Geeez people i think that the vita looks ok but isn't really different to the psp and psp 3000. Sony just keeps on remaking the psp just a bit slimmer and more colourful though and that's it. The vita's only big improvements is the touchscreen which the ds had right at the start and another analog stick. So I'd go for the 3DS because it has more brand new features and looks like a promising handheld.

Uncharted Golden Abyss, Wipeout 2048, Gravity Daze, Everybody’s Golf, Reality Fighters, LittleDeviants, Super Stardust Delta, Modnation Racers, Sound Shapes, Virtua Tennis 4, Hustle Kings, Top Darts, BlazBlue Continuum Shift 2 Plus, Disgaea 3 Returns, Ruin and Shinobido 2 are the set launch titles and quite a few more games are releasing in its launch window.

@FFFan3445 I know what I said, but here's some facts. Your precious OLED has the worst lifespan of any current LED system, thus making the system bad for hardcore gamers who are going to play 5-6 hours a day. Blue color balance is rancid, it consumes almost twice as much battery as a normal LED screen, and playing with the sun shining down is basically impossible due to the reflectiveness of the metallic cathode. Normal LED's, such as the ones in the 3DS, suffer none of these problems.

@Funknote I like RPG and action-adventure games much more than shooters, when they're done right. I play games on a case-by-case basis, I'll play most games as long as they're good. Nintendo's current systems have some nice exclusive RPGs and action-adventure games, but the average third-party developer doesn't make big-budget titles for Nintendo systems. I don't care about advanced graphics, but more powerful hardware attracts third-party developers. That's a huge plus of the Vita.

@Funknote The Wii U is just going to get PS3/360 ports for its first two years and after that point the PS4 and 720 are due to release. You don't make exclusive games for a new system unless they suck or the system's sold a ton of units. It'd be a bad business move for any company except Nintendo. I'm sure the PS4 and 720 will be huge leaps above the Wii U in power, you won't be able to run Unreal Engine 4 games on the Wii U for sure.

@Funknote If I had my way game hardware would only be about as powerful as a Gamecube. Still, the fact that the Wii U won't be able to run games on par with that Samaritan tech demo ruins its chances of getting ports of tons of games. This is why Nintendo's consoles don't get good third-party support, the systems are made for Nintendo titles and it seems like that's all that fans want.

The Vita is larger than a PSP. Vita games look like they'll be quite a bit better than what was offered on the PSP, but I doubt you know a thing about this. You don't HAVE TO BE ONLINE to download Vita games, you HAVE THE OPTION TO DOWNLOAD ANY GAME FOR THE VITA, even the ones that hit retail.

One big problem with that is that you can't get games like Deus Ex: HR or Mass Effect on the go without a system that can handle an advanced game engine. It's harder to develop a good-looking game for a weak system than for a powerful one, developers think that's pretty important.
I want good third-party games and power does matter for third-party support. :<

That said, there are tons of huge things that can be done to improve the design of the 3DS and the only thing I can think of to improve the Vita would be to make it work as a phone. That's kind of a big deal, even a Nintendo fanatic like you or me can see that.

The 3DS eShop is embarrassing, there's only one slide pad, there's no 3G support, no messaging between people on your friends list, you can't buy retail 3DS games through the eShop(every Vita game is downloadable, most PSP games are as well), the price of the 3DS should've ensured that it be a quality product but the price drop proves otherwise.

PS3-quality experiences for $40 is great, and games like Wipeout 2048 are between $10 and $20. No 3DS game is in that price range, it's either overpriced Virtual Console filth or retail stuff at $40. There's no in-between, unless you absolutely must play "Balloon Pop 2." Uncharted: Golden Abyss is undoubtedly going to be much higher quality than Super Mario 3D Land.

Of course developers wanna get paid but there isn't a 3DS game that's worth its $40 price point right now, and I'm not convinced yet that Super Mario 3D Land is at the same level of quality as Super Mario Galaxy or Super Mario 64. I honestly wanted to love Nintendo but I've finally been able to let go. Great feeling, really.

Geeez people i think that the vita looks ok but isn't really different to the psp and psp 3000. Sony just keeps on remaking the psp just a bit slimmer and more colourful though and that's it. The vita's only big improvements is the touchscreen which the ds had right at the start and another analog stick. So I'd go for the 3DS because it has more brand new features and looks like a promising handheld.

