@ADRIAN01225 I agree about the Mercs, I too have friend in the Warranty Passenger Cars dept of Merc UK, and you'd be surprised at the failures - including the S-Class which threw its gearbox within a mile of being driven from the dealers!
However, good as the Mondeo is, it still struggles against such cars as the Skoda Superb or VW Passat etc. Netter than the Insignificant (Insignia) tho.
Brilliant car!!! Had to chose between Insignia and this... and no question , it's Ford! Awesome handling, 52Mpg easy with the 2liter TDCI, great look and huge boot! :)
Ford mondeo is good ! I had some days back a 1,8 td 1999 and it was great car .Beautyful and comfort 5-8liters per 100km ,not very fast but great to drive !

I had an Opel Vectra and rented a Ford Mondeo while it was being serviced. I loved the Mondeo so much I replaced the Vectra with one.
While my Mondeo was being serviced last week I rented a brand new Volkswagen Passat with Bluemotion Technology. Now I'm looking for a Passat to replace the Mondeo. I much prefer the exterior of the Mondeo than the Passat but the Passat has a better interior and better features.
I love this car! I have the Titanium X 2.0 diesel. Wonderful car to drive, refined engine(although is a Peugeot engine) and plenty of space. However the quality inside is questionable. But we all know Ford is not famous for that but for handling and all.

They are bringing out a completely new shape Mondeo. I saw an impression in a well known UK motoring magazine the other day. It will be more in a Coupe shape. In blue it looked beautiful. So we have something to look forward to !!!!

The parts in my Mondeo don't fall off.
I drive a 07 model. Sure it isn't an AUDI, BMW or Mercedes. But it also doesn't cost that amount of money.
The only thing i would describe as a problem is a sound that comes from the pillar between or behind the doors. But for that exists a technical service information and Ford does fix that.
I'm very happy with that car, especially with the 2.5l Turbo engine&220hp. :o)

@flyerholland Rental cars cover up to 30,000 miles before they are stuck off as deletes. Delete means they have been sold to someone and are due to go on. Fords usually start to rattle inside after about 2,500 miles, I always found them to rattle after this amount of milage. The build quality on Fords and GM is crap though. The top half tends to be ok, but they flex and creak around like soft butter around the handbrake area.

What!? I drive these cars all the time, they are crap! Those silver strips around the windows peel off, the plastic surrounds come loose & fall off. The seats are hard + awful to sit in, passenger seat doesn't have height lever & everything falls off in the interior. Ford just re-cycled a crappy Ford Galaxy & pretended its something special!
Mondeo is a very pretty car. But I've noticed pretty much all Euro sedans are beautifiul nowadays. 159 (OMG!), Insignia, C5, A4, S40, 3-series (controversial?), C class, Laguna (not my cup of tea) heck even something mundane like the new Accord and Passat aren't bad looking. It's hard to go wrong when the ugliest sedans are the 407 and the Japanese appliances.
I've bought this car... (BTW it was really great jump from my old Mondeo to this sugar) and I wanna see you when you sit into this, especially your stunned faces.
Inside - it's like in tank, but awesome luxury tank. And for that price (for me about 30 000 €) is absolutely amazing.
I know this video isn't showing the real face and the feel when you touch the steering wheel...
@fentonjd The Insignia is a big sucess and it looks very beautiful. There is far more room on the back seat of the Mondeo. Three big people can sit comfortably in the back of the Mondeo. The Insignia has much less room for back seat passenger, particularly the back middle seat, as the Insignia has that beautiful coupe shape. I saw in a magazine that a new more sporty Mondeo is on the way. It looked very nice in the picture (much more streamline).
@cattleman6420012000 I work for enterprise & I drive Insigs + new shape monds all the time both petrol & diesel. Insigs handle better but for the size of car the passenger room is very poor. I usually drive them I've been a passenger only once & its very cramped & small for what it is.
@cattleman6420012000 To me Insignias are a bit of a let-down over the big press hype, I find the ride is unpleasantly firm & crashy, the clutches are often violent & snappy especially 2.0 CDTi's which are easy to stall. They are absolutely loaded with equipment especially Elites but its completely opposite to a big-comfortable car
I totally love my mondeo, although i have LX TDDI 2L , I can certainly get some serious speed and power from my car, shes a diamond, might keep for another year then get a aldi A4.

Twin exhaust and sports body kit won't change that boring unimaginative rear light! The Mondeo dosen't achieve the head turns when it's on a street(never did)! On the other hand the Insignia is a far more attractive car! Maybe it's not as good as a Mondeo but it's prettier!

