I think it is stupid to pump cardon dioxide underground, we will be living underground if the heat continues, that is the only cool places left on the planet. So we will be polluting a real refuse for humanity before we get there. Cave are naturally cooler and when we need to seek places to live they will be poisonious.
@VendPrekmurec Having a vague idea about something with no scientific way of implementing it does not qualify as a solution. I'm sure there were many cave men who thought " gee wouldn't it be great to have a shiny thing that gave of light so we could see at night without smoking out the cave" That doesn't make them a genius, Edison was the genius because he IMPLEMENTED an idea that many had had before, a solution that he failed at over 1000 times before success. Peace bro.
@VendPrekmurec Oh ok now I understand, our modern word was thought out by one man. This same man also "invented" the internet? Wow, he must have been real smart. How could I now see that before? Thanks for enlightening me. BTW, Tesla wanted to use static electricity to power light bulbs, an entirely different mode of thought to what Edison was doing, it would however be acurate to say he invented florescent bulbs, and that he deserved more credit.
@MaxPFC well you have to be really naive man, if you believe in "official" stories...
Nicola Tesla died alone in hotel room, because CIA has locked him up. (why? Too much project not for public back then...) many of his inventions were hidden by the government (imagine what would happen if the world would have a free energy - no more wars, no more fat rich guys...)
@VendPrekmurec No sir, you are the naive one to believe in conspiracy theories, especially since Tesla died in 1943 and President Truman signed the National Security Act establishing the CIA in 1947. Who's the fool now?
So they store is underground and THEN what? Underground isn't a vacuum. Whatever air is down there is going to come upon. Does that mean an accelerated rate of gases like radon (poisonous!!!) and other unwanted gas is going to arise?
The general idea is to pump the CO2 far deeper then the cave the illustrate in the video. Depths similar to that of shale and oil deposits; at these depths CO2 will liquify or solidify from the pressure. Once in this state the CO2 will remain largely inert, no more dangerous then the oil that is usually there. They already use this CO2 technique to get to oil from beds past its peak.
Radon is usually found around granite beds which is not very porous. Usually porous rock is the preferred candidate for CO2 storage, and if I remember correctly, oil deposits (another possible storage) is not usually found around granite beds either.
yah but once the problem is temporarily solved there will be less incentive to try to come up with sustainable solutions, it will also encourage people to continue to live there unsustainable live styles rather then seeing the problem in themselves and changing
well i think there should be a compromise. scientists are working so hard to save humanity and we cant just fuck it all up. i think this is where the 'democracy' fails. people think for themselves and about THEIR future...not the future of the PEOPLE
Climate change happens regardless of CO2 levels. Or did you think the ice age was about a mammoth, a sabre tooth tiger, and a sloth?

why dont we plant many many more trees, problem solved and it would be more calming

Why not concentrate on planting more trees and saving those we have than trying to build artificial ones?

Sickos, why can't we just have some intelligence here...

@MaxPFC Edison was inspired by Nicola Tesla.
All ideas - and modern "inventions"; like mobile phones, internet came from this scientist.

'...can be put away safely and permanently for thousands and thousands of years'.
Yeah, because that works. Find a permanent and sustainable solution, don't just lock it up for a couple of millenia.

It's better than nothing, meanwhile they can look for other solutions, imo.
