Our generation so desperately needs musical heros. Bands like the MC5 are one of a kind. If you were lucky to have seen them live during their prime, consider yourself blessed.

Put them on the stage / radio today and they'd blow people's minds. To call them " ahead of their time " is to understate how powerful these guys were / are. They'd destroy any pop rock crap (Staynned, Nickleback, etc) today.

If I were to hazard a guess as to what led to their demise -it's a combination of " the star that burns twice as bright burns twice as fast ", the death of free-play radio, and end of Vietnam, people needed something that didn't require taste or thought.

I saw the MC5 dozens of time at the Grande Ballroom in Detroit. They were without a doubt the greatest live band their shows were just electric. Too bad they are so underrated by history.