It's not so much being unable to tell the difference, it's mostly when people who've had a petrol car for years suddenly get a diesel, then put petrol in it out of habit since they've always put petrol in their previous cars. Or vice versa.

Apparently those cars had to be over 10 years old, cause no one in their right minds will ever trade a brand new Audi A6 and/or BMW 5-series for a horrible, loq-quality piece of a plastic bucket called Ford Mondeo.
I bet you regret now though, after finding out all the problems and corrotion those cars always have been bothered with, it have also probably lost it's initial value by over 60% at this time.. mondeos have a huge depriciation, they've always had that.
Actually I don't regret it one bit. It was an A4 though, and it was 2.5 years old. The BMW was four years old when I sold it and bought the brand new Audi. Both of them were nice cars, but way too expansive - not only the purchase price, but particularly the service (and I'm from germany where both are comparativley low). The Mondeo offers SUPERB value for money, and I've been driving it for over a year now without experiencing any problems.
Trouble is with Monds is they are nice to drive/look at/ be in but they lack cabin quality, I work for enterprise & drive these a lot, I wouldn't like to own one. Things like doors seals, trims, linings always peel away or fall off on the outside & the inside does develop annoying rattles. Buy German if you have the money don't down-step from German to Ford now I can see why.

Ford needs to work on their interiors first, then learn how to finish off the outside of a car with a decent looking body kit. Car looked great in Casino Royale but in real life looks like another cheap Focus that no one wants to drive. Oh and if you haven't seen Casino Royale ...rent it, it's a great 007 flick!

the only ford i'd buy now is the mustang gt500 (just to upgrade the suspension and tune the engine to create a 900hp drifting monster, seen it before here in the states, plus it is a beautiful car).There is the F150 to haul car engines and drag & circuit cars around in, The Ford GT is the perfect car any company wishes to have, but Ford is lacking finesse in the DAILY DRIVER SEDAN lineup in the states, this MONDEO would help, alot.

In fact you can compare an audi A4 to a ford mondeo, they are in the same car calss and segment. And a 140hp diesel mondeo costs about the same as the New Audi A4 2.0TDI with 143hp, which is the smallest engine delivered to the A4 range. Who in their right minds would buy a fraud mondeo 1.6 litre petrol engine? To me it's obvious, i'd go for the A4, it will not depreciate as rapidly as the fod and the A4 looks 100 times nicer and have a much higher level of quality

no it's not the same platform, the Mazda6 uses the CD3, the Mondeo uses the EUCD, it shares it with the V70 only. the Mazda6 Platform is shared with the USDM Fusion, Edge, Milan and the Mark Z

I just feel good in this car, my car by the way !
41.5 MPG average real world fuel economy (5.8 l/100 km).
On the road, It does what iI want ( perfect ride and handling - forget its segment and no comparison to BMW or Audis or Mercs)
It's extremely well insulated and doesn't squik or rattle
I feel safe with it (best in it's class)
I will not exchange it with any other car...It's one of the well balanced car in the market !
I highly recommend it !

@flyerholland Rental cars cover up to 30,000 miles before they are stuck off as deletes. Delete means they have been sold to someone and are due to go on. Fords usually start to rattle inside after about 2,500 miles, I always found them to rattle after this amount of milage. The build quality on Fords and GM is crap though. The top half tends to be ok, but they flex and creak around like soft butter around the handbrake area.

What!? I drive these cars all the time, they are crap! Those silver strips around the windows peel off, the plastic surrounds come loose & fall off. The seats are hard + awful to sit in, passenger seat doesn't have height lever & everything falls off in the interior. Ford just re-cycled a crappy Ford Galaxy & pretended its something special!

Mondeo is a very pretty car. But I've noticed pretty much all Euro sedans are beautifiul nowadays. 159 (OMG!), Insignia, C5, A4, S40, 3-series (controversial?), C class, Laguna (not my cup of tea) heck even something mundane like the new Accord and Passat aren't bad looking. It's hard to go wrong when the ugliest sedans are the 407 and the Japanese appliances.

My subjective opinion:
I've bought this car... (BTW it was really great jump from my old Mondeo to this sugar) and I wanna see you when you sit into this, especially your stunned faces.
Inside - it's like in tank, but awesome luxury tank. And for that price (for me about 30 000 €) is absolutely amazing.
I know this video isn't showing the real face and the feel when you touch the steering wheel...

