  • good idea, keeping a tortoise in a cage for dogs and cats... I might use it since i HATE tortoise tables... I love keeping them in tanks though.

  • my turtle is not as fun :(

  • this guy seems verry active..^^ more active than my bunny xD....one time i also wanna have such a buddy...=]...

  • D: he destroyed the "bridge" xD soooooo cute :D my advice : when you have time... you could let him free in the house :]

  • every time i have a turtle or tortoise all they do is sleep and when i get them out they just want to cuddle

  • hehehehehe so cute!

And I think your cage is perfectly fine for your turtle, albeit a wee bit small, but still, quite nice for a turtle his size!

And not everybody can keep tortoises outside, because they run away quite easily/don't have the room for it.

  • HIS HEAD LOL

  • poor lil guy.. trapped in that place for days and days.. why wont u set it free? i felt pity fir it... i wonder how would you feel if you were being cage like that.

  • cute and funny ! :D he moves hes head alot! ;D;D

  • He tries to escape like , 8 times in that right corner . your turtle is very interesting :D

  • mazanwithsasha> Just wanted to say that your Japanese is pretty good! At a glance, I didn't notice it was made by a non-native Japanese speaker!! Thanks for the comment.

  • so cute

  • lol it must be in good shape going up and down those stairs all day long! :D

  • YES, No more faceplants but fix my ramp!

  • wat are you feeding them ? pls reply tnx

  • @cyszaii Mostly wild weeds during warmer seasons. There are some weed species that they eat. I suggest trying the species you can find in your neighborhood. Dandelion is one of their favorites. But be careful for any pesticide/herbicide sprayed by somebody.

  • i can has lettuce?

  • 楽しそうだな

  • jee, u inspire me! i should film my 3 turtles as well...

  • Correction I meant fast motion.. =P

  • I know it's in slo-mo but it looks like it nodding his head the whole time lol like hey little turtle you hungry? NOoo. u thristy? NOoo u wanna go out? NOoo. Noo Noo along the way

  • they're small but if u use UVB light they will be very hurry

  • What program did you use to capture in time-lapse video?

I wanta do that too with my russian tortoise :D

  • bergice1: I used Mac's iMovie. It has can take time-lapsed video from the internal iSight camera. Looking forward to see yours!

  • @xxstarvingxx they usually get about 7 inches wide and long...a female can get up to 10 inches...a male is about 5-7 inches

  • that lucky turtle is an internet star....

  • HE FALLS AT 8:45 =O

  • you should take him out 2 play more often

  • Can somebody please tell me if a Russian Tortoise can swim? Thanks.

  • no they can't swim and dont try do this 'cause ur turtle will die

  • his head moves so much! its hilarious!! and cute! I love tortoises!!!

  • put something around the base of the wire part, he keeps walking into the cage around the AstroTurf so block it so he cant see through and this should stop him from trying to walk through it.

  • THAT TURTLE DRNKS A LOT OF COFFE!!

  • at 6.40 that can damage its shell fromm rubbing

  • i can only watch til about 5 min mark, not cuase its boring, just cause theres no sound and im about to fall asleep cause i just got back from warped tour

  • 6:40 to 7:05 I think he really wanted to get out lol

  • haha he stuck his head through the bars at one point

  • hahah hes trying to escape!!

  • every minute of the video is roughly a little bit under one second.

  • wow, he's an active little booger isn't he? i didn't know they move that much.

  • if u let them run around every day and they are healthy they are alllllllll active and tortoises are the greatest thing ever.

  • :) this is great.

You seem like a tortoise expert.

Im getting one in a few days....would it be okay to put sand on the bottom of his habitat?

  • Orange, im not expert, but I don't recommend it, it provides little heat and can get in his eyes/shell.

  • lol at 2:57 he got centered on the bin

  • ahaha 1:29

  • where do u live?????

  • ooow... wanna go ouT!!

  • That's cool that you taped this! I should do that for my hamster.

  • thats one spazzy turtle lol! Thats a really cool habitat you made for him.

  • I know that this is a time-lapse video, but he looks HYPER! >:D

  • Thats interesting~!!!

  • 2:37 NINJA TORTOISE!

