In case you missed it: Greg Palast apologizes to Dr. Steven Jones: "An
apology and hope for reasoned discourse" I know this video interview took place about 4 years ago but it is notable that his opinion has changed concerning the WTC 1, 2, and 7 demolitions
1) there's no contradiction between wanting to suppress oil sales initially in order to increase prices, while scheming to ultimately force the privatization in order to purchase the oil fields further on...
2) palast's barber is clearly conspiring against him.
Way to divert the subject to something he didnt even try to apeak about, jackass. Mr. palast has such a cornicopia of info we all need to know, and changing the subject to whack-job Truther nonsense is utterly disgraceful

Would someone PLEASE send Greg a copy of the FDR from AA77? Let him investigate that for awhile, because no one disagrees with him on the points he is currently making - but our Congress has proven that they are completely inept at doing anything about going after these men.
Since the war began oil reserves for these major players have jumped in price as follows: Exxon Mobil $666billion, British Petroleum $558billion, Royal Dutch/Shell $390billion, Five Oil Majors $2.363trillion, Saudi Arabia $7.920trillion.
''Consider Order Number 37, 'Tax Strategy' for 2003''. Here is Norquist's dream come true, a flat tax on corporate and individual income capped at 15%. The US Congress rejected a similar Norquist plan for USA, but in Iraq, with an electorate of one-Jerry Bremer-the public's will was not an issue.
Most important was that Bremer's Order 37 would apply ''for 2004 and all subsequent years.'' A future government elected by Iraqis could not undo what the occupiers had commanded, not even their own nation's tax rates. The tax order, like every order, was designed so that future puppet governments would remain tangled in Bremers strings long after his departure.
Order Number 40, ''the Bank Law,'' sold off Iraqi banks to three foreign financiers. This implements pages 30 to 42 of the Economy Plan. Notably, Bremer chose to announce his fiat, not in Iraq, but in Dubai, at a meeting of international bankers.
Bremer lauded the ''extra element of competition'' that would result from his piecing off Iraqi banks; but competition was ruled out of the lucrative bidding itself. The fire sale was limited to Bremer's handpicked lucky few: Hong Kong Shangai Banking Corp, National Bank of Kuwait and Standard Chartered Bank of London, the junior partners of JP Morgan Chase of New York. Everybody got a piece of the Iraqi bank pie-except the Iraqis.
Simultaneous to parcelling out Iraq's banks, Bremer eliminated the prohibition on their charging high-''usurious''-interest rates, a sensitive issue in a Muslim nation. ''This means, '' said Bremer, without a hint of humour, ''Iraqis can enjoy modern banking and earn market rates of interest for their money''.
Unfortunately, there are not many Iraqi's with money to put into their new modern banks, especially after Bremer signed Order 12, ''Trade Liberalization Policy.'' Here the free-market fanatics' dream came true, turning Iraq into the world's FIRST large economy with no tariff protection WHATSOEVER.
No nation ON THE PLANET, except occupied Iraq, operates without tariffs (tax on imports) or quotas (limits on imports). Free market USA wouldn't do this nor free-market Britain nor free-market Chile-for good reason. A nation without protection is subject to ''dumping'' of surplus subsidized products, which would completely demolish local producers.
And that's exactly what happened in Iraq. Iraqi industry, having gone without new equipment for a decade due to sanctions, crawling back to life after the invasion, was shattered by Order 12. From candy kitchens to washing machine makers, Iraqi business went bankrupt.
The US ''shock and awe'' bombing campaign left manufacturing intact, but the bombardment of foreign goods without control flattened industry. This is free trade with a bullet, and it was devastating.
It's a suprising interview from an "expert investigator". Palast ignores the work of Dr Steven Jones and evidence from demo experts. The first country we went after was Afghanistan for a gas pipeline. To invade these countries you'd need a reason so you have a bad guy like OBL and his gang to focus the fury. To make sure sit happens you use thermate. 2 yrs - bollocks Palast
Palast is an economic investigator, and I've read Armed Madhouse, and it gives details of documented issues, which every man and woman should know. Fact is, 9/11 issues are hazy at best. This guy investigated Enron about energy issues, not the main scam. Economics and politics, are the issues within.
Amazing to see Mr. Palast lose his cool on the subject of 9/11. Note how he uses the language of Government in trying to deny the evidence for controlled demolition: 'We have looked into this claim and find there is no evidence to support it. It did not happen. We do not need to produce evidence to support our judgement. Our judgement is final.' So that's all right, then.
Please listen to JFK's secret society speech, just before he was murdered by the US Vatican-Jesuit mafia (Knights of Columbus), and later his younger brother.
The Vatican-Jesuits don't mind if people think the US government is incompetent, as long as nobody looks behind the Bush's and the Rove's.
They have replacements in both mainstream parties, from which in due time a new minion will be selected by the elite. Preferable someone with a masonic background. Wake up peple. The war in Iraq is about genocide not just oil.
Minion of the BBC (with their Jesuit director) who tells halftruths, by leaving the important elements out. Elements such as the Vatica-Jesuit conspiracy (from Castro to Chavez, from the Bush dynasty to the Bilderberg Group).
