You can even make a dead dog much more interesting! I wish I could have the pleasure to train under you! Oh well, I guess studying all your Youtube videos will have to do for now!
@xWolfHauntx I really learn so much by studying the living and those that pass on. The deceased can teach us lessons we can't learn from the living. Thanks for watching
I watched this and at first felt sad for the loss of life but then learned a lot from this thank you very much doctor. I have a male dog so it was an eye opener. LoL
@peachy6969 Great comment. Both are really important! Its two jobs is to create two compartments and then to create negative pressure as you suggested.
It's quite interesting how they had a choice in breed (I'm sure) and low and behold it was an APBT (American Pit Bull Terrier). Just horrid how they are the first breed to be "euthanized". Lord forbid it would be a golden retriever. I love all dogs and breed but it's always sad to see that the APBT IS THE MOST ABUSED, MISUNDERSTOOD and KILLED breed of dog. Just my 2 cents :)
@pwccayo Dogs are domesticated from wolves. Some were bred to fight and guard. Some are fearful and anxiety ridden. Each needs to be judged on their own. This dog wan't euthanized because it was a APBT, just because the owners could not trust it any longer. Thanks for the comments
Dr.Greg was that a American Pit Bull Terrier and may I ask how it past away just wondering as you can see by my user name I love the breed one of my favorite but how can anyone like my that has about 30 dog breed books choose just one haha.
@AmericanPitbulls1 Unfortunately she was dangerously aggressive and had to be put to sleep. That can happen with this breed and others that were bred to fight and protect.
@AmericanPitbulls1 Oh quick question do you believe in putting a aggressive dog to sleep oh and if you did the euthanasia I hope it was a respected death by the way you do not have to answer if you dont want but thanks
Thank you so much for all your videos. I am a vet assistant student and I am enjoying watching these videos and hearing your prospective. I have yet to see some of these procedures and cases in person and I am grateful for the information provided. Please continue to make more wonderful videos!
@fantasticyams Thanks, Love to share things that I wish I could have seen before or during vet school. Good for any training to be supplemented with real life stuff
Wow.. i think i have watched this over and over again about 13 times and it hasnt got boring.. This is to amazing! I think the mesentery i also amazing and if this doesnt sound odd.. quite beautiful..
I'm 15 and i really want to be a vet when im older and i think your videos are a great great help to me! i help at a vets after school and even though that helps me so much i think these videos are the icing on the cake for me :)
@immyzflipcube Thanks, I think the body is a beautifully engineered work of art also. Keep studying and learning. There is so much to learn and appreciate
omg!!! i want2 be a vet when i get older well im a jr in highschool omg good thing iwas laying down when you 1st showed the dog lol thank you so much 4 posting this vid!(: any tips?
@greenflagz93 Spend a few hours shadowing a vet or a technician if you can. Volunteer at a local shelter or vet hospital to observe animal behavior and their reactions to what we do. You need to have responsibility of the animals you want to care for in the future. Do you have animals? Every aspiring vet needs to know how to care for them physically and emotionally. Glad you were laying down!
@DrGregDVM yeah im going to start volunteering at my local shelter(: and yes i do i have a 10 yr old rotweiler((: can i ask you a vet question about my dog?
@greenflagz93 ok well my dog has this like dent i guess you can say on the right top part of his head. it looks like someone hit with a bat or something....but i know they havent because he is always with me. my dogs vet said that she thinks its a tumor in his ear thats causing his head to sink in. I guess my question is do you think that caused him to go blind? and do you think it couldve came from him laying down in his urine? he would sometimes lay in his pee if iwasnt there to clean it
@cc91801 I hate to see dogs not make it, but necropsies remind us of the beautiful and intricate machinery we have to take care of...our bodies. The dog was a Pit X

I thought that the main job of the diaphragm was creating negative pressure for breathing, not to separate the thorax from the abdomen?
