  • This is my childhood :D

  • Original will always be better than the remake!

  • I cant believe grampa joe is dead:/

  • @Annashannon1 The original Grandpa Joe in willy wonka and the chocolate factory died 31 years ago, you're thinking of the crappy new grandpa Joe in charlie and the chocolate factory who died recently.

  • Thats how i felt when i toured the Guinness Brewery.

  • Hold your breath, make a wish, count to three.

    Best. Line. Ever.

  • I love this song, it's my sex song.

  • Tim Burton can't handle the awesome that is Gene Wilder.

  • Holy shit this quality is better than my T.V.!!!

  • I could swear those kids were older last time I saw this.

  • Willy Wonka's Eyes 0:33 <3

  • Comment removed

  • My eyes water every time.

  • U can totes tell the balls r balloons

  • Just looking at the chocolate room is making me hungry, lol. XD

    I love this song. <3

  • Song of Storms, much?

  • @Guitraboy Except this kinda has the Song of Storms by around 20 years...1996-1971=?

  • Three people don't have a sole.....

  • @DelaneyisLove1 Soles are in shoes, you mean souls. The importance of spelling.

  • @realar Well, maybe those three people don't have soles in their shoes, either. ;)

  • Che meraviglia!! *-*

  • Is it just me or does Nicholas Cage kinda look like Gene?! I wonder if their related?

  • song of .... storms

  • If I ever meet Gene Wilder at a signing, I'd ask him to sign my copy of this movie.

  • omg that set is incredible

  • Magical scene. We love this movie!

  • @:20 papa joe has cocaine pinkies. Actors in the 70s - what can you do?

  • Gene Wilder is one of the most best actors ever. He should've won an Oscar for this movie.

  • EVERYTIME I HEAR THIS SONG, IT BRINGS ME BACK TO MY CHILDHOOD. I MISS THIS KIND OF INNOCENCE WE USED TO SEE IN THE MEDIA.

  • Did Veruca, Violet and Augustus dislike this video?

  • @ruttlingorangepeel I think it was the cast from Glee for thinking their version is better. :)

  • @ruttlingorangepeel Now Mike disliked it too!

  • @ruttlingorangepeel Don't forget Mike Teevee!

  • @ruttlingorangepeel Forgot about Mike.

  • @ruttlingorangepeel Nope...Veruca, Violet, Augustus and Mike disliked it!

  • @blakeandcamp yes they did..... got to love the original movie not charile and the chocolate factory..... it was good to but willy wonka and the chocolate factory was a classic

  • such a great song!

  • Everyone is saying wow that is so fake and like the person below me, You are supposed to use your IMAGINATION why is the song called pure imagination hmm i dont know. When i was little i always belived that i could do this thats becuase i had an imagination why dont you guys try it? I mean i have a friend that belives she can sleep on a cloud :/ good for her lol

  • @cream981 Exactly! Also, the movie was made in 1970, for crying out loud! So of course some of the effects and such are going to look a little cheesy. They worked with what they had at the time, and for what it's worth, I think they did a fantastic job!

  • @SuperSimmerGal That was meant to say, "a little cheesy by today's standards"

  • at 2:48 those balls are so balloons

  • @firephilip10 Nope, I think they actually are balls. I've done a lot of reading about the making of this movie, and from what I understand, the balloon-like sound the balls make when he kicks them was added in post-production.

  • 0:30 Those eyes are so gorgeous.

  • @LeonGroff2777 They're even prettier at 3:31. <3

  • How is Willy Wonka not obese

  • Gene Wilder's best classic film!

  • The song doesn't start until 0:27

  • I sing this song all the time

  • Only Willy Wonka can rhyme imagination with imagination.

  • @BeachballOtaku The candy man can?

    well theres a shocker

  • @BeachballOtaku How about Lou Rawls ? :P

  • Maybe my favorite movie scene ever...

  • i wish i had half his swag in walking down stairs.. = w =

  • i luv Johnny Depp

btw i luv both of the movies

but i gotta admit... this movie is better... it's charming

  • Questo film è il migliore!!! Quello di Tim Burton al confronto è decisamente inferiore.

  • although the original film did not folow the book precisly, it truly got this scene and what the book was about, appreciating the beautiful nature of "pure imagination". not to simply gorge and accept it, but to take a step back and to admire every moment of someones magnificent creation.