The insiginia has got to be destroying the mondeo's sales.
Interior can be as nice as you like, but the exterior looks piss poor compared to the insignia. Facelift is needed ASAP

@fentonjd The Insignia is a big sucess and it looks very beautiful. There is far more room on the back seat of the Mondeo. Three big people can sit comfortably in the back of the Mondeo. The Insignia has much less room for back seat passenger, particularly the back middle seat, as the Insignia has that beautiful coupe shape. I saw in a magazine that a new more sporty Mondeo is on the way. It looked very nice in the picture (much more streamline).

@cattleman6420012000 I work for enterprise & I drive Insigs + new shape monds all the time both petrol & diesel. Insigs handle better but for the size of car the passenger room is very poor. I usually drive them I've been a passenger only once & its very cramped & small for what it is.

@cattleman6420012000 To me Insignias are a bit of a let-down over the big press hype, I find the ride is unpleasantly firm & crashy, the clutches are often violent & snappy especially 2.0 CDTi's which are easy to stall. They are absolutely loaded with equipment especially Elites but its completely opposite to a big-comfortable car

i have a ford mondeo 2009, 2.3L...its really one of d best cars in its segment..& cause there r no more than 10 mondeos in my town its an eye catcher...but the thing it wows everyone by the looks and the hugeness but me..i love it..but sometimes i feel it is huge without a statement to make....not a very good presence....i wld go 4 d insignia even if it rides worst than the mondeo..its just more desirable for me....any ways i am an OPEL fan although i have a hyundai and a mondeo at present :S:S

I wont say Ford are chasing down BMW. The 2 liter 3 series gets 7 more mpg and is 2 seconds quicker to 60 than the 2 liter Mondeo.

Twin exhaust and sports body kit won't change that boring unimaginative rear light! The Mondeo dosen't achieve the head turns when it's on a street(never did)! On the other hand the Insignia is a far more attractive car! Maybe it's not as good as a Mondeo but it's prettier!

Apparently those cars had to be over 10 years old, cause no one in their right minds will ever trade a brand new Audi A6 and/or BMW 5-series for a horrible, loq-quality piece of a plastic bucket called Ford Mondeo.
I bet you regret now though, after finding out all the problems and corrotion those cars always have been bothered with, it have also probably lost it's initial value by over 60% at this time.. mondeos have a huge depriciation, they've always had that.

Actually I don't regret it one bit. It was an A4 though, and it was 2.5 years old. The BMW was four years old when I sold it and bought the brand new Audi. Both of them were nice cars, but way too expansive - not only the purchase price, but particularly the service (and I'm from germany where both are comparativley low). The Mondeo offers SUPERB value for money, and I've been driving it for over a year now without experiencing any problems.

Trouble is with Monds is they are nice to drive/look at/ be in but they lack cabin quality, I work for enterprise & drive these a lot, I wouldn't like to own one. Things like doors seals, trims, linings always peel away or fall off on the outside & the inside does develop annoying rattles. Buy German if you have the money don't down-step from German to Ford now I can see why.

Ford needs to work on their interiors first, then learn how to finish off the outside of a car with a decent looking body kit. Car looked great in Casino Royale but in real life looks like another cheap Focus that no one wants to drive. Oh and if you haven't seen Casino Royale ...rent it, it's a great 007 flick!

wrong the interior quality in any modern ford except the ka is brilliant they use metal instead of metal affect plastics (Vaxhall springs to mind) and they r well made and sturdy. Iam a apprentice in a garage and we have vw's, auldis and the plasticks have a flimsy feel to them, good quality plastick but lacks the quality as in fords and the vw's,audis use really depressing plasticks that are dull and boring plus modern fords are made for driving dynamics and comfort which vw's and audi's dont

the only ford i'd buy now is the mustang gt500 (just to upgrade the suspension and tune the engine to create a 900hp drifting monster, seen it before here in the states, plus it is a beautiful car).There is the F150 to haul car engines and drag & circuit cars around in, The Ford GT is the perfect car any company wishes to have, but Ford is lacking finesse in the DAILY DRIVER SEDAN lineup in the states, this MONDEO would help, alot.

In fact you can compare an audi A4 to a ford mondeo, they are in the same car calss and segment. And a 140hp diesel mondeo costs about the same as the New Audi A4 2.0TDI with 143hp, which is the smallest engine delivered to the A4 range. Who in their right minds would buy a fraud mondeo 1.6 litre petrol engine? To me it's obvious, i'd go for the A4, it will not depreciate as rapidly as the fod and the A4 looks 100 times nicer and have a much higher level of quality

no it's not the same platform, the Mazda6 uses the CD3, the Mondeo uses the EUCD, it shares it with the V70 only. the Mazda6 Platform is shared with the USDM Fusion, Edge, Milan and the Mark Z