Fast forward to 13:00 to hear INN's very astute reporter pressing Mr. Palast about this selective investigative journalism phenomenon. To follow, investigate, work and uncover the facts that these folks have done such a wonderful job on and yet stop just short of it's obvious nexus is highly suspicious to me.
To me, that still doesn't excuse his (and those of his ilk's) amazingly selective brand of investigative journalism. Amy Goodman, Michael Moore and Seymour Hirsch also come to mind here. They'll rant against the mainstream media's reporting and credibility all day long, but when they get close to the real flame, they behave just like mainstream moths.
This is the prototype of a "left-gatekeeper". "We've caught the neocons lying about EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN, but regarding the way the events of 9/11 happened etc., we've never found anything to doubt their story". WTF?? You are dead wrong Mr. Palast and you would know that if you bothered to investigate the most important event of our time.
No engineers support controlled demolition hypothisis? Really? Not a very good investigatve journalist with such a blatant misstatement of the truth. Would Palast like the names of some engineers that disagree before he is exposed? We all make mistakes but with such an incorrect statement it appears that he has never even looked into the controlled demolition hypothesis. Perhaps he can take a look at ancient history too(not saying Jones is correct) RIP Bill Cooper
Interesting. I wish Palast would actually give us the real facts about the demise of the twin towers or indead WTC7 and why he believes they fell down due to aircraft and debris alone. Is it not therefore important to guide the 'misguided'? Not too many can explain the molten metal found, the essential freefall (according to NIST) the ejected steel, the multiple reports of secondary explosions and the pyrpclastic flow.
At 12.25 he makes out that he didn't investigate the collapse. At 12.55 he says he spent a long time investigating it. During the 30 seconds in between he fumbles and bumbles along like he's not sure what to say, and says "It looks to me like planes hit the buildings" when obviously he's being asked about WT7. Watch it again, what do you think?
big expert. Maybe they did spend 2years setting the charges or at least planning the demolition. There are all kind of experts that just get up there and shoot their mouths of at a mile a minute.
Dunno why he went completely stupid all over sudden...
Then again i also fail to understand all these people who still arent convinced there where explosions in the buildings. There's numerous people reporting it ,just look at "911 revisited",or study the structure.there is no hollow core!!But they wont look at anything..other as a video of 10 min and come up with a conclusion.. Their ignorance putting us all at risk for the next "terrorist" attack.
It seems a very large percentage of people who have now seen WTC7 do understand and are convinced that demolition charges were used to bring it down. If another terrorist attack occurred, this number would only grow. But your right, those who refuse to acknowledge it make it seem like people in general are unaware, when its quite th opposite.
My god - i love greg palast but this video is really shocking. He gets SO much wrong on this demolition issue. One presentation from steven jones would demolish greg's theories. Wow - i have never seen greg posit such 'gloss over' statements. i personally think he is simply super-weary of ever being accused of being a conspiracy nut and has to tow the line. at least he could say 'i support a new investigation'
i agree with you. he is the best investigative reporter we got and alex jones is the best spokesperson and generalizer. but if palast gets involved in 911 truth his sources more than likely will not deal with him any longer nor will the BBC let him remain on their payroll
both are patsies for the ZIOrats. Bushit did it and Osama did it... ah, yes, the Saudis. But Ziorael? not even mention it, or they will get FIRED alright! The stupid BBC goofed big time on WTC7, proving they are accomplices of the Booshits, the israelis, and the globalists behind the NWO. Their time is up, their empire crumbling. Time for the RATS to find a hole on the ground.
How the hell can he say there's no specialist believing there are explosives used There's hundreds?? (ae911truth.) Why on earth is Prof. Jones a fruitcake all over sudden?? No evidence for explosions?? There are so many people (Fire men etc) saying that ,that even Michael Moore switched his opinion on this!!What's your game Greg???? I used to respect you,but i dont trust you for an inch now!
Jones is not a fruitcake all of a sudden, he has been for years - see his previous research "proving" that Christ visited South America. Yes, there were explosions, there always are in fires, that does NOT mean there were demolition charges there, the firemen do NOT believe that.
Man, people never cease to mangle facts and logic to make bad points. You know that, firstly he didn't claim to 'prove' it, but only analyze 'evidence' for for "Jesus" visiting South America (and considering that the biblical Jesus is a copy of previous prophets and divine agents, its not impossible that these ancient South Americans had their own "Jesus"), and secondly this at any rate this has NOTHING TO DO WITH the validity of Dr. Jones' PhD level research in physics? Right?
I think Greg Palast is brilliant. It is a shame though to hear him lie and say no scientist has supported the controlled demolition theory. That Mr. Palast is a false statement. Also Mr. Palast, why was thermite found at WTC? Use your great talent to look more closely at this.
Ridiculous. Whether he believes the demolition theory or not is immaterial... It's clear that there's unanswered questions about 9/11, Bush's relationship to Saudi Arabia, the neocons' plans, oil and Greg Palast has unearthed lots of dirt about what the war's about. Does he *have* to believe a theory that he's seen no official evidence for?
