I like your honesty and simplicity... you just like the gun....I've seen it over at Shoot Straight in Tampa for $430.00 brand new with the with safeties... I want to buy one now, tho I already have the G26... thanks...
quick question since I'm new to handguns what is that little level right behind the slide release..not the mag release but that little lever if that makes sense
nice gun..this is the one I want to get after joining the military here soon hopefully this summer the only thing I am going to get is the optional safety since Im new to the whole firearm and all
I dont know but that is a very ugly gun. the sigma and m&p not my taste, but the new s&w sd9,sd40 are so so sexy. and shoot really nice too.. if i get a s&w its gonna be a sd40 or sd9....
Nice job on the video! I bought this gun today for myself but I thought I was going to buy the Bersa 380 two tone. I just had an eye for that gun and the reviews are all so good. But I am a lefty and this S&W works better for me so this is what I got and I bought the Bersa for my wife :) Now we are both well protected.
Not trying to rag on you but the takedown lever is spring loaded some lever stay down some don't. And S&W will tell you that, also u don't h2 lift the guild rod. Watch my vid about s&w m&p 40c recall/repair.
I have the same gun with the crimson trace laser grip. Still has the perfect grip feeling and the gun still fits perfectly in my belt carry holster. I carry this or the M&P 45 depending on the clothes I'm wearing. Winter time I always carry the 45. But this gun is nice in the summer where a t-shirt hangs just low enough to cover the barrel with my holster. Very accurate gun but I have also had a failure to eject problem. It's happening less frequently as I have pilot quite a few rounds th
Shot one today at the shooting range, will be getting this (with night sights and no safety) for my carry gun. Hardly any recoil and shoots great. Thanks for the review.
Popped the cherry today! Just bought my first pistol and am in love. Tucson guns was trying to get me to buy the 12 new glocks on display for about 20min.,then sitting solo, this sexy little beast caught my eye. i was convienced without a question within 5min. AZ is so awesome! no concealed class required! in and out fast and clean! The way every state MUST be. abuse the privilege because the rest of the world cant, m&p model for me!
You had a SR9? If you wanted a smaller gun why not the SR9c? Just curious because i'm stuck between these two pistol's. The SR9c is 399$ and the M&P is 529$ at my local gun dealer. M&P holds two more rounds, the SR9c is 129$ less in price. They both feel good in hand. I like that the M&P doesnt have a manual safety. What made you go with the M&P? Good review BTW.
@Reapers261 I shot the MP and absolutely loved the quality of the components and the appearance of it looks sharp (scalloped serrations, grip design, slide finish, etc.). Its really a matter of what you feel more comfortable with, if that means spending more money on a gun you love (and to rely on to potentially save your life for that matter) you "pull the trigger." The lack of a safety does not bother me anymore, its a safe gun! Thanks for the props!
Update, I lent my friend the Glock 19 and he lent me this, I'm giving it a try for a few weeks. Will let you guys know what my opinion is of it, not that it's worth much hahah.
I Have A Local Gun Range That Rents Guns And I Rented A M&P Compact 9mm And Out Of 1 Box Of Ammo The Gun Jammed Twice, Failure To Eject A Round On 2 Occasions But I Think It Was Due To Lack Of Cleaning, I Still Loved The Gun So Much I Still Bought One, I Don't Have A Permit Yet So I Have To Wait 3 Days For It, But Later Today I'm Taking A Concealed Class. This Gun Is Very Accurate For A 3.5" Barrel 1st Time I Ever Shot A Gun & I Had 3 Perfectly Clustered Targets And Almost A 4th, All Rounds Hit.
@OpeyJayProductions I really believe guns you rent at a range aren't indicative of the true quality, ever. I rented a Glock 27 a few weeks ago and just like you it jammed a dozen times probably, but I know Glocks are better than that! Let me know what you think of the gun, Im sure you got it by now!
