  • exquisita interpretación. es una pena que también tengamos que escuchar campanitas todo el tiempo.

  • The audio problems are either youtube or the people loading the videos. There's always some kind of raspy edge to most music at the high end. Sounds like a cracked speaker. I know it's not mine because they are brand new, and play everything else fine. Some people make recordings off of microphones instead of going direct to the camera or recording device. It's always better direct with no exterior noise.

  • Bravo!!! Brilliant !

  • El sonido es realmente malo, incluso con auriculares, pero la interpretación es exquisita.

  • For serious listening on YouTube, I would recommend a good set of earphones.

  • is it just my speakers or is this sound quality really terrible?

  • wonderful

    merveilleuse interprétation

  • like Wilhelm Kempf played with intensity and refinement..

  • Interesting interpretation. Reminds me of a saying regarding Rostropovitch playing the Bach 'cello suites. They're great, if you like Brahms.

  • Brendel i admit, i don´t know that well. For me, Gulda is the man. Glen Gould was unable to face the world and in as much as he was unable to face the world, Gould was unable to face Bach!

Music by a composer like Bach is not there for deconstruction, analysis and resynthesis for intellectual purposes. Academics may jump on to this, but how little do they know? From a musical standpoint it´s irrelevant and misses out on a basic fundamental of what music is all about.

  • @sertuerner

I am a really big fan of classical music and i like Glenn Goulds version. Also i really dont know what you mean with: "he was unable to face Bach" ?

And from a musical standpoint, of course,... music is not about analysis or something like that...

but that means, that you are not allowed to ?

To analyse a piece can help you to understand it !

  • With all due respect, I find this attitude to bach quite poisonous. The approach of virtually setting a (rather fast) metronome in the background and playing as written espoused by the likes Gulda and Arrau, just kills this music. It's not about deconstruction at all, because there's no object to deconstruct - it's construction we should be talking of. Bach's scores aren't to be literally interpreted, especially this written out improvisation, played on the piano.

  • You really mean Gould was unable to face Bach? Its a joke, right?

  • @sertuerner it sounds very fine what you are saying here, but why don't you say it out right?

  • I prefer this to Glenn Gould but it's still very erratic in speeding up and slowing down inappropriately. I will upload my favorite version on harpsichord.

  • And the fugue?

    thanks for posting!

    :)

  • True to form. I have to say, I prefer this version to Glenn Gould's.

  • Me too. Gould's version is full of his too subjective show.

  • Well, Gould just did not like this piece.

  • I don't like him - he made a mess of every Bach piece I've heard him attempt.

  • agreed.
