leds are alright if you dont mind very long grow, and flowering times, along with low yealds, and small buds put all this in account that they are very over priced, and it makes much more sense to go with hids, or cfl,s. this is just my view, i bought a 90w. ufo led and was not at all pleased, and will never get suck in something new again. i,ll stick to cfl,s...

@steveeb1269 Are you really trying to say that growing with LED's is worse than growing with CFL's? If, IF you actually used LED's to complete a grow and you got less of a YIELD than with a CFL grow I guarantee you bought a cheap ass LED UFO. I only use 90 watt Tri-Band UFO LED's, they speed up my Veg time by a minimum of 2 weeks. They make my ladies bushier and help develop great internode spacing. I have also never had a "low yield"  producing with LED's....just low electric bills.

@devonglide I veg under one set of LED's and Flower under another set of LED's.  The only time they are not under a LED source is during their seedling stage. I use three 36'' Florescent tubes during the seedling phase

@Kouveious will cost more to replace the power--from HPS to LED, but it seems to do well from what ive seen, and obviously safer/cooler, and way less power draw, so they pay for themselves in time-- 50,000 hours out of led's, hundreds of hours off HPS.. im thinking a combo of both would be best--LEDs for Veg, then add HPS for flower? id like to try it.. let me kno if u do try it out--im building a website around this stuff soon. thanks bro

Two good things for a video:

1. Turn off extractor fans.

2. Film with LED on then with normal light on, because thanks to the human optical system, we don't like uber-reds or purples, plants reflect green so we are most comfortable looking at mostly green, so turn on a torch and let us bathe in the plants!

Also, fuck complainers, sure LEDS aren't massively popular, but plants grow regardless of who cares, as long as they bathe in photosynthetically active light!

I likes.. the wattage and the temperatures are enough said.. might take longer, but get ur clones ready in intervals its just too expensive to supply power to and cool those bigass HID. Plus these really aren't too expensive considering their life (8-10 years)

and how much u save in energy and cooling.. Im gonna go to LED (Old Timer Techniques aside.. I will learn to boss these LED)... Fuck the UFOS though Im going for big panels...

@rockondon so all you have to dis prove led is hearsay? Ill try to explain a little bit better. See humans have raited the lumen scale for humans and what appears bright to us. This barely include the reds and blues that plants use during their photosynthesis. So if you were to use a green led light to grow your upland it will not grow at all.

Bro...what was your yield??? I am going into my second batch of L.E.D. with 125w of CFL. I use 3 UFO one red one blue and one full spectrum with a grow 135 CFL. I take out the blue UFO and add another CFL 125w during flowing. My first batch I cured at 5oz. L.E.D's are awesome, they give plants great growth but I feel you need to add some CFL's during flowering to kick in that extra thickness in the buds.

You guys griping about LED grow lights are just bitter. Be more tolerant and open minded. LEDs are good for 24hr cycle b/c they provide the right spectrum and they are easier on the elec bill as well as the temps. For 12/12 it is still better to use hps. You can have the best of both worlds if you stop hating and just take a look at the available technology and published results.

@darthpaul123 They are more efficient (yield/watt, yield/heat, yield/power bill cost). But they deliver more slowly (yield/time). It's a matter of personal requirements. Someone who must grow in a stealth environment might not mind waiting longer for a single yield.

i dont think its that we dont wanna give it a try cuz im a grower i use cfls for veg i think its close to 500 watt output i forgt and then a 400 watt hps and i dont change becasue theres no proof its any better than cfls it just puts off less heat. cfls are proven to increase resin production by 50%, and hps are the same way about bud density. so its not that im hatin its just i got what works and i dont need something better unless it is better and its proven

what is usually a common concern for most people is the lumen output of theses things. i cant remeber but i think standard spectrum is only 5000 and advanced is like 4400. but what alot of people dont know is lumens are a mesurement of how humans precive brightness. high in greens and yellows low in blue and reds. do some research look up lemens and lux and then look up a par graph. what i really hate is how all you old growers see a new idea and cast it away as blasphemy and dont wana admit

for 85bucks for a 150watt hps and free shipping and 12-15 bucks a month to run.

the 1400 dollar led lights might work but i read they lose there colors in 6yrs or less

so basically there useless at around 5-6 years.the lights slowely burn out.hps growers replace bulbs every 6month or so.

Fast heavy growth, no heat, no yearly bulb replacement (this one can go 7 - 10 years!), no reflectors to buy, no transformer noise, less watering and best of all....the electric meter doesn't spin like a hard drive! This old grower is SOLD!!

delta first off u prolly grow shitty mids and smoke them with ur cat cuz no one wants to smoke them, and second LED's are very efficient for what they do, not everyone has whole rooms or warehouses to grow in, if electricity/ power bill is an issue or heat is an issue because of a small space, the LED's are very efficient and do the job quite well, of course under ideal conditions hps is preferable but some people are not as lucky as u i guess.