Strange interview with Palast. He completely tears into 9/11 Truth and then praises INN at the end of the interview for '24 frames per second of real truth'.
Lenny did a good job pushing the issue to expose Palast as just another spineless left gatekeeper who won't question the official story. I lost alot of my respect for Palast.
Wrong.....! WTC was a PERFECT controlled demolition. Anybody with a working brain can see this. It was PERFECT. I'M SURE THE PEOPLE THAT PLANTED THE EXPLOSIVES WERE THRILLED.
I cant believe I havent heard of Greg Palast untill now. Its like a breath of fresh air compared to all the other views Ive heard. And he seems to be talking a lot of sense.
What the fuck are you talking about? Calling me an idiot? And Israeli ambassador? Get a grip of yourself my simple minded friend, what are these accusations based on? You are talking out of your arse. Aren't you even hearing what Palast is saying, what makes you think he supports Israel? Are you stupid?
The question is: Where is the evidence? He is an investigative reporter with sources in the intelligence community. And he found no evidence for the inside job. I would like the conspiracy theorist to produce just one person who participated in the plot or has direct knowledge of any aspect of the plot. A plot like this must have involved hundreds, yet no one has come forward.
Now Palast is vilified because he doesn't support a conspiracy theory built entirely on speculation.
hugowhimsy, my sentiments exactly. The conspiracy theory is built on leaps of logic. I made myself read what I'm told is a good book how the conspiracy can be proved (Crossing the Rubicon) - it's this guy was supposedly doing this, and his father is connected to this person - bla bla
At 15:52-16:04 Palast defames Dr Steven Jones by calling him a "complete fruitcake" and "an utter fraud" because of his religious theories.
Isaac Newton devoted more time to the study of the Scriptures, the Fathers, and to Alchemy than to science. He wrote more about religion than science, searched for hidden messages in the Bible and strove to develop a theology of the end-times.
So should we ignore all Newtonian physics because he was a religious fruitcake??
World Trade Center Building 7 was a 47 story steel and concrete skyscraper. It was NOT hit by a plane. It does not appear to have suffered major fires. It housed Guiliani's security bunker and sensitive govt offices. It collapsed in under 7 seconds into its own footprint.
Danny Jowenko, 27 year demolition expert took one look and said it was clearly a controlled demolition.
Good to see a real investigative journalist talking a lot of sense. About Iraq and about 9/11. There is absolutely no evidence of controlled demolition, even danny Jowenko does not think the towers were demolished, only WTC7. There is no reason molten metal should result from a controlled demolition, it was most likely aluminium melted by the fires that burned for weeks under the rubble.
dnf, ur hero pallast is dead, he just fried his mouth. That's why he fled to UK. He is not stupid, he is pathetic. He tries to wipe Silverstein, BBC, Marvin Bush asses. He can't, it's too late. We KNOW, the world KNOWS. The criminal empire is crumbling. Feel the heat. If you work for them, run. If you don't, don't open ur mouth; the fan is blowing your way, you might catch some shit. BTW, you DO sound dumb.
At 12:27 - 12:38 Palast admits that he is not an engineer, nor a physicist, and the best he can do is offer "his own goofball opinion" on 9/11. At 12:43 he says it looks like planes hit the building (conveniently completely ignoring Lenny Charles' question of WTC7.)
And yet at 14:38 he states categorically "Controlled demolition I can rule out", and at 15:02 - 15:04 he asserts that it takes "two years to wire a tower to destroy a building".
The Port Authority put the Trade Center on the Market 3 days after the first commercial aircraft made a successful landing by Global Positioning System in Newark Airport, both releases were in September 1998.
The press releases can be retrived online from the website of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. (panynj-gov/pr/128-98) (panynj-gov/pr/133-98)
Search "Danny Jowenko", demolition expert with 27 years experience in the demolitions industry, or MIT engineer and research scientist Jeff King, for another opinion.
I'm very disappointed at Greg Palast's ignorance re. WTC 7.
It's not ignorance, it's complicity. He is a fox. But he works for the wrong guys, not the people. Read this one: Greg Palast, the left wing of the Lobby. three w Dot israelshamir Dot net/English/Palast Dot htm (NO spaces). And pass it on. The trash gets dumped today.
WTC 7 was a 47 story skyscraper. It was not hit by a plane. It housed many sensitive govt offices and agencies. And yet it collapsed in under 7 seconds. From fire, Greg Palast would have us believe, and anyone who says otherwise is a "fruitcake".
pallast is bye-bye. He just shot his mouth and showed who he really works for. He is trying to wipe Silverstein, BBC, and Marvin Bush asses, and resucitate Osama. WHAT A JOKE OF A MAN! That's why he exiled himself to Britan. Their castle is crumbling. One day these people are going to face the people's court. They can't escape their destiny.
he he right, everyone who doesn't agree with conpiracy theories must be working for "Them". So stupid to think this way. Wait maybe the whole conspiracy theory is a conspiracy. If you don't agree with me you must be one of them.
That attack on Steven Jones is quite astonishing. Mr. Jones is such a nice person I find it odd Greg would attack him like that. Greg clearly doesn't know the facts though because he doesn't seem to understand that there was molten steel underneath the rubble of those 3 buildings. The molten steel is a smoking gun for controlled demolition that no "debunker" will even address. Greg will change his mind though.
