  • DDR DDR2 DDR3 PC3200 1.5v 200 pin 1024mb there are alot of details MIA

  • test

  • CPU-Z is a FREE program. GET IT !!! it tells you stuff about your computer... if you do the same as this guy in this video.... and have never run cpu-z .....

    then your an idiot...

  • why is it that all these video's are just ...'' this is how you put it in.....the end...''

none of them deal with the months of research to discover the truth about compatibility ..... what tools are their... there... to help prove beyond an unreasonable doubt that you have the right stuff .... oh oh eee ohhhh....

  • So why did you need those tools again?

  • I have a problem. I bought new RAM but it does not fit in the slot because a little plastic pin is not allowing it.

  • does the both ram have to be the same brand?

  • Question: In this video he put the memory module in the opposite way of the other one. Does that matter? Or can i make it face the other way and still install it correctly? And, the lock tabs for the extra module slots on my computer are different colors than the ones that already have modules in them. Does that mean anything? Sorry if this makes me sound like an idiot I would just really like to know before i try this and mess something up.

  • @rscaitlo09 The RAM has an offset notch in it. It'll only go in 1 way so put it which ever way it fits... The tabs are different colors most likely because your motherboard supports or requires dual channel memory. So the slots of the same color should be filled with identical RAM cards.

  • Wow I thought it was difficult but it's really simple hahaa

  • I always thought it would be extremely difficult to do stuff like this when I was younger, now I have a IT A Level and I now laugh :)

  • this may sound stupid but im having a hard time opening the pc case of my acer aspire SA90 desktop , ive tried alot of things but it wont open :(

  • @bssmHD i thought it is easy...

  • I did this and my computers fan went really fast and my computer beeped a bunch and it gave off a bad smell what do i do

  • i like how he doesnt even use the tools but says you need them lol

  • wow this is the best RAM installation vid ever its short, simple and sweet I was about to ugrade my RAM but i need to check my DDR first -_-

  • great tut. thanks

  • you didnt even use the tools

  • @TehCacti LMBO. I guess I wont ether.

  • RAM make computers run faster?

  • Thank so much Drew i was getting ready to demolish my side pannel. :D

  • I HAVE RAM OF 4 GB,BUT IT IS NOT ENOUGH!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @MrLeshinar WHAT?! depending on your motherboard, you cant add more ( some have only 2 slots and 2gb max for each slot)

  • @navalatanjjnn never heard of triple channel for DDR3 memory sticks?

  • Comment removed

  • that desktop doesnt have a pci-e 16x slot ._.

  • My computer is a model sr1113nx. Ive unscrewed the back, And am trying to pull it off, But it just wont budg. Ive been trying at it for a while.. Any suggestions please?

  • thanks for that commentary, i was actually gonna ask if upgrading memory voided warranty

  • I have an Acer AST180. There are 4 slots for memory. Presently two of these slots have half a GB each, the other two are empty. I have purchased 4 - 1GB memory. this is the max the manufacturers recommended. How do I remove the two half GB and install the 4GB ?

  • @aspenwillows Follow the Video dude, When your looking inside your computer and see them unclip out the half of 1GB and put in the 4GB very simple. If you need further help I could try and make a Video OR You make a Video and send it to me so I can give you further Instructions.

  • @tttwas you have to go to the manufacture's website and look up your model and see how much ram you can put in it

  • No dude. That totally voids your warranty. Look at 1 1/2 - 2 inches above the bottom case screw on the side panel he is taking off. That is the warranty sticker which has been voided.

  • Hey, thanks for being here. Have old HP Pavilion 500 desktop need to upgrade for a desperate college student. Please tell me options for upgrading. 512MB current. Student needs to be able to work online for classes, video, etc. Thanks a million

  • @milkduds112 you have to se how much ram you can upgrade by going to the website and look up your model, I sugest you put 1 GB

  • I got new memory and the reason im watching this is because he still keeps on reboothing when im like playing games ore what ever! and when i remove the new memory and i play my games it just runs fine.... so could you help me?

  • @jessenl93 - If this is Edge Tech RAM, you can get assistance at 1.800.25936565. If the RAM is from a different manufacturer, I would suggest contacting them for a replacement.

  • @edgetechcorp Ok thnx allot! :D

  • @edgetechcorp Hi when inserting the new memory do you have to remove the old one or just add the new memory with it??. Great vid!

  • @edgetechcorp

I have an HP with 512mb of Ram with only two slot both being used. Now I would now want to upgrade to 1GB, can I install a 512mb and keep the 256mb memory as well?

  • @jessenl93 try increasing the voltage of the ram; for ddr3 try 1.65, for ddr2 try 1.9(but don't go any higher). some memory chips may require very high voltages(2v+!) so look at your mem stick, it should have a sticker that tells you its proper timings and voltages. if you are using a core i3/i5/i7 proccesser, never set your ram voltages higher then 1.65v.

  • i have a dell optiplex gx260 and i replaced the 256mb ram with a new 1gb ram and i saw that it has to ddr slots, can i have both the 1gb and the 256mb at the same time even though there different amount

  • @escotownkrazy - Yes, your system does not require pairing. Your system should run just fine with irregular modules installed.

  • well I have dell windows xp desktop and the memory wont go in all the way

  • Here is another motherboard. ptgd vx what is the manuf. website for it. please help.

  • do you have to keep the original one can you replace it with another one

  • Thank you! =]

  • in this video you dont need a screwdriver:D

why do you show the screwdriver at the beginning of video??:D

  • @16ats Some cases you do need a Screwdriver, Like if the thumbscrews don't come off with your fingers.

