God I used to watch this show when I was 14 I loved Chris and Rita they had so much chemistry the characters reminded me so much of my other favorite show the X-Files Mulder and Scully. This Video where Rita is talking to Chris by his grave is the most heartbreaking scene I hadn't watched this video's since it aired like 15 years ago UGH why did Rob what his character to die. It should of been a happy ending. I noticed in this clip Rita smiles why does she smile?
Still crying too ! I respect the fact that Rob wanted to quit the show but why the hell did the writers decide to kill Chris ?? Chris&Rita could have gone together, they could have chosen to work in a different unit or in a different part of the country for example...and leave together as a happy couple. Such a sad and unfair end.
i love all cop shows.. i can't stand the way the writers ended the saga of rita and chris.... this reminds me of the way t he ended New York's Undercover with killing Eddie after him and Nina finally found each other.. why do they kill off the good ones mainly when they finally have found some one to love..i am so mad that the killed of chris and then instead of keeping rita on for a few more shows they just sent her off into the sunset... how lame is that... im so mad @ these writers,
i think this show is one of the reasons why I like to watch law and order svu..god i miss this show..i wish they would have done a different ending with Rita and Chris...
there have only be three series that have made me cry, Beauty and the best when linda hamilton charactor died, The highland when Tessa died and duncan was standing in the shop remembering her and this series after Chris died. Great acting from all the people in each series i mentioned.

@joselynrodrigo Unfortunately, at the end of Season 4, Rob Estes made it known that he wanted to work with his then wife Josie Bisset. So the "powers that be" said that Season 5 would be Rob's last season; thus bringing C&R together; however it wasn't known that Chris would die until the week it was taped/filmed. It was apparently a shock for everyone on set who cared.
