man, beautiful job! Bravo.

drogangod, shut the hell up. Obviously, you are the one with some issues.

  • this song is amazing. im doing this piece for solo and ensemble at my school and its very nice to hear it from someone other than my teacher

  • Wow that comment from drogangod was RU-UDEE. Dang. o_x

Well I just wanted to say thank you for posting this because I got this piece for an audition to a music school and I wanted to hear what it sounded like.

    You are really good =D

  • u have done very well

  • This is one of my favorite songs. <3

  • I don't think they 'fade it out' like may have mentioned. If you listen to it you can still hear the background noise. In my opinion, which is not backed up by any creditable science or such so don't get mad at me, the reason it seems to 'fade out' towards the middle is that the music gets louder, and people near the piano stop to listen a bit.

  • I'm sorry about the noise. It certainly isn't added by me though my friend, all the videos I've put up so far on YouTube are live performances in busy restaurants where I play at the weekend, hence the talking in the background. I'm glad you enjoyed my playing, thanks for the interesting comments. Cheers, Jools.

  • you are such a tool!

  • whats all that sound in the background? how come you added that in..... on All you videos.?

  • Wow, absolutely wonderful. A shame all that cafeteria-like noise is in the background.

  • awesome!

  • Most famous Retrograde Inversion ever?

    Probably. Certainly the most profitable.

  • but this isnt serialism is it? explain!

  • Bu, but, a Retrograde Inversion is a piece that's been inverted, and can be played backwards aaaaand forwards, so, it just, it mregerhmerhm!

    *head explosion*

  • ha ok sorry for the exploding head i have only heard the term retrograde inversion used about serialism! haha

  • WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Craziness

  • It's a famous Retrograde Inversion, this piece =D

  • Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

    Francisco Araújo

  • I LOVE THIS - where can I get the sheet music for it?????? I would love to play it myself

  • Who composed the jazzed-up version of this? Was it Andrew Lloyd Weber?

  • Phil Collins in Groundhog Day.

  • Absolutely the reason I fell in love with this song...

  • My all-time favorite piece of music. Watch Somewhere in Time for a really beatiful version of it. You have to hear it with strings. Nice playing.

  • Totally agree! I've got the somewhwere in time soundtrack & it's excellent.

  • Beautiful. So much feeling in it! Your emotions really come out!

  • terrific piano playing to say the least. i was and still am utterly captured...

  • a stunning performance

will your website be up and running anytime soon?

  • Yep, the website will be back very soon. I've changed hosts and it's been off for 2 weeks. Sorry! I'm glad you enjoyed the performance, thank you.

  • I first heard it in Ronin. The scene when that ice skater get greased by the sniper if anyone managed to catch it.

  • I love this piece of music! I first heard on a scene from Groundhog Day played by Bill Murray (suposidly).... I cant wait till I can play it as good you. IM BLOWN AWAY!!!!

  • waaAh! Where can i get the sheet musics???

  • If anyone wants the sheetmusic let me know your email address. i will forward it to you.

  • WOW that is a gorgeous performance, my deepest admiration and compliments!

  • they played this song in the movie Somewhere in Time with Christopher Reeves.

  • It's Reeve - no 's'.

  • are u playing to a restaurant?

  • Very nice but like it slower...

  • Yep, I agree. Sometimes I have a tendency to rush things, I'll have to post a response video with a more appropriate tempo. Thanks for listening xx
