  • Mexico had Emiliano Zapata, Ireland had Michael Collins. Both of these warriors were never to be forgotten. God Bless them. Viva Mexico. Long Live Ireland.

  • there may be people who hate collins for staying under the crown but he did so because he needed to start somewhere before he fully made ireland a free land from the british tyranny everything needs a stepping stone!

  • remind me who lost those War"s, you see you really are a fudge pushing thick mick.

  • FUDGE PUSHER

  • Whats it like to be a member of the yellowest army in the world steve LOL?

You know the one that ran as quickly as it could from the German Army in 1940? The one that refused to enter the battlefield against Germany until the USA had entererd the war?Or the Army that surrendered to a Japanese force half the size of the defending garrison in Singapore? Or the Army that had its ass handed to it by a German army under assault by 12m Red Army soldiers LOL

You must be so so proud ! LOL LOL

  • Arnhem was about the right level of the British Army's effectiveness in WW2.The brits as they are wont to do,after avoiding a fight with a powerful German army in 1940 by scurrying like the cockroaches they are back to their bunkers and shelters from France.Montgomery thought he'd deliver the Germans a knockout blow at Arnhem, but even a decimated and destroyed Germany Army under constant aerial bombardment with the barest of effort crushed the best the British Army had to offer in about 5 days.

  • LOL You Brits were always much better at women and killing than fighting real armies... Its the British way.. Never fight armies, retreat and cultivate the enemies of your enemies..That in essence is the true British military philospophy.... Never ever fight and equal or superior force...That would be unBritish... Just look for some women and kids to starve like say the 80,000 Boer women and kids starved by that same BRAVE British Army in the 2nd Boer war ... Be proud Steve be so so proud

  • @damiencarroll1 nice answer

  • I love him.Brave son of the gael.Sadly missed to this day

  • Sadly I couldn't find the song nor the lyrics in the Internet, so I would be deeply happy if you could tell me if there is a cd on which i can find it and if you might be able to tell me where I can find the lyrics. TA!

  • Thank you for posting this it, as in the song said, nearly made me cry about his fate. Having been in Dublin this year, I spoke my prayer for this brave hero at Dublin Castle the place of his greatest success not forgetting a silent prayer for an Ireland united and free as I am able to feel with you cause of Germany being departed for not even half the time Ireland had to endure.

  • Is mór and trua é nach bhfuil Mícheal beo inniu. Bí tú i gconaí i gcroí gach fír mná agus páíste eireannach!! Tiocfaigh ár lá!!!

  • we shouldnt call the man who shot collins a traitor anymore than we should call collins one. the terrible thing about the irish civil war was how patriotic irishmen turned on each other often acting with more brutality towards their fellow irish people than even the black and tans did

  • jock mc peak was a scottish man of irish descent he was serving as a free state soldier on the day of collins death as a machine gunner in the armoured car in december 1922 he deserted the free state army to join the republicans taking the armoured car with him. most historians agree it would have been imposible for mc peak to have shot collins 1as he had a heavy machine gun collins was shot with a rifle bullet and 2 mc peaks armoured car was parked at the wrong angle for the entry wound

  • A great song about a great man and patriot

  • brianlaw1888 thanks for your comments

you seem quiet sure mcpeak shot collins can you give me more info on this man . o neil seems to come up alot please enlighten me

  • I found some comments that O'Neil could not have been there. However you are quite right and Mcpeak tool . However at nearly 90 years later will we ever really know?

  • had Collins lived, he may well have taken the 'second step',

but it's clear that few of his followers had any interest in working towards a United Ireland,

but at least, a half step in that direction, has been taken in recent years.

Sean Éireann na nGael go deo.

  • unlike many of those who supported him post the Treaty, Collins was a true Irish freedom fighter, but he was not wily enough fot the Brits & he appears to have become infatuated by the attention he received.

unwilling,as he may have been, he did unfortunately, with British assistance, participate in the murder & torture of his fellow Irishmen, who stood by the Republic.

  • razimondo thank you so much for that name and I will always remember him for being the coward that murdered Irelands greatest hero and it's truest son.

He gave his life for what he believed in.Not like DeValera or the rest.He was IRELANDS heart.

  • Lyrics

An old man whispered in my ear, 'twas the saddest thing he knew

When Ireland's proudest son was shot at the age of thirty-two

He held my hand, his eyes held tears and my eyes filled up too

With the power of full emotion for a man I never knew

Michael Collins, fearless son, you touched the nation's soul

Ten thousand pounds upon your head, you still achieved your goal

'Twas thus behind the barricades you fought the last gunfight

You beat the enemy at their game, you undermined their might

  • (2)'Twas in the crowded banquet hall, the old man meek and mild

A simple man from off the land with the blue eyes of a child

For the memory that an Irishman shot down the rebel son

And Ireland lost Her Laughing Boy before his work was done

Michael Collins, Fearless Son, you touched the nation's soul

Ten thousand pounds upon your head you still achieved your goal

You knew the Orange and the Green would keep us Gaels apart

But the dream of Ireland one and free was the dream that filled your heart

  • (3)And an old man in a banquet hall some fifty years gone by

Held a sadness that would never pass, in his blue eyes still to cry

With the memory that an Irishman shot down the Fearless Son

And Ireland lost Her Laughing Boy before his work was done

    Michael Collins, Fearless Son, [...]]

'Twas thus behind the barricades, you fought the one time fight

You beat the enemy at their game, you undermined their might

You beat the enemy at their game, you undermined their might

  • u fuk off ya gay cunt keep ur hands 2 ur self

  • We can never pay enough homage to Ireland's greatest son. Micheal we will not forget you as surely you were the best.

  • This literaly has brought tears to my eye lol, the first song in a long time to do this.

  • @darrin42 Same here, he was a man among men alright, lovely portrait/ film of him. His grave at Glasnevin is covered with flowers always.Love this song.

  • Died for Every Irish man in the Country. A True selfless couragous Great mastermind Hero! RIP Mick, You will never be forgotten

  • He was killed by the anti treaty mob led by Dev Valera.

  • Some great footage. Lovely song from the late Brendan O'Reilly (also written by him).

  • Talk about history in this song! I've seen many deeds of land awarded to those who fought against the Fenian Raids. As a little girl, I recall an Orange Day Parade. The town's businessmen, standing on the running board of a Model T, yelling, "down with the Catholics"! The English should NEVER have been in Ireland. Peace to Ireland! Perhaps I've got a little Irish blood in me by osmosis from my very Irish godfather!

  • Michael Collins RIP Glory to the great Hero!!!!!!

  • If only we had another Michael Collins in the Basque Country to achieve our real freedom. Ireland and the Basque Country together against the imperialism of GB, France and Spain one day we will get our national independence!
