Pearl Harbour was certainly not staged, but it was also not the 'suprise' that some people make it out to be. It was the culmination of a decades long Japanese struggle for expansion under a harsh American boycott and trade blockade, as well as conflicting American, British, Dutch and Japanese Imperialistic interests in the South East Pacific. Everyone saw it coming.

That's the problem. This is a hugely significant historical event, but there's very little actual, legitimate film of it. So most of what you see is a re-creation, like this.

However comparing our troops in the middle east with the Japanese at Pearl, or the governments is simply wrong. Study the motivations of the Japanese at the time. Like now, they were overcrowded, and needed new territory. They invaded China for that purpose. They bombed us to prevent our intervention.

Agreed. A war on two fronts is what cost Germany the way it did. They had the occupations in the west and then they tried to go and occupy Russia. They overestimated themselves and spread themselves too thin, making themselves more vulnerable. I don't think the US would've wanted to make the same mistake.
