i loved this game. it was great fun with 2 players. Me and my cousins would spend the whole night playing this thing and it was great fun. The music really brings the memories back. =)
Oh my good God... I remember playing this when I was 4 or 5 years old, on the Atari! I used to have dreams about it and everything! Absolutely the favourite game of my early childhood! I can't believe there wasn't even an arcade cabinet of it. I think I finished it as well, even went to that secret planet you have to get a bunch of green peppers on a certain level for or something. Going purely from distant memory here.
I'm so mad. I have 2 turbographx consoles and 6 controllers and a joystick. My brother lost all 50 games we had, including this one. The only game not lost is bomberman which is still in the console. -_-
I've recently played the NES version, and I must say, this is one of Taito's greatest games. Hopefully, the NES or PC-Engine version will be on our VC soon
Simply brilliant. Combining the gameplay of several other Taito games like Fairyland Story, Bubble Bobble, Rainbow Island, Don Doko Don and Pon Poko Pon, and perhaps the best music. And yeah, it's relatively rarer, but a must-play :-)
The game wasn't canceled, it was released by Working Designs (at the time one of the better companies for translating and bring over to the US Japanese titles), the game is very rare and fetches high prices on Ebay the few times it's ever listed.
Forgot to add, the one Bubble Bobble series game for the PC Engine that wasn't released in the US is the PC Engine Duo version of Rainbow Islands. That version is phenomenal with the arcade music (the actual arcade tunes in red book audio), perhaps that's the one you're thinking of.
The game was supposed to come to the Commodore 64, but the wife of the creator smashed up the master copy of it halfway through production if I remember correctly lol.
I love this game too. Your gameplay is excellent! You even manage to get the (only?) extra credit on level 1! Any chance of submitting videos for the other levels, as I'd love to see them?
I love this game! You should post a video of co-op mode, since that is the best thing about the game... being able to throw your helpless friend's body into a mass of approaching enemies is always fun!
one of my personal favourites in video games ever!!! It's so nice to milk points in this game ;D