he's wearing a prop bald cap, he's full of shit. that isn't his scalp!....He saw the planes?......ok......I think his story is about as phoney as his bald head.
Learn who this conspirator is, who works for the bad guys, not the people. Read this one: Greg Palast, the left wing of the Lobby. three w Dot israelshamir Dot net/English/Palast Dot htm (NO spaces). And pass it on. The trash gets dumped today.
Yeah, sure he saw the planes...maybe on tv because that is the only place anyone saw planes on 9-11. So now we know he is a liar and his election fraud (voter fraud is the incorrect term) is trying to say that all they did was caging rather than a much more serious crime of electronically altering the vote. He is a liar!!!
you should all wake up to the economic underpinnings of society and stop being so focused on the possible expressions of it. There are tons of conspiracies more provable then 911 (Iran Contra), and really it doesn't change the fact that all of this comes back to concentrated wealth and hierarchy - this is what must change, or this sort of thing will continue.
I'm sure Alex Jones will hear of this and rip Greg Palast a new one.
If Alex Jones doesn't respond to this within 1 week, then I will really start to wonder about everything and be right back where I stated when I woke up about a year ago.
I have to wonder why do people listen to somebody so shady and dishonest? too crude, low cost, low brow, sell out. I haven't seen low brow sell out like this since the circus Penn and Teller lied about 9/11.
when palast lies about something as obvious as 9/11, how much of the rest of the crap coming out of his mouth is a lie? I'm starting to doubt his voter fraud and other reports, he's a shady guy with little to no integrity and very little honesty. Just a shady shithead, and a big believer in psychology which is 99% bs.
1000,000 tons of concrete each building, desks office furniture turned into powder. Just how does a gravity collapse explain that type of destruction? Bad form Mr. Palast.
Not to mention the molton metal in the basements weeks after the buildings were brought down. All the secondary explosions BEFORE and after the impact of the planes, the complete pulverisation of the buildings, the huge clowds of dust, layers thick in the streets. Anyone who doesn't have his head stuck in the sand, knows what really happend. If there will ever be a real investigation, it has to be who did it, not what really happend.
I saw this guy for the first time ever on Link TV yesterday. He has a lot of interesting stuff to say. I've been infuriated by the things that Bush/Cheney have been doing since 2001! The information that Palast provides makes me even more angry!!! What the heck is going on in this country?
here is the key COAnews...Greg is making ppl angry when if IMHO they were given complete knowledge they would feel differently. do you know that feeling when you understand something? Awe, graditute, deep appreciation for being alive
your definition of complete knowledge is not universal. I personally like the greg palast version of complete knowledge over yours. He at least acknowledges corporate power.
if you squeeze your head will shit run out your ears, you are so full of it. do the voices in your head tell you all of this bull shit, you have no prof of any of this, they call it looting that is wear all the banks went and its not any one's fault. ya good going change your book to Arabic and give them one more reasion to kill US soldiers, why don't you just move there if you love them that much.!!!!
US soldier use your book for toliat paper that is the only use for it.
Left liberal Gatekeeper. I asked this guy many months ago to be on my show, I invited him to meet Webster Tarpley and my offer stands (I have a daily TV show in Manhattan)
Don't call someone names, who does great work just because he won't appear on your show. Why must the left always cannibalize itself? You don't agree with him on 9-11, you wish he would go on your show, but I would hope you could be reflexive and not name call.
Left Liberal Gatekeeper refers to the fact that the left counts on him to give a different viewpoint. If corporate media needs more perspective then why should a show like mine be ignored, not be good enough have enough viewers? why don't you add the vids I've sent and let your viewers decide for themselves?
If your show doesn't have enough viewers it might not be the fault of myself or Greg Palast. It might just not be what people are interested, or more likely the fact that our society is government by corporations, including media - so media that questions elites will have trouble getting distributed. That is not the fault of me or Greg, it has more to do with an ecomic system in general - specifically the corporate media system. Greg Palast is not your enemy, corporations are.
I get from 1,000 to 3,000 hits a day on youtube and the Neilson ratings won't reveal the ratings on cable but I have a good sense of it and I am pleased. My comment meant people like Greg, BBC people what are they looking for? What ppl are interested in? 80% of the US population does not believe the offical version of 9/11. Corporations are just collections of human beings. Greg or they are not my enemy. Ignorance is
"Corporations are just collections of human beings" - Actually Corporations configure social relations. They are collections of human beings but they also socialize us, they also have huge implications for society, they are non-democratic, they function to centralize resources. I'm amazed that you would say that. Watch The Corporation, and read Tales of an Economic Hitman. That statement is the defination of ignorance.
I don't believe we should dialogue or try to reform corporations - I believe they have structural biases that are problematic (profit orientation). We need to create non-profit organizations and institutions. We need to change the structures that dominate society. It's not about individual people.
