Can somebody please help me. I am taking pictures of a fashion model and I know that professional photographers can connect the camera to a computer with a USB cable. When a photo is taken, the photographer can view it immediately on the computer screen. I am going to use the Canon Vixia HF200 as the camera for the photo shoot. Can someone please tell me how that is done? Thank you kindly.

@tttnytttny Camcorder are not made to take pictures but to shoot movies, a camera, made to take pictures have like 8x more megapixels and therefore, 8x better quality.

@tttnytttny I guess still image of HF200 is about 6MP and a good camera can get more than 12MP and up like to 15 for good one. My 2 year old numeric camera is 7.1MP and do like pictures of 3072x2304 pixels

I have a Canon FS100 ( not HD), quite similar to this camera in order to functions,, When I download the original video from the camera to PC, I obtain 4:3 video sequences but stretched..( not 16:9) . I have to " export"all the video sequences from Image Mixer 3SE,to get real 16:9 in the folder.

The same thing happens for this camcorder? have to " export" the Files , to be able to use the editing Program? ( from MAGIX )

hey im having frame rate issues with this camera and im having trouble finding the answer. just hoping you have the answer. when im recording and play the video back on the camera it looks fine, but when i import it onto my computer using the software it came with, the frame rate is horrible. i have only had this 1 day so far, and i've only shot indoors and at night so its all lamp lit. im really not sure what setting to put it on. any help would be appreciated. thank you.

I have a Canon HF200 and recording it at 24mbps and without converting the raw footage if uploaded to youtube the video gets sound or video artifacts. Youtube's avchd decoding process needs to be tweaked. I record my video at 17mbps which is still 1920 x 1080 resolution but without the sound and video artifacts or one other option is to convert the video file before uploading to youtube with sony vegas pro or some other program...

Yes you have to convert with editing program, sony vegas pro will work just fine.

How do I upload a video to youtube in HD from my Canon HF200, I Upload to iMovie to edit then export it straight to youtube from iMovie usually but mine all come out minimum quality :(

I'm not sure what the point is here... When you upload video to YouTube, it automatically reduces the quality quite a bit to make downloads smaller and faster. So while it's nice of you to try, you're not really showing us anything that actually resembles this camera's image quality, are you?

he probally uploaded using imovie or some kind or software that supports direct uploading. cuz when ever i upload directly from the website, the quality sucks.. so i use imovie to upload and its clear

and you can modify the bit rate and Fps with thise programs so it looks even better

I have adobe premier and you have to go through a bunch of steps before even putting it in the program to make the clip compatible with it o_o And even then it's warped and looks terrible and choppy. I don't understand how this looks so nice XD

What is the format extension for AVCHD? I hate to have to upgrade to CS4 if I don't need to. I can import all other formats from DV HD cameras, and even from pro quality Cameras like the Canon XH-A1 but I can't seem to see a way to import AVCHD. Although I don't have the camera yet and am just looking at the import options. Any sugestions?

I just bought the Vixia HF200(AVCHD files). It came with Image mixer 3. It will allow you to import & view your raw footage. There is also a codec that will allow you to watch it in WMP too. I use sony Vegas MS 9 pro platinum to edit and publish my vids. Hope that helps.

I have been thinking of getting a new Canon and the HF200 is the model I want, however I use Adobe Premier Pro and it will not import the new AVCHD format. I hear that most pro grade software can't either so how can I edit with Premiere Pro? Is there a way to convert it before importing? Great shots BTW.

In the project properties, set the template to "HD 1080-60i" (Not HDV), the deinterlace method to "Interpolate fields", and the audio's sample rate to 48,000. Render your video in progressive scan with a decent codec, and you should be all set.

If you want smoother images with more motion blur and less line aliasing, set the deinterlace method to "Blend fields".

It took a couple dozen test renders to figure all that stuff out.. :)

I'll always stagger in Vegas, even on a powerful computer. As long as your final render is okay, that's what matters. The computer only needs to be powerful enough to play the raw camcorder files outside of Vegas without too much trouble, with a bit of leeway given for 1080i files (they're murder on all microprocessors).

looks good in the dark, i could get this camera new for 600 bucks but im not sure if its a great deal. i currently have a Canon GL2 and its good for fooling around and for all the different things you can do with it but i need something high def and 1-2K cameras are out of my price range this time. unless i sell my GL2 and its wide angle lense, extra battery, and shotgun mic then maybe i could afford a good hd camera but this is in my price range...i film during the day and a bit during dusk

As usual an amateur camcorder records with difficulties in low light conditions but this HF200 seems to give better results (less noisy) than previous models (HG21, HF20, HFS100).

I should be curious to see what gives a HF11 is same conditions.

HF20 isn't a "previous model" - it's the exact same camera as the HF200, but with 32 GB of built in memory (while retaining the SDHC slot).
