CPU-Z is a FREE program. GET IT !!! it tells you stuff about your computer... if you do the same as this guy in this video.... and have never run cpu-z .....
why is it that all these video's are just ...'' this is how you put it in.....the end...''
none of them deal with the months of research to discover the truth about compatibility ..... what tools are their... there... to help prove beyond an unreasonable doubt that you have the right stuff .... oh oh eee ohhhh....
Question: In this video he put the memory module in the opposite way of the other one. Does that matter? Or can i make it face the other way and still install it correctly? And, the lock tabs for the extra module slots on my computer are different colors than the ones that already have modules in them. Does that mean anything? Sorry if this makes me sound like an idiot I would just really like to know before i try this and mess something up.
@rscaitlo09 The RAM has an offset notch in it. It'll only go in 1 way so put it which ever way it fits... The tabs are different colors most likely because your motherboard supports or requires dual channel memory. So the slots of the same color should be filled with identical RAM cards.
My computer is a model sr1113nx. Ive unscrewed the back, And am trying to pull it off, But it just wont budg. Ive been trying at it for a while.. Any suggestions please?

@aspenwillows Follow the Video dude, When your looking inside your computer and see them unclip out the half of 1GB and put in the 4GB very simple. If you need further help I could try and make a Video OR You make a Video and send it to me so I can give you further Instructions.
No dude. That totally voids your warranty. Look at 1 1/2 - 2 inches above the bottom case screw on the side panel he is taking off. That is the warranty sticker which has been voided.
Hey, thanks for being here. Have old HP Pavilion 500 desktop need to upgrade for a desperate college student. Please tell me options for upgrading. 512MB current. Student needs to be able to work online for classes, video, etc. Thanks a million
I got new memory and the reason im watching this is because he still keeps on reboothing when im like playing games ore what ever! and when i remove the new memory and i play my games it just runs fine.... so could you help me?
@jessenl93 - If this is Edge Tech RAM, you can get assistance at 1.800.25936565. If the RAM is from a different manufacturer, I would suggest contacting them for a replacement.
I have an HP with 512mb of Ram with only two slot both being used. Now I would now want to upgrade to 1GB, can I install a 512mb and keep the 256mb memory as well?
@jessenl93 try increasing the voltage of the ram; for ddr3 try 1.65, for ddr2 try 1.9(but don't go any higher). some memory chips may require very high voltages(2v+!) so look at your mem stick, it should have a sticker that tells you its proper timings and voltages. if you are using a core i3/i5/i7 proccesser, never set your ram voltages higher then 1.65v.
i have a dell optiplex gx260 and i replaced the 256mb ram with a new 1gb ram and i saw that it has to ddr slots, can i have both the 1gb and the 256mb at the same time even though there different amount
No, it will not. The RAM in the system only retains information while the system is powered on. Once the machine is rebooted or powered down, the RAM loses all the information stored on it.
@edgetechcorp True, RAM Really, just mainly IS Speed so technically no data should be harmed if the person loses data you may have hit/messed with something else in the computer at the same time.
ammm guys i have an alienware recetnly i unplugged it for a clean up it was in a mess so i removed my ram from it which i installed manually but now when i try to put it back in my comp wont boot up pls note i had 2gb ram from the factory installed and i added 2gb it used to run perfect with 4 gigs of ram but now it wont boot up any ideas wats the problem???
Smithipods yes it does. for example if you run 512mb you cant play most games, run advanced effects on ubuntu, use the windows aero theme and more. if you put another ram card in you'll be able to play most games and run advanced desktop effects
you go to your controll panel, switch to classical mode in the leftside task bar, double click system, and then it should say on the window that pops up.
Well, first of all your motherboard has to be compadible with your RAM, say if your getting DDR3 ram, your motherboard must be compadible with that, but of course there is a limit, you can only fit so many RAM's in your computer, and then it depends on how much memory they got.

Turn on your pc first before you put back the side cover..if the memory doesn't work or if your pc keeps on beeping you can easily access the memory again..:-)
You dont really need to unplug your computer if you installing anything.. all you have to do is go on the back of your PC and if your power supply has a little switch on the back you can just flip that and all power to your computer is off.

so you wont burn the ram stick out static will cause strong shock to the ram and the computer will not reconize it

@deadlyhydra so that any static electricity that is built up on you will jump from you to the metal object & it will then be earthed