Why will Greg never do 9/11? How about the fact that the BBC is an intelligence assest? Everything he said about the Bushes Webster Tarpley said in 1992 "Unauthorized Bio of Geo Bush Sr." and Palast will not reveal the Nazi/Bush connection.
he stays away from 9-11 because he investigated it and found no credible evidence for the conspiracy. I'm so sick of 9-11 stuff - we are facing a systemic problem here, even if there was a conspiracy it doesn't matter. There's been many other more provable conspiracies since then. People just want to think everything would be ok if we just stopped this groups of people - it's a systemic problem, we must change the system.
do you know how the WTC came down? Why Guillani at 9:30 am in his command post in building 7 was told to get out because WTC # 1 and 2 were going to come down (why were the firefighters and other who died not told this)? then the building comes down at 5 pm with next to no fire..If I should be intimidated into not questioning, which to me is one of the healthest expressions of freedom then I should say THAT is the issue to look at.
I've read "Crossing The Rubicon" I understand the questions and theories. But they are just that questions and theories, the answers theorists posit require leaps of logic. You should not be intimidated, but I think we need to ask ourselves , what is the issue? Is it a few men, or a system. To me it's a system issue, so focusing on what may or may not have happened on 9-11 really misses the point and functions to insulate those in power.
"Crossing the Rubicon" is not a good book at all. Read something by Webster Tarpley a real expert on International Terrorism not an ex and probably still CIA agent. Look I'm all for people paying their rent but misinformation and disinformation clouds what could be pretty simple if given the freedom and intellectual freedom is the most important. thanks for the response
If the 9-11 folks would spend more time on changing the economic system we would be better off. Yes we know their are unanswered questions, we all know that, but enough with it - lets get to the root cause our problems - and be aware they existed well before 9-11.
The people responsible for 9-11 should be brought to justice, I respect 100% anyone willing to spend any part of their life to make sure that happens. Having said that I have an analogy, Imagine the twin towers and the plane are like that carnival game where you have to throw that ball and knock down the cups, but you know it's rigger cause the cups are heavier than the ball.
The only difference is the towers are a million times heavier than the plane and the towers are bolted down to a 185 feet of beadrock. It's so rigger that the only way to believe that the planes knocked down the towers is by miracle. Do you believe in miracles or what?
hear, hear! precisely my point how can a stupid people deserve a better monetary system (or whatever is "more Important to work on") until they realize what is going on. a good doctor listens carefully to the symptoms andthen can accuratley help
wow, now people who don't leap to accept that 9-11 is a conspiracy, are stupid? That's a bold statement. Most people understand our system is problematic (stratification), it's building a better system that is lacking - partly because we chase these theories as if, "if only all of us could see that 9-11 were a conspiracy everything would be ok".
I did not make that statement! I do not believe in labels (stupid and so on) to discover the truth but that respect, openmindedness and time to follow a discussion and line of reasoning. Ignorance can lead to a lot of problems, certainly terror but knowledge can relieve that
if we knocked out the Bush regime, they would be replaced by similar people playing similar roles. We would still have a oppressive system, we would still have huge inequality. These are figure heads of a system - focus on the system not the figure heads. I wonder if there is a conspiracy theory suggesting that there is a conspiracy keeping dissenting people focused on conspiracy theories rather then systemic issues.
The system will never change though, unless we defruad democracy. That system of government is still reveared by everyone in name and in practice, but it's now an old system and the power elite have had hundreds of years to currupt it and are activly doing so with great success. Are you calling for revolution or are you going after the major issues?
Bottom line on 9-11 Silverstein made 8 billion on a 14 million daollar investment, Haliburton etc. have made trillions on the rusulting wars. And there's countless other people, ways and companies that have benefited. Follow the money in this unsolved crime and you will find the culprit. Oh but that's right Bush blocked all investigations and destroyed or covered up all of the eveidence. Are we clear?
Yes but this is a leap of logic - just because people took advantage of the situation does not mean they created the situation. I know it seems so simple, but you just can't draw a conclusion from benefit to causation. Stock brokers made crazy money on 9-11, but I would say that's because they knew how it would affect the financial system, not because they were part of a conspiracy.
Gui8lanni said he KNEW that the 1st and 2nd towers were going to come down when he was in his command post at 9:30 am so he evacuated building 7. Why were the firefighters not told or anyone else? How is this "taking advantage of the situtation"?
I'm calling for participatory democracy, I'm calling for creating just structures that promote equality (co-ops, collectives, non-profit organizations, participatory democracy). If we have a system controlled by elites we will never have justice - even if we believe in the 9-11 conspiracy. We need to change the structure of society. One key issue is getting corporate money and lobbyist out of politics.
In case you missed it: Greg Palast apologizes to Dr. Steven Jones: "An