Hey evo nice video i bought my wife the taurus pt 111 and sold it because because could not hit anything horrible so i bought her taurus pt809 too big for her i am keeping it for me and thinking of getting her s&w 9mm m&p compact 3.5" is the s&w 9mm m&p compact bigger or smaller then taurus pt111 9mm?
@sgmg09 sorry this is so late! I think its probably a tad bigger than the pt111 but with the smallest grip installed on the MP its nothing large at all! I put it in my pocket (unloaded of course) in between my apartment and my truck to conceal it sometimes and you would never recognize it, if that helps out at all
@Supermassively whatever your preference is is what you should decide. sorry to be obvious but 40 and 9 differ greatly, especially in a gun this size. 9mm is the cheapest but 40 is not that bad, not anywhere near as bad as 357 or 45!
I'm not the guy who did this review but you don't need a specific reason to carry a gun in Florida. It's a shall issue state, meaning that anyone 21 and over who has a clean record and can pass the course can get a permit to carry a firearm; the way it should be.
hey when break down my gun i have problems with my take dwon lever staayin down is sumthin wrong? or do it just need to be broke in since its only like 2weeks old
@evo595. what about that little S piece? i just bought tha same gun about a month ago n every time i take mine apart i pull tha trigger for tha slide to go forward. is that bad or something
@evo595, one crazy thing, my buddy has two (well, one is his ma's), one is an older model I think, or maybe just slightly different, because they are. Both m&p smith and wess's, but all three white dots fell off! The other one works perfectly. But, wth? Crazy, have you hever heard of something like this? Although I shoot it fine with no dots.
@mimaki0 the recoil spring is locked onto the guide rod, similar to most compact guns (g26, 27, etc) but i always put a few drops of break free on the recoil spring assembly when i clean it. rack the gun a few times after its cleaned and the spring/rod are now nice and lubricated.
@bralko85 to be honest i had never noticed it before shooting it, but i have it here with me and it does have a slight movement on the lower half. its nothing serious though, i mean i didnt even know until now
@evo595 cool, thx. i'm planning on purchasing this gun in 40S&W soon, and the trigger is my only real concern. trying to get all the facts so its good to hear from an owner
@bralko85 i really wouldn't worry about it at all, honestly. if its duty tested it should be good to go. i just converted a glock owner onto the MP after a range trip, its just as solid a gun as I could've hoped for
I wanted to say that i have been looking for a handgun for the past few months. After hearing about this gun after watching this video i want to buy it. This was very helpful for a first time pistol owner. very informational thanks for everything. stay blessed
@mrbland1985 i appreciate the kind words, as far as a first time owner i promise you this will not let you down. if you feel the need for more safety features they have models with a slide safety, mag safety, etc. to consider. good luck to you!
@mimaki0 it hasnt! ive only shot 600-700 rounds through it but as long as ive had it and numerous shooters who have used it there hasn't been one jam.
@natpimp10 the internal lock was not included with this gun, the spot is universal for all M&P models but i can assure you this one just has a plug in that spot.
@henryfio it definitely can. this gun is used as a duty weapon across the globe so it has been tested to hell and back (cheap Sig plug but you get the idea lol)
@streamfisher1 thats absolutely the truth. although i personally am not the biggest fan of glock they set the stage for the modern auto loading pistol.
@Glockizzle its the same concept as a g26. im not entirely sure the exact dimensions but they cant be too far off. weight is probably very similar to the g26
the compact is better for ccw. getting mine next month. have a gun show coming to town where im hoping to get a better deal, Any suggestions for a holster ccw style. cannot print as I have no lic in my state
@IzzyLopez360 well if you have no license i do not encourage you to carry, you are facing serious legal ramifications without a ccw permit. if you do end up getting your license i would recommend any raven or cross breed product, they seem to be the holster of choice for this gun.
