This is my all time favorite movie....it reminds me to this day how I would've turned out if it wasn't for my Dad moving us around when I was young. I was heading down this road. I even had my own crew but I had to answer to a higher dai low. (Big Brother)
@Frequent2001 I was about 16, it starts out in school. You hang out with one of their brothers, then get introduced to the gang, then you find out who the "dai lo" is. From there you follow him where ever he goes. You were ready to fight at any given time, or you were to call more members to meet up to fight. We never really harassed the shop keepers, it was all set up when I joined. Once "Dai Lo" trusted you, he'd tell you to the shops to pick up an envolope and come back.
@Robtamm When you came back he'd give you like 50 to 100 dollars. Then he'd take a set group of guys to go with him to party or go out to dinner. Most of the time if it's going out to dinner, it means he's shaking down the owner. We would eat dinner there, Dai Lo would do all the talking to the owner. He would tell them hey you don't want us to come back and you want to make sure no other gang comes by to disturb your business then pay us every month, or we'll come by every friday.
@Robtamm Plus we never paid everytime we eat there. When we fight we would grab anything we find for a weapon, bottles, bricks, if there was a store there, we'd run in grab stuff for weapons and use it to fight. If they brought a gun to the fight, we would run off and go get some guns and go looking for them. Back then no one really brought guns to a fight, everything else but no guns. I remember riding in car with some gang members.
@Robtamm...and suddenly 2 other cars and our car full of people had boxed in a city bus. Apparently on the bus were these 2 black kids that jumped a gang members brother in the gym, robbed him and beat him up pretty bad. The bus driver wouldn't open the door, but on the bus there was 2 of our gang members that forced him to open the door, they dragged the 2 black kids off the bus and threw them in car and drove off, never found out what happened to them...that was life.
