From Jon's comeback show in Grover Beach in June 2009, to this event, his voice has improved much. I would love to see Yes again, but only will if Jon is singing.
As a long-time (old-time) Yesman from the '70s ("Relayer" tour) - having seen Yes throughout the West US and over in Japan - Jon's voice sounds great. The best I think...ever.
Well there are certainty enough former Yes members for Jon to form his own version of Yes! Trevor Horn, Rick Wakeman, Patrick Moraz, Bill Bruford, Igor Khoroshev, etc! His voice is still great but I dont much care for the acoustic style of the Yes tuners. If I was Jon, I would hit on Horn, Wakeman, or others as well as find a new bass player and tour as Yes II, or symphonic Yes or something. Benoît David sounds fine as their singer, but Jon will continue on preferably with a band!
Jon has a presence, and aura if you will that fills the stage and bleeds off into the audience. I don't normally believe in such things, but I've experience it with YES time and time again. I can't explain it any other way. No other band has this strange quality except YES with Jon Anderson. It's magic. It truly is. I know, I know. But I'll bet many of you have experienced the same thing. It's a very unique feeling.
Jon is wonderful: an international treasure and I'm DELIGHTED his health and voice seem to be back. I really, really hope he can rejoin Yes one day, even if only for a farewell album and tour. All respect to Benoit David - but Benoit is merely a good placeholder for Jon, vocally, but NOT songwriting-wise!! Jon's music is PEERLESS and Yes are only a good covers band without him. I myself sound a bit like Jon, vocally. But I'm not fit to carry his bags...
Sounding better and better with each show. Sharp and clear. Hope Jon can play with Yes again...maybe the band can re-claim their credibility with Jon, otherwise they may leave the stage as a charactature of itself....a cover band of itself. Bring the magic back! Bring back Jon!!
I'll bet that Chris Squire prefers that kid from Quebec, no matter how well Jon becomes. Anderson is all about music; Squire needs to pay the rent, as it were...
