The New Ford Escapes already have a TSB out on the transmissions. Specifically, for a "Hoot" sound. I would never buy a new Ford. I'd get a used one, because it's easier to hammer the price down than on a Japanese car.
Ford Technology? What a joke. There's already been a TSB on the capless fuel filler system. In a few years I'll bet it'll need repairs. And a cap not only keeps fuel in, but it keeps stuff out as well.
There's no way Ford will get the filler door right to keep water & debris out of the filler hole. And I bet the filler door seal will need a repair in a few years.
Hondas & BMWs (& perhaps other makes) have a neato fuel cap cradle built into the fuel door - unscrew the cap then place it in the cradle - very handy. No tether needed.
Ford really dropped the ball with those 1/4-turn caps - they are the worst - you're never confident that the cap has been installed correctly. And as a matter of fact, MANY people brought their Ford in for warranty service because of the fuel-cap-warning-light. There's no way Ford will get the capless system right. The Honda Element cap installs normally - screw it in until it cicks - simple. What's so hard about that. The 1/4-turn cap is a joke.
Guess what Ford......you still touch the gas pump hose to fill your gas tank and thats what makes your hands smell like gas. Nice try on this commercial! Maybe if you said "Now you won't forget to put your gas cap back on"
Hey everyone, I got bad news. I emailed a guy from tummy touch records and he told me that "that bit of music is something we did especially for the Ford tv spot and is only 15 seconds long !" So, :(....
Maybe you could start a grassroots movement. A few years ago VW had an ad with a cool song and when I emailed them asking about it and where to buy it wasn't available. Then a few months later they mailed me a CD single with the song on it. I never did buy a VW though...
I agree the culprit for getting gas on your hands is definitely the cap because when the gas drips from the pump onto the gas cap and you screw the cap closed after pumping, the transfer of gasoline to the hands takes place. I'm with Paul on this one. Plus he's hot.
Who really gets that much gas on ur hands taking off a cap? Christ people have become useless!

I haven't seen one up close...but this sure sounds like a good way for dirt to get into your gas tank.

Paul, I never get gas on my hands. maybe, you're just a nub.

You most often get gas on your hands from the gas pump and not the gas cap.
