Last we heard, calf swam back out to the ocean over the weekend. Officials are attempting to coax mother downstream, too, but she's still about 3 miles upstream.
They are still there 7/18/2011, my crew and I were going towards the Alder Camp direction, and came across a bunch of people standing along the road, so we had to check it out. I managed to climb down to the shoreline, and had the most amazing experience of my life seeing a mother and her calf swim literally less than 6 feet away from me on their sides like they were checking me out. The State and F&W were gonna make efforts yesterday to try and coax them back into the ocean
Thank you for filming the whales. We saw them the other day. The US Navy sonar tests are responsible for the whales in the river. Rosalind Peterson has done extensive research on this subject. I am currently collecting signatures from people to stop the US Navy warfare exercises which injure and kill whales. If you are interested to sign our petition let me know through message I will send you my email address and we can meet at Klamath River or in Crescent City. Nicola

The sonar caused this?? How about the fact that whales have gone up river for generations to keep their young safe!!