  • why do you to touch a metal things

  • so you wont burn the ram stick out static will cause strong shock to the ram and the computer will not reconize it

  • @jon204 oh ok thx

  • @deadlyhydra so that any static electricity that is built up on you will jump from you to the metal object & it will then be earthed

  • so you leave the old memory in there?

wouldnt it just be better to buy 4 new faster ones in place of them?

  • @AaronRodriguezTV The memory on it could already be fast, just the one slot was empty.

  • yes but if u already hav a 2 gig the best is just to buy another 2 gig.u dont need that much memory and that would be expensive

  • please answer

i have a 2gb of ram and im thinking of adding another 2gb.

does this affect more data on my computer, if i do so would i need to reinstall my harddrive when i do this procedure.

  • @wayneking69er no, when u put it in your system automaticly recognises it and install it, nothing els by you needs to be done

  • No, it will not. The RAM in the system only retains information while the system is powered on. Once the machine is rebooted or powered down, the RAM loses all the information stored on it.

  • @edgetechcorp True, RAM Really, just mainly IS Speed so technically no data should be harmed if the person loses data you may have hit/messed with something else in the computer at the same time.

  • damn it is easy but if any one know whats the difference with low density and high denisty??

  • ammm guys i have an alienware recetnly i unplugged it for a clean up it was in a mess so i removed my ram from it which i installed manually but now when i try to put it back in my comp wont boot up pls note i had 2gb ram from the factory installed and i added 2gb it used to run perfect with 4 gigs of ram but now it wont boot up any ideas wats the problem???

  • Smithipods yes it does. for example if you run 512mb you cant play most games, run advanced effects on ubuntu, use the windows aero theme and more. if you put another ram card in you'll be able to play most games and run advanced desktop effects

  • Thanx!!! :)

  • Hey does it makes you're pc faster buy puting extra memory??

  • it can make your pc run faster! that is why if you dont have enough games and programs will run slow or not run at all

  • How can you tell how much memory your computer can have?

  • you go to your controll panel, switch to classical mode in the leftside task bar, double click system, and then it should say on the window that pops up.

  • Thanks. And tell me, There's a limit on how much RAM I put my PC or I can put as much RAM as I want?

  • Well, first of all your motherboard has to be compadible with your RAM, say if your getting DDR3 ram, your motherboard must be compadible with that, but of course there is a limit, you can only fit so many RAM's in your computer, and then it depends on how much memory they got.

  • go to crucial(dot)com

  • Hi dude, you forgot to connect a hard drive :)

Anyway this video is for housewife's :)

  • Does anyone know that the difference is between a pc2100 and a pc2700?

  • if i take out my old ram will all my computers memory be deleted?? respond somone!!!

  • no it won't

  • no, your memory is only for temporary storage for programs while your computer is running. all your data is stored on your hard drive itself.

  • if it fits in place fine your good to go =)

  • lmao thats like my ram that im about to install thanks

  • Many thanks for this vid.

  • I did just like you said and now my computer beeps long, and continuously. I took the new RAM I installed out and put the old RAM back in, and it won't stop beeping! My computer's fucked unless anyone here know what to do.

  • i had the same problem.. i was overloading the capacity of the motherboard. too much ram was in.

try lowering the amount thats in there.

  • When i push it in.. I need to press so hard and it still wont go in.. Like fuck...

  • maybe you have the wrong ram for your motherboard

  • No because It was already in like nice and everything. It worked. So i tried myself and still Its hard as hell to push in

  • my comouter has 256mb of ddr2 memory and i want 1 gig so does that mean i need to 512mg memory sticks?

  • what kind of screwdriver do i need none fit lol =/

  • holy crap! That's too easy! Thanks man :D

  • buddy how long do we haved to touch metal before install begins!!!!!!

  • after i put the memory do i have to reinstall windows or something? do i have to install any drivers?

  • no, when you upgrade your Ram you don't have to reinstall windows. A brand new hard drive to replace your old hard drive is a different story.

  • aight thats good

  • cool i just done like this lol

  • Would it be bad if I put RAM from an Older HP model to my Dell Desktop, they are both windows Xp

  • Thanks, dude. It was really helpful!

  • Very useful, thanks! :D

  • Turn on your pc first before you put back the side cover..if the memory doesn't work or if your pc keeps on beeping you can easily access the memory again..:-)

  • @rjdg33k That's what I did when I installed my video card in my 5 yr old desktop hahhaha.

  • can someone help i have a floppy drive blocking my slots and i don't know how to get it out of the way

  • Yeah but thare are some power supply that dosent have that Swich on the back.

Like DELL maschines. so Fore safety unplug the power :D cabble

  • You dont really need to unplug your computer if you installing anything.. all you have to do is go on the back of your PC and if your power supply has a little switch on the back you can just flip that and all power to your computer is off.

  • My computer has a warranty void at the side of the panel where i could slide off to install the RAM.Will it void my warranty if the seal is broken?

Mine is an ACER ASPIRE M1640.

  • LOL

  • hah, same here, thats the same exact model, thx =]

  • Lmao, this is very helpful, because this is the exact same model as my modem!!

  • Yeah a tutorial for buying should be nice.

There is like 20 different types of ram.

  • Perhaps if you could explain how to buy the memory stick. I have a ThinkCentre and I have no idea what those DDR and stuff mean for me.

Also, it would be totally awesome if you could post a tutorial on upgrading the integrated video card.

    Keep up the good work!

  • I didn't think it possible (in general terms) to upgrade an integrated laptop GPU.
