I took a go at this piece as well. Really liked your interpretation though especially at the end how you slowed it down to a crawl. It adds more drama that way. Nice job!
you're amazing! i love this song soo much and i really want to play it. i found the sheet music and its a little advanced for me but im going to give it a shot anyway. great job! :)
Incredible Playing. I really like your emphasiz on the different parts.
Could you please tell me which notes you used to learn it since there's multiple notes on the internet but i wanna make sure i play the exact same version as you :P
@BugattiJoe Thanks Joe! It's a brilliant melody, certainly one of the best of all time. Not sure which version I used, I read it years ago and it's slowly changed into this version. Someone lower in the comments claimed to have sheet music for it... take a look!
Thanks for the answer, I know bought the Version of the Roosey& Hawkes Publishing or something like that. It's in a light blue color with a white rachmaninoff face on the cover it comes pretty close to the notes you are playing, the rest i'll have to improvise and compose myself i guess :)
Someone please tell me what movie I have heard this in, its biting at me and I cant put my finger on it. Wonderful playing sir! It's very disturbing that no one clapped, most people don't know beauty when its starring them in the face. Too busy stuffing their mouths with food and wine I suppose.
@satriani32 Of course ... One the most romantic Scifi movie of our time. Somewhere In time with Christopher Reeve. Now if I can just get the Piano only version sheet ... Anyone ?
@satriani32 this song is at least 2 movies that I know: «Somewhere in Time» with Christopher Reeves and in «Groundhog Day» with Bill Murray (two of my favorites movies ^^ )
It's so beautiful! Ever since I was a little child in C. Amer. I've been crazy about that music. I heard it over the radio, but never knew the title of the piece. ...and only heard bits and pieces since then.
@SavageRick Yes, it is. Can I ask anyone where I can get this Piano version music sheet. My Son wish to learn it. All I can see out there is orchestra version.
People eating, and talking. It's the famous Pump Rooms in Bath, a historical hall where mad King George and his subjects used to spend the summer back in the olden days, it's now a restaurent. There's a lovely piano!
@joolsscott Jool I would love if you could send me some link to share this, I will give a recital and this is faboulous for that, I hope your answer. Congrats, awesome perform.
@Arfat Well, my humble opinion is don't need to play all the notes, only make it harder and very noisy and can't differentiate the real melody, sub melody and accompaniment... But
@joolsscott, slight suggestion, emphasize a bit more the sub melodies like in bar 7 (Ab Gb F Gb) :)
This is gorgeous, I love this piece of music. I'd be so grateful to get hold of the piano sheet music so I can learn it properly. Hope I can play it as well as you

This piece is my favorite piano piece of all time..i am learning to play it and i think its awesome!!!!! I went to a 5 Browns concert with my girlfriend and we both loved this piece, it is so sweet...
Please don't bug this guy for sheet music..you can find it easily enough online by searching...just takes a bit of time...or visit a music store. They will have sheet music.
I've been listening to this for over 15 years..It was also in the movie "Somewhere in Time"...I'm a total romantic. As an artist, I find this music so inspirational!
wow, ur sooo good! i'm playing this for a recital, and mine's not sounding quite as good as urs, :3 and to kwmountainbikers i've only taken piano for two years and i've sight read the whole thing purdy well, so...XD
i'm assuming if you ask for the video with the fingering its to hard for you to play. No offense but this would be a hard piece to learn unless you've taken lessons for a number of years
i can play the first part because you can download the first page for free. Quick question, do you need large hands to be able to play after the first page? I'd like to buy the complete sheet music but i won't bother if you need large hands. Please let me know, thanks
You don't really need big hands; the longest stretch is at the end where you have to reach an octave plus one and a half steps (This chord is rolled anyways).
I am performing this piece on the 11th march, and I do take this variation quite slow, but... it all depends on the tempo you take the rest of the piece. Although I really like the way you play this variation, it sounds convincing.
Wow that comment from drogangod was RU-UDEE. Dang. o_x
Well I just wanted to say thank you for posting this because I got this piece for an audition to a music school and I wanted to hear what it sounded like.
I don't think they 'fade it out' like may have mentioned. If you listen to it you can still hear the background noise. In my opinion, which is not backed up by any creditable science or such so don't get mad at me, the reason it seems to 'fade out' towards the middle is that the music gets louder, and people near the piano stop to listen a bit.
I'm sorry about the noise. It certainly isn't added by me though my friend, all the videos I've put up so far on YouTube are live performances in busy restaurants where I play at the weekend, hence the talking in the background. I'm glad you enjoyed my playing, thanks for the interesting comments. Cheers, Jools.
whats all that backgruond sound? I think you are a good player but you are sad inside. no one really cares for you or listens, so all you have is youtube. you also added that background sound to give the illusion of a crowd when really you just added that on...slowly does it fade away but most people don't realize it, but then you return that illusion background near the end. Interesting. It was fun analyzing you and figuring you out.
