nero is vergil's son..it was confirmed by the manga. The place nero is living is where vergil went to. There is some background info that suggest that nero's mom is a prostitute which is why he was laughed at as a little kid. The town was full of prostitute when vergil was there.

Vergil even talked to sanctus the main antagonist of DMC4. He told him its funny that he worships sparda. And asked him who would he worship, the god or the son of the god who surpassed him. There's no more denying it.

2.its not prequel or a sequel it takes place in an alternate universe so this is not the Dante from the other 4 games.

They decided to reboot it with some shitty developer whose games have all flopped, and those developers are salivating at the chance to incorporate their failed mechanics into an already established game, while negating its fanbase with sheer arrogance. @TheRedMonika This game is/was far from awful, it just had a few things that were annoying like repeating the same levels in reverse order with two characters (Nero & Dante), but DMC3:Special Edition had the same thing with Vergil, and with even less difference (Vergil didn't even have story/videos between stages to carry the plot along, they just threw you into another stage you already played with Dante). DMC2 was the black sheep with totally different gameplay. DMC4 is so sweet on PC...

They really should have taken DMC to the next level instead of revamping the series with this new skinny emo Dante. I mean, Dante was an iconic character who faced danger with a smirk and took things in a nonchalant manner. This new Dante looks like he's going to be all angsty, wondering why he is the way he is.
