@CommentaryX I completely agree, all they go on about is trade routes and negotiations that I care ZERO ZERO about, not to mention the 'direction' Lucas gives the actors and turns them into wood planks. They are all decent actors (except Jake Llyod) but you wouldn't know it here. I couldn't be more disconnected from the 'characters' in the prequels, just god awful they where.
They all say the same thing..he doesn't talk to the actors, he cant DIRECT to save his life..the only way it comes to life is thru the editing and unfortunately he didn't even do a good job of that.
I nearly crapped my pants when I found out Natalie Portman was going to be in the new Star Wars prequel. I had a massive crush on her and she was a great acrtress. And then I saw the film. I am still in therapy after all these years...

@Newtamaki HC gets ripped on a lot for his crap acting, but by far the worst offender is NP. SHe is utterly unconvincing and drab. But, considering the amount of talent shoved into these films and the resultant piss-poor acting, I have to blame Lucas. There really is no other explanation. Samuel L, Ewan, Liam, NP, HC, all blow. Christopher Lee does alright, considering, and Ian McDiarmid is pretty good because he is so skilled not even Lucas could drag down his abilities.
I've read that George really isn't an actor's director like Spike Lee or Martin Scorsese. He can envision the entire scene, but it's difficult for him to describe or to have the actors emote it on screen.
Which is probably why his cast have never really been nominated for Oscars except for Alec Guinness or Candy Clark. His films always "look" great, but to some degree since 'Return of the Jedi' they have been lack a sense of rhythm or pace.
