There were 2 rattlesnakes mating on a trail above Portola Valley, CA last weekend. Seemed totally unfazed by human on-lookers. A scene I'll never forget. Very cool.

I'm pretty sure the venom is neutralized after it has reacted and killed the prey. Snakes can poison each other.

I think of it kinda as a handgrenade. It's dangerous when you pull the pin and throw it, but after the explosion, there's just pieces of harmless metal left.

rattlesnakes aren't really picky of their surroundings much, just the temperature. A camera doesn't really bother them if it's just sitting there, unless there's a person.

did you notice how dead-looking the squirrel looked? The eyes were not clear. I am guessing it's a combination of "finding a live squirrel"--> the running shot "find a dead squirrel" --> the jammed on the floor and left there for the snake; Also another shot with snake being upset and attack the camera; However...there are many many videos where the photographer waited for hours!

The cameramen or women wait there for hours and days till they get the shot. Plus they'll leave bait and everything for the animals to try and set up their shot.
