"The #1 Comedy film of all time!" Take that Malcolm Muggeridge and Mervyn Stockwood. I wish they were still alive to be reminded of this on every 100 greatest comedy shows.
although I love Monty Python I did laught at lots of other shows in the 1970's, so I'm getting a bit fed up by this endless glorifying of the old boys club...every era has its new (although few jokes are ever "new) style in comedy, music , arts etc..but we all become old conservative farts(e.g. john Cleese) and mony python is no exception.;and what's this Terry Jones says about Life of Brian not questioning "belief" itself ?? Jeeesus!! ..as one might say ...
Monty Python remains one of the greatest comedy series ever done on English-speaking Television. It was a show that disassembled comedy and comedic conventions and I have said all these years is a satire of comedy.
Good film but terrible start on the narration - stuff that takes the piss out of the 1970's ( haircuts, clothes etc) is so 'naff' and unfunny. Every period thinks its cool, and then looks a bit daft to people of future generations, including the one we are in now. Also Python started in late 1969, not 68 as it said. enjoyed it apart from that!
@caliaa LOB is not a great comedy but it is a good one. Part of what the film did so well is satirize revolutionary groups which people forget about now. The controversy ultimately was meaningless because the film had nothing to do with Christ but with the institutional basis of religion.

LOB is the #1 comedy of ALL time? Really? Is that just in Britain?
SubmarinerAndroid 2 years ago
I think in America, the Holy Grail is more popular, but LOB is still funnier and better overall.
