Absolutely, just like Sully in the airliner, these have an even better glide ratio, depending on the plane, will glide 7-10 feet forward for every foot down. With proper planning and training most small aircraft land without incident, but this is quite rare to have an engine out. See youtube for "deadstick" or "engine out". There's even some Kitfox videos where the engine is shutdown intentionally...
Yea well we try :) Keep subsribing, more video to come! Got some neat stuff in the chute. Yes she now loves going places from here, so much faster - go folding wings! CRAZEDpilot . com
@pdutube I recommend great deal of care and practice first - it takes a different set of skills. 50 hours in your particular plane minimum if you ask me with full focus on short field methods. I don't take it lightly, exercise caution and then have fun!
Figuring a 10% increase in runway length (effectively) for every 1% of grade, gives you a 1500' runway. So 600' at your field elevation is way longer then you need! Once you build up some time I'd bet you'll only actually use 150' or so.
does the fule moving around in the front have and efects on the plane?

I know nothing about piloting small aircraft; can you land these types of planes if the engine goes out?

Well the wife approves so that makes the labor and financial investment all worth it. Nice job thanks for sharing the flights with us.

Try landing MIle Hi, Idaho... 5800ft msl and a 20% slope and only 500ft...

@ILuv2fly Shouldn't be a problem in a kitfox for someone with practice. the Density Altitude would be the biggest issue, not the strip length itself.

This is encouraging for me as I'm thinking about a little strip on my land. Great job!
