Also, Regan inherited Carter's S&L crisis, and had to rebuild the gutted military. You also fail to mention that Reagan's policies enabled companies like Microsoft, Cisco, and other high tech firms to get started and prosper under less restrictive taxes and regulations. Now Obama has run up a $3 trillion deficit in 20 moths, your speechless.

It's confusing to hear this rhetoric. My income tax rate would have been higher under Reagan, and he sent the national debt through the stratosphere [by contemporary standards].... I guess it's more about the IDEA of lower taxes. On the other hand, Obama ACTUALLY lowered my taxes, but that was called "reckless spending" and it's still being painted that way to people who don't even know that the "stimulus" [aka recovery act] gave them a tax cut. I think you should take a long while to think about how others may perceive the world rather than projecting your own views onto others.
What you tend to find is that you don't actually know how other people think, that most things are uncertain, and that feeling anger and strong emotions of these disputes is pretty futile. You may end up with a more moderate view, judging things by only empirical, explicit data, rather than personal anecdotes and subjective impressions.

Smaller government and stronger national defense? The defense is a crucial part of why the government is so big. Government out of personal lives? The ACLU is committed to civil liberties, but it seems that Sarah Paling never really talks about CIVIL liberties. Iin fact, I'd say that other than the 2nd amendment, which Obama has strengthened, not encroached upon, Sarah Palin is a THREAT to civil liberties (free speech, private religion, due process, equal protection). CIVIL≠ECONOMIC.