1d10cy 4 years ago
Most important was that Bremer's Order 37 would apply ''for 2004 and all subsequent years.'' A future government elected by Iraqis could not undo what the occupiers had commanded, not even their own nation's tax rates. The tax order, like every order, was designed so that future puppet governments would remain tangled in Bremers strings long after his departure.
1d10cy 4 years ago
Order Number 40, ''the Bank Law,'' sold off Iraqi banks to three foreign financiers. This implements pages 30 to 42 of the Economy Plan. Notably, Bremer chose to announce his fiat, not in Iraq, but in Dubai, at a meeting of international bankers.
1d10cy 4 years ago
Bremer lauded the ''extra element of competition'' that would result from his piecing off Iraqi banks; but competition was ruled out of the lucrative bidding itself. The fire sale was limited to Bremer's handpicked lucky few: Hong Kong Shangai Banking Corp, National Bank of Kuwait and Standard Chartered Bank of London, the junior partners of JP Morgan Chase of New York. Everybody got a piece of the Iraqi bank pie-except the Iraqis.
1d10cy 4 years ago
Simultaneous to parcelling out Iraq's banks, Bremer eliminated the prohibition on their charging high-''usurious''-interest rates, a sensitive issue in a Muslim nation. ''This means, '' said Bremer, without a hint of humour, ''Iraqis can enjoy modern banking and earn market rates of interest for their money''.
1d10cy 4 years ago
Unfortunately, there are not many Iraqi's with money to put into their new modern banks, especially after Bremer signed Order 12, ''Trade Liberalization Policy.'' Here the free-market fanatics' dream came true, turning Iraq into the world's FIRST large economy with no tariff protection WHATSOEVER.
1d10cy 4 years ago
No nation ON THE PLANET, except occupied Iraq, operates without tariffs (tax on imports) or quotas (limits on imports). Free market USA wouldn't do this nor free-market Britain nor free-market Chile-for good reason. A nation without protection is subject to ''dumping'' of surplus subsidized products, which would completely demolish local producers.
1d10cy 4 years ago
And that's exactly what happened in Iraq. Iraqi industry, having gone without new equipment for a decade due to sanctions, crawling back to life after the invasion, was shattered by Order 12. From candy kitchens to washing machine makers, Iraqi business went bankrupt.
1d10cy 4 years ago
The US ''shock and awe'' bombing campaign left manufacturing intact, but the bombardment of foreign goods without control flattened industry. This is free trade with a bullet, and it was devastating.