  • this is interesting, but those bricks might scatch his/her shell

  • there are rocks in nature you know. they can handle a little

  • i know

  • Alll such a great owner <3 mean owner just put water food sand thats all but u put alot of stuff for him <3

  • i have no clue if this is normal: my tortoise(sam) is in my room. When i come in hes really quiet. Then he startes running/climbing up against the glass enclosure hes in. So i take him out and he just calms down... its weird

  • glass is invisible to them

  • Super!

  • That is so cool!! Thanks for sharing, I love it! And beautiful tortoise, by the way.

  • how much does just the turtle cost

  • they can cost from 80$ to 120 depending on where u get them

  • Damn that is one great strong brave tortoise! I so!!! want to get one of those turtles!! but i have to get a good report card....

  • I like how he can use the ramp or the bricks, very nice. Also like the mixed terrains. It that astroturf? (Fake grass)?

  • i love your vids =)

  • Are all tortoises this way? It appears that most of their day they spend trying to escape. I am planning on getting a Russian pretty soon. I didn't know they tried to escape so much.

  • Trying to escape or having fun exploring? Can you tell so easily?

  • Comment removed

  • in the case of Sunny(my russian tortoise) I thought she was trying to escape a lot, but i realized it was that she didn't know she was in a glass enclosure. Once I put some paintings around it she figured it out and plays in the middle a lot more.

  • My russian (Stevie) does the exact same thing

  • Seriously right now Pauliturtle?

His tank has a very nice set up. not nessesarilly natural but the turtl appears to always be moving and happy. and how the heck would you know how long the light burns? for all oyu know he is using an infer-red light bulb which can be on twenty-four seven. HakuganThe tank looks like alot of fun i like your idea of a bin on one side with substrate in it and a flat mat area on the other side, with all the bricks for him to climb on! good work!

  • Thanks! And great observation!!!!

  • he looks really happy there..hehe

  • so kool

  • the light in this cage burns too long. normally 3 hours!!! Cage is too small, it's very boring for your tortoise.

  • Please!

Go to your nearby zoo and express your noble activist thinking there. The world is not going to change as you like by commenting on youtube.

  • Suffers? This guy takes amazing care of his tortoise, and I'm sure the tortoise loves his owner and would like to be with him the rest of his life. In your theory, we as humans should just stop having pets altogether? Or do you just feel this way about tortoise? Anyhow, great job Hakugan on an incredibly healthy tortoise.

  • i agree with u ive seen other vids of Hakugans tortoise and he takes great care of him! thanks to him im thinking of buying a russian tortoise myself they're adorable

  • If this person didnt by it sombody else would have. Besides, if he was out in the wild he would have to survive by himself. There a pretty good chance a predator would have him for lunch. The tortoise also gets his food delivered right in front of him. its more worse to have a dog than a tortoise!!!!

  • one thing i could add

    that tortoise is to hot

but other than that i recon this guy spoils his tortoise

    well jelious

  • @JuliaSt979 you belong in a cage you retard. its called a "pet"

  • damn.. what a stress life for that little animal. You should put it con a yard or something

  • I could watch this forever.

  • He's very aware/observant/curious.

  • i want to buy a russian tortois any idea were i could get 1 from including cage

  • cool

  • 2:43 lol.

  • That is my favorite part too. I also like 7:50-7:59

  • lol :)

  • 外に出たそう(笑)かわいいです。

  • omg this is awesome!

  • I like the way you set up your new habitat. I also want to get a russian tortoise so my False Map Turtle won't be lonely but I don't know if I'm going to put them together because a russian=land and False map=water so I don't know but anyway I like your tortoise

  • Those are two very different species. Tortoises and Turtles are not very social, so usually they are pretty happy being alone. So I don't think you have to worry very much about your False Map Turtle.

  • But hes a terrapin, so its not going to work out? ok then Ill just put them seperate

  • I didn't know tortoises moved their heads so much. It's cute to see :)

  • By the way, why doesn't he have any water?

  • The tortoise's head movement is definitely one of the fun thing to look at. By tracking this, you can kind of predict what he/she is thinking. As for water, the brown porcelain thing is the water container. Although, Russian tortoise is a tortoise from a pretty arid area, so their water requirement is not very high. We only see him drink water during a bath.

  • Okay. Thank you for explaining. :)

  • starts to move when food gets there lol awesome russian

  • OMG! So adorable:)

  • What an awesome video!!! lol thats all my russian does...eats...sleeps...and tries to exscape.. i wish

  • この動画すごくすきです^^

  • lol hes cute