  • I like the continuity of this scene. When Wonka finally gives the group the visible go-ahead to explore the area, you can see them all running to the specific locations we later see them at. Mike Teavee runs to the weird overhanging bushy thing that Wonka pops for him later on, Augustus heads straight for the small bushes with what appears to be fruit (or large round pieces of candy) on them, which he is later seen eating, Charlie and Grandpa Joe head for the candy canes, etc.

  • I think after the fourth time I would've ripped that cane out of his hands and throw it right into the chocolate river. "Try smacking me with it NOW, Wonka."

  • when i was a kid i've always wanted Willy Wonka's coat and hat. I don't know why

  • @ScarletWolf1000 Same! He reminded me so much of Dr Who :)

  • @ScarletWolf1000 I still want his coat and hat!

  • @AliLovesSomeone Me too :)

  • Gaben singing about this years christmas sale.

  • 2 people have no imagination

  • 2 people love johnny depp

  • 2 people have no soul

  • I fall asleep to this song, I wake up to this song, I dance to this song, I think to this song, I live to this song, I die to this song

  • One person doesn't have pure imagination

  • one persons a douche.

  • I am so glad you got the biting of the cup for some reason I think that is the best part.

  • Glee is an awful AWFUL creation... KILL IT BURN IT WITH FIRE!!!

    PS. Love this! :D

  • This movie attempts to legitimize the thousands of Americans diagnosed with diabetes every year.

  • i always giggled when he'd eat the cup :3

  • is it wrong if i masturbated to this video?

  • when i was little to this i would hop from couch to couch twirling and singing every word to this song. now every time i listen to this song i cry from pure joy. :) ♥

  • The" cup scene" reveals to us all the wonder of the actor Gene.

  • this bit made me think willy wonka was a pedophile

  • This song brings me back to my childhood and the safety and security of live back then>>>

  • I wonder how many times he messed up and smacked that lady in the face at 0:49

  • @joanieloveschachi22 the entire stair part was done in 1 take. *fun fact*

  • @joanieloveschachi22 I don't know whether he smacked that lady, but two of the kids have mentioned having been smacked by him with the cane (accidentally, of course!). Paris Themmen (Mike Teavee) speaks about being smacked in the DVD commentary (funnily enough, he's also been rather open about the fact that Gene didn't care too much for him due to the fact that he was quite the troublemaker!), and Julie Dawn Cole (Veruca Salt) talks about being smacked in her memoir "I Want it Now!"

  • 1:05 I hate it when people do that to me so much...

  • 1 guys a dick

  • @Jewels1357 No he wasn't a dick. He was the little kid who got stuck in the pipe. :D

  • 1:42 "This way grandpa!" *Zig! Zag! Zig!*

  • this is Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory, not Charlie and the chocolate factory, so it's its own version of a faint adaption of the book. When my family reads the book, we later see the 2005 movie.

  • This looks amazing in HD! Have they made a re-make of this movie?

  • I'm in love with Willy Wonka's jacket. :D

  • Gene Wilder will always be the "WillyWonka"

Johnny Depp is good but in that movie its like they make it "to funny"

its suppose to be about dreams and simplicity

:D that didnt sound right but oh well

this will always be my favorite song

it makes your heart soar and your insides burst

  • @Gleelovers411 :P why :P

  • Come with him and you'll be in a world with Diabetes

  • @JayBird90210 seriously dude i understand that u lik to joke around but just not here its just a no

  • Roald Dahl had a wonderful imagination writing this book.

  • I just melt when I hear this. I am a little kid all over again.

  • Pure inebriation... i mean imagination.

  • i have always loved this movie, but for some reason it kinda made me sad. while everyone is gorging themselves with candy, he's sitting there alone taking little bits that don't destroy the beauty of his creation. he just seems like a lonely man. but i'm probably just over thinking it. i do that a lot. haha

  • @animeobsessed777 No, I think you nailed it.

  • @animeobsessed777 Couldn't agree more.Watched it today and thought he seemed a little . . . depressed

  • @animeobsessed777 i think your right in the sense that he seems sad that hey are destroying his beautiful delicious creations, but if you think about it, why would he invite them in and show them if they werent allowed to eat any of it?

  • @animeobsessed777 I don't think you're over thinking at all, infact I think you're spot on.

  • @animeobsessed777

Isn't the sad part what makes it beautiful?

  • @animeobsessed777 You're not over thinking it, the director put that in for a reason, it means exactly what you think it does.