All from Greg Palast's book 'Armed Madhouse', along with many, many, many, things all should know!

2 yrs - bollocks Palast
fireant86 4 years ago
Palast is an economic investigator, and I've read Armed Madhouse, and it gives details of documented issues, which every man and woman should know. Fact is, 9/11 issues are hazy at best. This guy investigated Enron about energy issues, not the main scam. Economics and politics, are the issues within.
1d10cy 4 years ago
Amazing to see Mr. Palast lose his cool on the subject of 9/11. Note how he uses the language of Government in trying to deny the evidence for controlled demolition: 'We have looked into this claim and find there is no evidence to support it. It did not happen. We do not need to produce evidence to support our judgement. Our judgement is final.' So that's all right, then.

Fast forward to 13:00 to hear INN's very astute reporter pressing Mr. Palast about this selective investigative journalism phenomenon. To follow, investigate, work and uncover the facts that these folks have done such a wonderful job on and yet stop just short of it's obvious nexus is highly suspicious to me.
teerexness 4 years ago
Palast apologized to Dr. Jones.
PTTurboe 4 years ago
To me, that still doesn't excuse his (and those of his ilk's) amazingly selective brand of investigative journalism. Amy Goodman, Michael Moore and Seymour Hirsch also come to mind here. They'll rant against the mainstream media's reporting and credibility all day long, but when they get close to the real flame, they behave just like mainstream moths.
teerexness 4 years ago
This is the prototype of a "left-gatekeeper". "We've caught the neocons lying about EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN, but regarding the way the events of 9/11 happened etc., we've never found anything to doubt their story". WTF?? You are dead wrong Mr. Palast and you would know that if you bothered to investigate the most important event of our time.
teerexness 4 years ago
No engineers support controlled demolition hypothisis? Really? Not a very good investigatve journalist with such a blatant misstatement of the truth. Would Palast like the names of some engineers that disagree before he is exposed? We all make mistakes but with such an incorrect statement it appears that he has never even looked into the controlled demolition hypothesis. Perhaps he can take a look at ancient history too(not saying Jones is correct) RIP Bill Cooper
camstwin 4 years ago
Interesting. I wish Palast would actually give us the real facts about the demise of the twin towers or indead WTC7 and why he believes they fell down due to aircraft and debris alone. Is it not therefore important to guide the 'misguided'? Not too many can explain the molten metal found, the essential freefall (according to NIST) the ejected steel, the multiple reports of secondary explosions and the pyrpclastic flow.

