I cant decide if i should play bass or guitar. i have both, but i cant decide which to start on first. ive practiced a little on both with beginners books from the same company. I'm at the point with the guitar to start learning chords, but they're really hard right now. it feels like i can do more with guitar, but i'd feel bad if i just left my bass there after putting about $200 into it (my family had the guitar before the bass, but i bought the bass with my own money)

personally i think there both equally good, depending on the type of music... I just hate it when guitar players rip on bass players

To tell you the truth, guitarists, learn to play a bit of bass. It will strengthen your hands massively, especially if you practice bends on a bass.

I agree and disagree... for some reason its quite natural for a bassist to hate a guitarist and vise versa. Maybe its because the guitarist always thinks he's right and thinks he is leader cause he has 2 more strings.... ever heard of a 6 string bass geez... i love it when a guitarist says he can slap and pop on bass, then ends up doing it stupidly and using open strings cause he cant handle the tension :P (im just blowing off some steam from and encounter today)

i hate how people argue which is harder. Music isn't about difficulty, it's about the feeling behind it. if you prefer the sound of guitar or bass, it doesn't matter, all instruments have their place

I play both bass and guitar.....guitar is alot more fun cuz you dont need a band backing you up but bass is alot harder to master!

funny story, back when i started learning guitar i had a box of pics and my friend (Being a jerkface) threw them at my head for lulz and i lost them all, and so i had to practice with my hands onry. Too lazy to get picks, so now it's easier to play my fingers. A little moar dull but I can sweep pick now with my finger, but a pick feels so wrong @_@

bass is easier than guitar to become 'good' at, but 'mastering' bass is harder than 'mastering' guitar. plus, many people start bass, stick 2 a four string, and remain at that easy level. i'd like to see a guitarist play as well as me on a 6 string bass