Uncharted Golden Abyss, Wipeout 2048, Gravity Daze, Everybody’s Golf, Reality Fighters, LittleDeviants, Super Stardust Delta, Modnation Racers, Sound Shapes, Virtua Tennis 4, Hustle Kings, Top Darts, BlazBlue Continuum Shift 2 Plus, Disgaea 3 Returns, Ruin and Shinobido 2 are the set launch titles and quite a few more games are releasing in its launch window.

@FFFan3445 I know what I said, but here's some facts. Your precious OLED has the worst lifespan of any current LED system, thus making the system bad for hardcore gamers who are going to play 5-6 hours a day. Blue color balance is rancid, it consumes almost twice as much battery as a normal LED screen, and playing with the sun shining down is basically impossible due to the reflectiveness of the metallic cathode. Normal LED's, such as the ones in the 3DS, suffer none of these problems.

@Funknote I like RPG and action-adventure games much more than shooters, when they're done right. I play games on a case-by-case basis, I'll play most games as long as they're good. Nintendo's current systems have some nice exclusive RPGs and action-adventure games, but the average third-party developer doesn't make big-budget titles for Nintendo systems. I don't care about advanced graphics, but more powerful hardware attracts third-party developers. That's a huge plus of the Vita.

@Funknote The Wii U is just going to get PS3/360 ports for its first two years and after that point the PS4 and 720 are due to release. You don't make exclusive games for a new system unless they suck or the system's sold a ton of units. It'd be a bad business move for any company except Nintendo. I'm sure the PS4 and 720 will be huge leaps above the Wii U in power, you won't be able to run Unreal Engine 4 games on the Wii U for sure.
My gaming PC can run the Samaritan tech demo, I'm set. :B

@Funknote If I had my way game hardware would only be about as powerful as a Gamecube. Still, the fact that the Wii U won't be able to run games on par with that Samaritan tech demo ruins its chances of getting ports of tons of games. This is why Nintendo's consoles don't get good third-party support, the systems are made for Nintendo titles and it seems like that's all that fans want.
I honestly want Nintendo to succeed, but their 3DS system is SO horrible... I just wish they'd scrap it. ;___;

Some people say "why would you want to play portable games when you could play console games?" I say the opposite. There will always be a market for portable game systems. It isn't a niche. The Vita is larger than a PSP. Vita games look like they'll be quite a bit better than what was offered on the PSP, but I doubt you know a thing about this. You don't HAVE TO BE ONLINE to download Vita games, you HAVE THE OPTION TO DOWNLOAD ANY GAME FOR THE VITA, even the ones that hit retail.

@Funknote I'd be fine with just having a system as powerful as an N64 or a PS1 on the go, but I'd expect the price to match up with that. One big problem with that is that you can't get games like Deus Ex: HR or Mass Effect on the go without a system that can handle an advanced game engine. It's harder to develop a good-looking game for a weak system than for a powerful one, developers think that's pretty important.
I want good third-party games and power does matter for third-party support. :<

That said, there are tons of huge things that can be done to improve the design of the 3DS and the only thing I can think of to improve the Vita would be to make it work as a phone. That's kind of a big deal, even a Nintendo fanatic like you or me can see that.

@smashmeta18 The 3DS adds a shitty 3D effect that not everyone can enjoy and doesn't push the Nintendo experience into the new decade. The 3DS eShop is embarrassing, there's only one slide pad, there's no 3G support, no messaging between people on your friends list, you can't buy retail 3DS games through the eShop(every Vita game is downloadable, most PSP games are as well), the price of the 3DS should've ensured that it be a quality product but the price drop proves otherwise.

PS3-quality experiences for $40 is great, and games like Wipeout 2048 are between $10 and $20. No 3DS game is in that price range, it's either overpriced Virtual Console filth or retail stuff at $40. There's no in-between, unless you absolutely must play "Balloon Pop 2." Uncharted: Golden Abyss is undoubtedly going to be much higher quality than Super Mario 3D Land.

and btw, developers also want to be paid, BUT ANYWAYS, why are you sitting in front of a computer angering yourself? Im worried about you, dude. Go out, socialize, its much easier to have fun than to spread hate. EVERYBODY CAN HAVE FUN! TRY IT! :D

@Paulolz22 I find spreading hate fun, it's a very entertaining experience for me. I'm not angering myself, I'm letting out stress by attacking things. Very therapeutic.
Of course developers wanna get paid but there isn't a 3DS game that's worth its $40 price point right now, and I'm not convinced yet that Super Mario 3D Land is at the same level of quality as Super Mario Galaxy or Super Mario 64. I honestly wanted to love Nintendo but I've finally been able to let go. Great feeling, really.