Barbaricfellow 4 years ago
It seems a very large percentage of people who have now seen WTC7 do understand and are convinced that demolition charges were used to bring it down. If another terrorist attack occurred, this number would only grow. But your right, those who refuse to acknowledge it make it seem like people in general are unaware, when its quite th opposite.

Jones is not a fruitcake all of a sudden, he has been for years - see his previous research "proving" that Christ visited South America. Yes, there were explosions, there always are in fires, that does NOT mean there were demolition charges there, the firemen do NOT believe that.
dnf974 4 years ago
Man, people never cease to mangle facts and logic to make bad points. You know that, firstly he didn't claim to 'prove' it, but only analyze 'evidence' for for "Jesus" visiting South America (and considering that the biblical Jesus is a copy of previous prophets and divine agents, its not impossible that these ancient South Americans had their own "Jesus"), and secondly this at any rate this has NOTHING TO DO WITH the validity of Dr. Jones' PhD level research in physics? Right?

Ridiculous. Whether he believes the demolition theory or not is immaterial... Does he *have* to believe a theory that he's seen no official evidence for?

1d10cy 4 years ago
The question is: Where is the evidence? He is an investigative reporter with sources in the intelligence community. And he found no evidence for the inside job. I would like the conspiracy theorist to produce just one person who participated in the plot or has direct knowledge of any aspect of the plot. A plot like this must have involved hundreds, yet no one has come forward.
Now Palast is vilified because he doesn't support a conspiracy theory built entirely on speculation.

Doesn't this strike you as suspicious?

Good to see a real investigative journalist talking a lot of sense. About Iraq and about 9/11. There is absolutely no evidence of controlled demolition, even danny Jowenko does not think the towers were demolished, only WTC7. There is no reason molten metal should result from a controlled demolition, it was most likely aluminium melted by the fires that burned for weeks under the rubble.

So did it take TWO YEARS to wire WTC7??

do you know how the WTC came down? paulagloria 4 years ago

If the 9-11 folks would spend more time on changing the economic system we would be better off. Yes we know their are unanswered questions, we all know that, but enough with it - lets get to the root cause our problems - and be aware they existed well before 9-11.

wow, now people who don't leap to accept that 9-11 is a conspiracy, are stupid? That's a bold statement.

I wonder if there is a conspiracy theory suggesting that there is a conspiracy keeping dissenting people focused on conspiracy theories rather then systemic issues.

you've proved nothing, but it's a nice analogy

Participatory democracy = Mike Gravel's National Intiative.
Sound monetary policy = Ron Paul for pres.
