  • Nice introduction to ev conversion tools.

I am embarking on my own first EV conversion of an aztek 7 1970's kit car....I am really looking forward to driving around my little piece of paradise ( Miami Beach ) in my EV !!! Good luck !!!

  • anybody interested in looking at thousands of conversions nationwide, please visit evalbum dot com

  • I was planning on building an ev car to but the problem was money. The motor and controller was just too expensive.I can get a hybrid car with both combined but still prefer to built one in the future.

  • Use the Internet for live or recorded consultations, trainings, and demonstrations. It will be very busy. Converting just one fifth still on the road of all major brands and models of vehicles needs a lot of people and some kind of standards. Parts companies will love to build stuffs to lower the costs for many of the proceedings. Thanks for showing us someone have ambitions driving this. This is encouraging.

  • Thank you sir for putting America back on the map. You're teaching people to learn how to be old school with new school ideas and ambitions. To dream the impossible dream. Just Do It, you go dude!!!

I'm sorry, I don't recall you giving your name.

I sure wish Governor Doyle would appoint a team of enthusiasts to learn from you and bring the trade back to Wisconsin to teach in all our tech schools. How much are you charging the Mexicans & Australians for your workshop?

    God Bless

  • sorry i not speak english!!pero me gusta tu video y el proyecto ,me gustaria saber que tipo de motor??y cuantas revuluciones da??y cuantos caballos de fuerza es el motor?? dame informacion. gracias!!!!

  • Leaving the alternator in place is not a good idea, alternators are wastefull. It takes away from your elctric motors and batteries more than 3 hp. Generating electricity with an electric motor and an alternator totally defeats your purpose.

Try running your electric motor with one battery and the alternator belted to the motor (the way you like it) even with no load to the alternator, I bet you it will kill your battery in less than 1 hour.

  • I've started an EV business and I'm loving every minute of it! I'm converting boats, but I have a hankering to tinker with a motor cycle and a car some day.

  • My boyfriend and I were just talking about how someone needs to cover the electric boating spectrum. I'd like to hear more about the progress you're making. Please reply.

My son and I are almost done making a video for You Tube with regard to the electric car. It's a funny 90 second skit. I'll send it to you if you like.

  • Sure! Send it on over! :)

  • this is going supernova!ö!

  • Get that alternator off that motor. The parasitic darg is killing the run time. Use the dc/dc. MUCH MUCH more efficient! Your using an alternator because your CHEAP.

  • bla bla bla.

I'm IN ONE OF THESE CLASSES!! :)

    Its great.

You can argue over battery design while you wait in line for gas.

  • I love this video!!!!! This is the people of this country making what they need for themselves. This is the people not sitting around whining that the big corporations arent doing the right thing. To hell with the greedy corporations. We can help ourselves!!!

  • I actually had in mind that one could take a Dodge Rampage and put not only batteries in the cargo bed, but a diesel generator as well. I was also thinking that it might make sense to haul batteries on a cart behind the vehicle, since you wouldn't have the problem of gross vehicle weight limit. Maybe you could haul the batteries in the pickup bed and the generator on a cart.

  • The storage efficiency of batteries is only 70%. You still need to produce electricity, probably from fossil fuels, with a primary to delivered energy efficiency of less than 40%.

  • If you use solar, wind or hydro power the total efficiency would be 59-87%. On average an internal combustion engine is 20.4% efficient. (Niether example includes the refining or transportation of fuel.)

Electricity from coal and the electrical distibution is far more efficient than the refining of oil and transportation of gas.

  • i want to add up, that 70% is for lead acid...

  • I never said Pb acid was the choice for me. Li-ION is 99% Ni-MH 95% and AGM Pb is 90-95% efficient. A direct drive with electronic transmission would save over 30% of total power.

Given a swap from an ICE to a DC motor with the old transmission and AMG Pb batteries the efficiency would be 62-77% to the driveline.

  • Cool video! I was thinking that an old Dodge Rampage Pickup(or volkswagon rabbit pickup) would make a good conversion to electric commuter car. You wouldn't have the payload anymore but your battery bay would be very simple.

  • who is the australian rep?

  • is there any one in or round montreal canda that can convert cars ? also what's the avrage cost

  • I saw thunderballss get paid by the OPEC-agents on a parkinglot in Flint, Michigan 2 months ago

  • WOW this is great ! thanks for posting.

I would love to see a step by step conversion.

  • why?? it'd be cool to hang around him for a few days just to get some knowledge on converting a car to electric