  • @animeobsessed777 I never thought of it that way, but that's brilliant!

  • @animeobsessed777 Well, of course. He doesn't have any idea who he can trust....what's lonelier than that?

  • @animeobsessed777

Its funny you say that I felt the same. I guess their is a reference to this in his earlier comment to Verucca Salt when he says "We are the Music Makers and we are the dreamers of dreams..." what a lot of people dont realise is there is more to that poem:

.. Wandering by lone sea-breakers, And sitting by desolate streams;— World-losers and world-forsakers, On whom the pale moon gleams: Yet we are the movers and shakers Of the world for ever, it seems.

  • @flexsoft or you are BOTH overthinking it....

  • @TheAnubis754 Or your not thinking at all when you make comments that judges other peoples assesment of a particualry poinent scene within a movie.

Perhaps a little depth perception is what Roal Dahl intended insteaded of the hasty thought patterns of the post industrial age?

Why not stop and indulge in somthing that is inteneded to inspire and provoke the 'Imagination', its easy to shoot things down in small paragraphs of critisism but easy to be cynical and demeaning.

  • @flexsoft everyone probably over thinks it, i used to do that, back when i didnt have the mental capacity to filter out things that dont matter, like your existence, and this particular part of this movie. im done.

  • @TheAnubis754 IF it doesnt matter and you have the Mental Capacity to filter out things why would you waste your time even posting a response in the first place???

  • @flexsoft just to make you mad.

  • @animeobsessed777 Oh really? I thought he looked very peaceful when he was striding through the factory, he seemed to be enjoying the liveliness of it with the children there, and looking over the time he's spend creating this beauty.

  • @animeobsessed777 no i agree with you, he seemed sad

  • @animeobsessed777 it's.. just being polite.

i'm like that, but it doesn't mean i'm lonely. :/

  • I always over think things, it shows creativity and sometimes over thinking it is good becaus anything is possible:)

  • Roald Dahl I can't believe you didn't like this! I know it wasn't like your creepy book which had an illustration of the Knid, which was so creepy to this day. It's like E.B. White who was just as picky with the treatment of his Charlotte's Web. Come on he got the Sherman Brothers writing songs for his movie, WAS HE THE LEAST BIT GRATEFUL?!

  • I adore this song. :)

  • 2:22 = Bitch! Love this movie

  • @WoodLouseFace Don't be mean... just imagine it's dog shit she's lapping up. I always did.

I guess the color on our tv wasn't that good...

  • @darkshadowshinobi Disney dosnt own Star Wars or Indiana Jones either and yet there are still rides for them at Disneyland

  • ☆☆☆☆☆

  • wouldnt that be awesome if they made a wonka factory ride at like disneyland or somewhere like that

  • @mccartney246 There is.

in England. Alton towers. Based on the creepy boat ride.

  • @mccartney246 ...Disney doesn't own charlie and the chocolate factory dumbass

  • i've always wanted to eat the cups. i bet they taste horrible, LoL

  • @vetdetta I always thought they would taste like a waffle (ice cream) cone.

  • @JordanAP96 ya'know, I think so too, so I watched the video again-the material they used for the cups must have been so tasteless. Like dollar store candy, yet somehow appealing....

  • @vetdetta Actually, I'm willing to bet those cups tasted much worse than dollar store candy....because they were, in fact, made of wax (among other places, it's mentioned in the behind-the-scenes documentary on the DVD....by Gene Wilder himself! He also mentions that he spat the wax pieces out after each take.). Now, I've never actually eaten wax myself, of course, but I imagine that it must taste pretty darn awful!

  • @SuperSimmerGal dude did you never eat crayons as a kid? they don't taste of anything really. just it's unpleasant to have in your mouth because it doesn't break down like food does.. it's all waxy kind of makes you gag.

  • @infraball Nope, never was a crayon-eater. :) Anyway, my point was simply that I'm sure eating (well, chewing, anyway) that cup had to be a lot less pleasant than eating dollar store candy!

  • @SuperSimmerGal this is very true. i used to imagine it would taste like the filling of a lemon tart, but crunchy :D

  • @vetdetta ya'know, I think so too, so I watched the video again-the material they used for the cups must have been so tasteless. Like dollar store candy, yet somehow appealing....

  • audio’s slightly out of sync but still good stuff, thanks

  • This movie is so much better then Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. You can't beat a classic.

  • @RenownRecon Personally I like both, but I agree with you 100%.
