The facts are that the Billboard chart rules do not allow for re-issues to chart seperate to the original release.

Therefore, if the original album is now charting on the 'cagtalogue' chart, that is where the re-issue has to chart too. It's the same rules that applied for reissues by U2, Def Leppard, Bruce Sprinsteen etc...

The rules may be be questionable but it is applied fairly.

With 4 remix's on the album plus one BRAND NEW song, it should have been considered for more than just a re-issue. I get both sides of the argument, but obviously i take Michael's here. Thriller 25 has ALWAYS been listed in Billboard's Comprehensive Chart, it was #2 the first week and was #23 last week. I think BB says that unless an album contains "6 new and unique songs" on a reissue (excluding remixes) it won't be eligible for the Top 200. Sony tried to argue that the remixes were new (from demos etc.) but Billboard said they went with the "court of public opinion" and decided not to count it as new. The Eagles thing was crazy though, they changed the rules in 1 day for them
