@Who2Are1You Because he likes that, just like some drummer only have 2 toms, or one left of their hats, thats one of the advantages of drumming. You can choose what you want to hit, where you want to hit it, unlike other musical instruments that are bound to a fretboard or a keyboard etc.
Man's so fat the whole worlds sitting in his grooves
You need to get some of what he's havin' 'cause you ain't got nothin to give and a WHOLE LOT to learn from the REAL Man you see sitting there. That's right you little tick. Bow down, for, BEHOLD, the one you see before you IS
lmao dipshit, this man has more groove and soul in a skin cell then you'd ever hope to have. This man is full of soul, he is not at all fat, and you are quite a sad sack of shit for those speech bubbles
hey just read those comments, great drummer, i hope soon someone will take fat off, cuddly, teady bear heady is more aprox, go on be a nice sport and take the fat off, love to brother purdie.
That solo isn't just drum music, it's music on the drums. The way he just eases into the melodic side of his soloing is so sweet and natural. His snare work and ghosting is so terrific and unique - I just never get tired listening to Purdie play.
holy shit this man makes the drum speaks.....!some people got the technique -skills and play play play....they cant say nothing. some other got a gift...!
@Kingofstyle1990 Buddy Miles was fat and I think he had one of the most "musical" drumming styles of all time. Listen to Hendrix "Band of Gypsies" and "Electric Flag". His playing was phenomenal.
Mr, Purdie is simply in a class by himself. I've seen and heard lots of people immitate him, but never seen anyone really succeed, his time, his groove, his pocket are just locked up tight like no one else.
he does so many things so well, but aside from his mile deep pocket and groove, he ghosts better than just about anyone I've ever seen. His toms aren't tuned opposite, they are just reversed, plenty of drummers do that.
I also like how he uses a reverse grip when he's doing alot of snare work and ghosting. I'm not a drummer, but I don't see too many others doing that. I once saw Purdie's 'splanation as to why he does that in his instructional video, but I forgot what it was. Anyone know? Does it just make for a fatter sound?
There was something else to it too. I vaguely remember him saying something about how it was correct to reverse your snare stick when using matched grip. It was something other than the sound...
Yeah...I'll bet that in order to ghost like he does, you need a pretty heavy tip that doesn't rebound very high. So, the other end of the stick would do the trick. Keith Carlock reminds me of Purdie nowadays, in that he really prefers to develop a groove. As opposed to Tony Royston how relies on fireworks mostly. Ever noticed how angled Carlock's snare is? Maybe that's for control his ghost notes as well?
