The US is not a democracy, it's a republic. The issue often mentioned but rarely discussed is whether or not health care is a right or a responsibility. I believe it's a responsibility, NOT a right. NOBODY has the right to demand that another person take care of them, especially not in the manner of their own choosing. Our personal health is not entirely pot luck, we're all responsible to some degree, and I don't think it's fair to ask others to pay for their choices.

The US is not a democracy, it's a republic. The issue often mentioned but rarely discussed is whether or not health care is a right or a responsibility. I believe it's a responsibility, NOT a right. NOBODY has the right to demand that another person take care of them, especially not in the manner of their own choosing. Our personal health is not entirely pot luck, we're all responsible to some degree, and I don't think it's fair to ask others to pay for their choices.

I am one of those millions who lost their job & even though I've been searching & applying for jobs (that I am qualified for), I cannot find work. I lost my healthcare & then got sick & almost died - I paid for ALL my bills. It's people like me that need the healthcare - we fall in the gap, but illegals get it FREE.

Actually he's saying currently in America healthcare is already rationed by the invisible hand of the market and should instead be supplied in equal demand so everyone can get taken care of, and the only way to do that is for it to be paid for by rich people even though it will be accessible to the poor. Our nation spends more money on health care than any other developed nation, for worse outcomes and less people covered. It is not just the destitute that need help--it is also the middle class. Do you all really want to be a country where people just die on the streets? Do you consider England a communist country? All senior citizens get medicare benefits--would you prefer we just shoot people when they reach the age of 65? All this expressed violence and hate is really sad to me.

I honestly don't understand how some people can still be so unaware. 50,000 surgeries are canceled each year in Britain because the patients become too sick for surgery while waiting in line. Single payer or nationalized health care means waiting for months to see the first doctor and then add another year to see the specialist and add another 3 or 4 years for the operation or treatment. IF your condition is deemed necessary to be treated by the rationing board, death panels, and IF you will not be a useless eater after the treatment and IF you are a good party member then you will be taken care of. ALL others will be given two aspirin and call back in a week

Only 8-13% of docs participate. Why? Because Medicaid pays only $0.60 out of every dollar I charge them. ObamaCare will force patients into Medicaid. We will have insurance, but no one will have doctors.

The silver lining in all of this lies in hoping that the time's coming for ALL of them, and that I am privileged to live to see it. What happened to all the kvetching about an "imperial presidency" that we hear when Republicans are in office? The lamestream media should be hauled into the same dock, once we the people are done with the fiends in politics, academia, and the administrative state. There wouldn't be enough rope or enough lampposts.

So let's review: if an employer, even a small one, offers no health benefits, or a plan that the spiteful Marxists deem too stingy, they should be punished and fined. Yet on the other hand, if you have a "Cadillac plan" that the bloodthirsty Gracchites think is TOO generous and beneficent, you should be taxed into financial ruin so they can subsidize their lazy, indolent, violent, indoctrinated, grasping pet constituencies. No policy genuinely concerned with "health care" would involve 1 new leech at the IRS, let alone 16,000. No bill concerned with health care would fine Americans, tax needed medical devices or tax health benefit plans THEY don't think you should have. No one would dare suggest "leaders" should nullify consumer choice.

Wilson, & FDR began the work of abrogating the Constitution, LBJ sped it along and now OogaBooga is completing the task. Arguing that people who "take Social Security and Medicare but want limited govt" are hypocrites is laughable. We don't get a CHOICE on enrolling in Socialist Security or funding Mediscam with our taxes. Govt entities refuse claims all the time, thus violating the "right" to health care. If health care is a right, not a product, how can the "commerce clause" cover a right?

now that the laws are passed I'm noticing editorials and comments like above saying how gov't cannot afford to be "charitable" or americans will have to accept less, etc. but their system is supposedly going to be "politically accountable". Really? The last one wasn't and it was one of the reasons we had a health care crisis to begin with.

Healthcare is not a right, it is a benefit of hard work and diligence. Nowhere in any founding document of this country is healthcare guaranteed. Emergency medical care in the event of an accident is a service we enjoy through the payment of taxes. Nothing more.

Health care rationing is on the way - you'll be denied proper medical care, not because you can't afford it, but because the govt deems you unimportant and not worthy of the cost. Right now you cannot be denied needed medical care, regardless of whether you can afford it or not - it's the law, but that day is going to end very soon - Wake up.

Is it not yet obvious that we are on private industry rationed health care? That the death panels are real and they are headed by the executives of insurance companies that promote a system by which they refuse claims, out of hand, on financial principle? Capitalism works well as a basis for an economic system. However, it makes for a pitiful baseline health care system. The profits simply are not high enough for corporate investors without taking advantage of the people.
