Was in S. Philly July 4 2010 they had block parties through the whole South side. The vibe was crazy!!! All my people united partying in the city with a down south feel. I'll never forget that shout out to S.Phil from CT.
Miami is where religous candles burn thru the summer night. Where our food is cook with tradiitonal african roots but in spaniard time . Where we speak 2 langaues at the same time. Where tradition meets the modern world. A fusion of Santeria & Corporate development. If you want to expereince old african roots, or new modern vices Miami is your place. Listen to AFRO CUBAN ALLSTARS- FIESTA DE RUMBA- THAT IS MIAMI..... Strong enough to handle hurricanes and bold enough to tmadarte pa la pinga bro.
Hanging one night in a lounge in south Philly ...heard this song gave me a sense of the city the vibe was so surreal bless you Dwele you really gave this song a place in So Philadelphia...love And I'm a New York Lady....
its crazy because all this soul music reaches southern cali and like its so versatile that i can feel it...even though ive been in cali all my life lol i always felt the philly and motown soul vibes... i love music yo
Nall.....This reminds me of driving down Jefferson Ave in Downtown-Detroit headin to Belle Isle on a weekend summer-evening with some fine "spirits" in the car. Now Detroit-313 stand-up!
@varner313 with all do respect..thats just an BLACK SOUL ENERGY OF PHILLY UP BROAD STREET AND IN NORTH PHILLY OVER ON CHEW AVE AND DEN INTO GERMAN TWON TRANSFERED FROM THE SONG to you being that detroit is another black soul town..so yeah
Here in Miami its a shame we dont have this influnce of R&B and Soul. Although, we have much Afro-Latin sounds and Caribbean sounds as well. Music like this is defintley a northern fusion... Big up to ya....im feeling it , down bottom... 1.
@tag1989 Well Miami is really not South. We do have alot of Percussion out here much African Latin music, off course Reagge etc.... but Neo Soul and Old skool sound like Dwele..... Naw....I lived in Jersey for many years thats where i discovered this sound. Its dope. But defitntley a Northern sound here.. Big up to ya..
@speeches Y'all have it but Miami never really developed it's own sound, so immigrant, foreign sounds have become sort of the norm. Dwele is classic American sound. He's the latest of a long line growing from the 50s and 60s. Miami and the tri-county area, all of SoFL really, never developed a musical tradition, like Detroit, Chicago, NYC, St. Louis, KC, Miss, Philly, even D.C. and ATL and L.A. But cats from Dade know about this. They just haven't created anything.
@speeches Maybe in recent years with Caribbean immigrants but SoFl's American origins are a lot earlier than that, of the Dwele sort esp. Congo and such have a completely different musical structure and feel.
I got this in 2001...and it's been in my playlist ever since. This cut captures the true essence of Philly. I used to play it at least a few times when I was caught in rush hour traffic in Central Philly...kept the road rage at bay..lol.
This is probably my favorite song of Dwele's. This song captures the full soul of his voice and production. I could listen this song looped for hours. My favorite driving or running song.
yeah mushroom jazz 4 i got all of the mushroom jazz albums.. Mark Farina is the shit! seen him spin house many times in miami and philly (where i'm from) thats why i love this track :D
Mushroom Jazz 3 actually :) My first purchases were Mushroom Jazz 4 and 5, and I sure as heck would've remembered this track on 4. Boy is smooth. Man!
