like the mood setting trumpet in the beginning. would be nice to linger on the large paintings a bit longer, rather than giving them the same facetime as his numerous ink on paper studies. but overall, i like.
Digital images don't do this work justice. Go see the work where ever it may be and whenever it is shown. Also look up John Beardman, living abstract expressionist that does some great work.
Thank you, Artpopulus! I love Motherwell's work (and your choice of music.) I am a graduate of a major american art school. Robert Motherwell gave our commencement address. He chose to speak on "How not to commit suicide." So Motherwell and so outrageously appropriate. I still cherish the memory.
Have to move on what a load of lame shite get a life dozens of times what are you smoking, probably the same skunk that stella was enjoy your no life.
Having watched (and listened to) this video dozens of times, I've grown keenly curious as to the content of the song's lyrics, and would be grateful to anyone who might conduct me to some place I may find an English translation; for you see, I don't talk no French.
Hello. Although I've collected the work of Leo Ferre for several decades, it seems he rarely if ever had his words translated into English. The music, in my experience, often transcends the need for a literal translation, as you've no doubt noticed. And although virtually unknown in the US, he remains a God in France.
Extraordinary My admiration for Motherwell has grown steadily over the past couple years, and at this point I consider him one of the five greatest artists of the twentieth century.
Moving. I stumbled on this... I am neither an artist nor knowledgable of any. However, this piece was extraordinarily moving. It recruited emotions that were as unexpected as they were overwhelming. Phenominal.
Wonderful selection of music, Leo singing about "la mort".. and those paintings.. with writings.. about love, death.. and life.. "estoy vivo" said the lastest painting. Fabulous, as always. thanks for sharing
amazing video! thanks

I muted the sound, much better.
Good art doesn't require any extra drama.

I'm already quite familiar with Motherwell; I don't suppose you could spare a moment to tell me a bit about the other?

Motherwell is one of my favorite artists from this century. I especially like his Elegies and his Open series.

This makes it clear that Motherwell is one of the greatest artists of the 20th century. The pictures are very powerful. And the music is haunting.