@NIKON777 they have 2 bigger models of this 9mm as well, i believe the compact (not sub compact, like this one) and the full size as well. its similar to the glock family, aka the 17 19 and 26
I just bought the S&W M&P 40C as well. I love the size as I used to carry smaller 380 acp pocket pistols but frankly they are no fun to shoot. This gun is small enough to carry IWB or in a side holdster. The LCP I have is great and would do the job if needed. However, 10 rounds of 40 S&W is enough to do the job. Three back straps, solid fit and finish. Wonderful gun.
@philwisner36 380 is a solid little gun to carry all day for sure, but you are right saying they are no fun to shoot. this gun is small enough to carry but accurate and powerful enough to have fun at the range yet dependable enough to trust your life with.
I just picked up the same gun yesterday for my ccw. I did exhausting research on what to buy for my ccw. I was on my way to get the sr9c but at the store couldn't get over the fit and finish, loaded indicator chamber sticks way out, and all the platic parts. This one took the prize. The fit and finish couldn't even compare between the ruger and M&P. Was going to go with the sig p238 at first but price and the 380acp is nonexistent and crazy expensive in Denver right now. S&W got this 1 right.
Id reccomend the m and p for just about anyone, i carry the full size version, shoots well, adjustable hand grips make it so much better to customize for the size of your hand, ive read reviews where they cycled 40,000 rounds through one, without cleaning it, and it still NEVER jammed.
Southstar... I was told about the SR9 by a buddy of mine. I looked into the compact and it is a nice looking/feeling gun but everyone I talked to said don't waste your money. S&W has always made great revolvers and shit autos, but the M&P has got my attention. My best friend got one and now I am considering one for my wife. I'm a die hard Glock man and I would never trade mine for an M&P, but, I think S&W has really redeemed themselves on this one.
good video. I've had my M&P 9c for a year now with over 2000 rounds through it without a hiccup. great gun. I would highly suggest the crimson trace grips!
The M&P 40 is a kickass firearm. I carry the Fullsize M&P 40 on me everyday for my Concealed carry firearm. You cant even tell I have it on the Blade-Tech IWB nano holster makes the firearm vanish.
You really carry FS M&P ? Do you have any issues with comfort in the warmer months ? What about "printing" of your weapon ? Clothing conciderations ? Thanks, bro.
So I have on layers(under shirt,Shirt and sweater and then a zip up fleece zip up vest)I have had no problems with printing in the winter.Summer I have on a under shirt and a button down short sleeve shirt. I get under shirts one size bigger so when I tuck them in I can pull some slack out of my pants. With that and the button down shirt I have had no problems. I just added Crimson Trace grips(they go well with the night sights that came with the gun) I also just added a TLR 3 compact.
Weapon light but as of yet I have not started to carry it mounted on the weapon I'M waiting on my new holster. From Raven Concealment they make great gear and make one of the only IWB light holsters I have been able to find for the M&P. But they great thing is the holster can be OWB or IWB it comes ready to use in OWB but can be converted into IWB. I will let you know how it works.
Awesome weapon. I am picking up the M&P 40c. Nothing against 9mm, I've always been a bigger fan of the .40cal. Smith & Wesson did their homework and put out a great weapon. I know a lot of guys who are trading in their Glocks for the M&P.
I hear you on that one. I for one like the 9mm, its powerful enough and I can typically buy a box pretty much anywhere. I carried this gun all day today, its an incredible firearm.
do you know if it has that polygonal rifling barrel? like the glock or not? Not that the glock is the best. i was actually looking at the M&P 40c. thanks
I like your honesty and simplicity... you just like the gun....I've seen it over at Shoot Straight in Tampa for $430.00 brand new with the with safeties... I want to buy one now, tho I already have the G26... thanks...

The M&P 40 is a kickass firearm. I carry the Fullsize M&P 40 on me everyday for my Concealed carry firearm. You cant even tell I have it on the Blade-Tech IWB nano holster makes the firearm vanish.

@ militarysims,
You really carry FS M&P ?

Not that the glock is the best. i was actually looking at the M&P 40c. thanks
