the ballet dancer on here at 4 minutes and 50 seconds in in Bruno Tonioli (or whatever) from TV's Strictly Come Dancing! Not a lot of people know that!
I know you posted this a month ago QWEROTI, so I hope you're still checking for a reply! The last song is called "Embers" Never released in record/disc form, but it was recorded and mastered ready for release. Polydor just bottled it I guess. Ah well here it is. 'Tis quaint innit? But I love the sentiment. Who takes notice of the romantic drunk? Hope this helps.
FrancoDamn, you could not have said it better! If you want to have a better picture of 80s underground music, google the torrent compilations called Rare Hits of the 80's which also includes lots of Fiat Lux songs. (and just guess who was behind putting these mixes together! lol)
anyone loving the 80s should listen to these guys not just all the usual 80s bands. why doesnt someone at one of the major record labels release a descent compalation of rare and forgotten 80s bands like fiat lux and blue zoo.
deancooky, Fiat Lux recording label did not know how to promote them back then. Now you expect them to release their stuff in 2008? Nowadays all labels care about is money and they won't make money releasing Fiat Lux. I am so happy that I ripped their stuff back in late 80s, though had no clue it would be so rare someday!
i agree but if they grew some balls then with the current trend for everything looking and sounding 80s they might be surprised.I bet if they did their research ie look at youtube get mags like Q and Sounds etc to do a poll ibet theres millions to be made.
What a fine Idea. Yeah, the Eighties had some great tunes and atmospheres...I still remember where I was etc. when I heard The Lotus Eaters "First Picture of You" and The Blue Nile's "Walk Across The Rooftops" album! Wouldn't it be great to have this stuff on CD?
@deancooky Totally agree and blue zoo weren't even that obscure, they had a top ten hit with 'Cry Boy Cry'! But the companies are fickle, moneygrabbing bastards. The main reason many of these bands never made the really big time like AFOS and DD.
@22ndWave .My gut feelings of 2 years ago are correct, take alook as to how many 80,s bands are makeing a return, granted some of them are a bit ropey but they are selling.SO again if the powers that be took agamble and released a c.d full of forgotten80,s artist,s and thier music i,m sure it would sell.Come on everyone lets start something, anyone know how to start a petitoin and get this on the go.
@deancook07 I'd sign that! The 80s was just chock-full of great bands. even ones that just put out one local single and disappeared forever. What Itunes needs to do is buckle down and aim to get ALL music on the site. I mean, there's not even any Icehouse on there and they were like HUGE. Won a bestseller award and all. I'm hoping it'll happen before 2020.

Sadly, 1980s were MAdonna, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Michael Jackson, MTV, MTV, MTV, MTV, commercial artist.
