He should have put it back down immediately, shutdown and done a full inspection of the rotorsystem. Even a minor blade damage and result in a mid flight blade debonding leading to complete blade failure and certain death, or the impact of the strike can damage the gearbox and transmission system leading to failure later on. Very very dangerous to keep flying after ANY part of EITHER rotorsystem makes contact with ANYTHING.
