Every one has there opinions but honestly whatever your opinion may be it really doesn't matter because the info is out there so if his congregation doesn't have a problem with him then let it go because none of us has a heaven or hell to put him in or the right to judge that's between him is church and the God he serves...
I find it funny how everyone is criticizing Bishop Ben and they don't know the facts. One, he was wealthy BEFORE he became the pastor. Two, he didn't take the money, he doesn't touch the money, EVER! Three, the man preaches the word, leads people to the Lord, and gives to charity, whether it be houses, cars, money, whatever. So please, watch what you say about the man of God, not for his nor the church's sake, but for yours. God says touch not my anointing and do my prophets no harm.
The old way the people help pay for the church that church also is used by the people and the church members who help deliver the word of GOD, the priest and nuns all live in that housing. This is just wrong. For one, cameras are not allowed in the sanctuary. Two, I'm a member of this church and I'm not sure why this is important enough to make a featured story on the news! If doing charity work excuses ones lifestyle then I must legitimize the adult entertainment industry and companies that support Planned Parenthood since these groups also give to charity. I worked at DWO for close to 4 years while Pastor Jack was the pastor. I must admit, DWO has really ruined my views on how a good church should be. The politics involved were just ridiculous and VERY unnecessary. This report is a PRIME example of how good people can loose sight of whats important and take advantage of what is available. 3.5 Million dollars?!?! That money could have been spent on a USEFUL missions trip rather than a house. God help that church, they need it.

There are also plenty that do not but still have MORE THAN ENOUGH to be abundantly supplied for. You touch on the topic of a 'pastor living better than his flock' when in fact, you would be complaining at the same level if this story was about Bishop buying $3.6 Million houses for the congregation.
Lets look at the book of leviticus: 27: 30-34 ,"and god said to Moses all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the of the land, or of the fruit of the tree: it is holy unto the lord". . . . These are the commandments, which the lord commanded Moses for the childen of israel in mount Sinai". Now one of you so called christians show me anywhere that the bible commanded the church to pay tithes.
Isn't this book about the Temple or church, and how God wanted it ran? The Israelites were farmers and herdsmen, and this is why God said for them to set aside (as Holy for Him) a tenth of their harvest and every tenth of their animals. This was their form of payment or money, and the purpose of it was to take care of the temple (the church), and the priests or pastors who were its overseers, and the needs of the temple. No, the church didn't pay a tithe, but God did require it of His people.
If the staff at dwo are good stewards of their resources, and are able to purchase a 3.6 million dollar home, I wonder how many members are on section 8, or food stamps, or welfare?

I don't care that they paid for the house. I use to go to this church years ago before I moved to Grand Rapids back when Jack Wallace was pastor. However my concern is the church it self. The last time I was there they we're still paying off the church building.If the church building has been paid off since then fine, buy him 3.6 million dollar house. If not then they should've but him nice $300,000 home and invested the rest in the building til it's paid off.

Just received an e-mail from the "other" Bassist who played with DWO around the same time I did.
He gave me the link to this posting to see what I think about it. Other than some of his phrasings and tone of rhetoric, I have to concur with much that he wrote.
It's up to him if he wants to tell you his name, but no problem with me...My name is Douglas Johnson and I have no radical views of DWO, just left it for the same reasons my entire former bandmates and hundreds of other attendees who have departed DWO.

Satisfaction is found in the Lord (even in poverty) 1 Cor 4:11.
Jesus who was "spritually rich" in heaven became "spiritually" poor by becomming a man and dwelling among men.
He has taken mans sin, and become "spiritually poor" and made man spiritually rich by giving believers Gods grace from the penalty of sin that they were under.
Jesus did not become financially poor to make men financially rich. If that were the case then why did Paul write 1 Cor 4:11? Why were none of the Apostles rich men? And why was the early Church in so much poverty?

Psalms 37:4 is not an affirmation to paint God to be mans genie to give man whatever he wants.

This is just wrong. For one, cameras are not allowed in the sanctuary. Two, I'm a member of this church and I'm not sure why this is important enough to make a featured story on the news! I worked at DWO for close to 4 years while Pastor Jack was the pastor. I must admit, DWO has really ruined my views on how a good church should be. The politics involved were just ridiculous and VERY unnecessary. This report is a PRIME example of how good people can loose sight of whats important and take advantage of what is available. 3.5 Million dollars?!?! That money could have been spent on a USEFUL missions trip rather than a house. God help that church, they need it.

Isn't this book about the Temple or church, and how God wanted it ran? The Israelites were farmers and herdsmen, and this is why God said for them to set aside (as Holy for Him) a tenth of their harvest and every tenth of their animals. This was their form of payment or money, and the purpose of it was to take care of the temple (the church), and the priests or pastors who were its overseers, and the needs of the temple. No, the church didn't pay a tithe, but God did require it of His people.

The church is a good steward over its resources and helps thousands of families every year. Go to the church, watch it on the web pray over what you hear and then comment. If you read the Bible instead of listening to false teachings you will seriously see that this is how this man is suppost to be living. On top of that , he is suppose to be supported by the church. One thing the news doesn't tell you is that the collection plate is never passed in this church. Another thing they don't mention is that the congregation is BLESSED beyond measure. This is why they have a pastor that is so blessed because he is a blessing to them. It's not natural, it's spiritual.

The last time I was there they we're still paying off the church building.If the church building has been paid off since then fine, buy him 3.6 million dollar house. If not then they should've but him nice $300,000 home and invested the rest in the building til it's paid off.

2 SO WHAT HE'S A PASTOR!!! Shouldn't the man of God be blessed for what he is doing with the kingdom! I believe so.
Why can many famous live in a huge house, even so much bigger than his, and no one say anything about it? But when a pastor gets a huge house, it's suddenly a big deal.

This is not the GOD of the Bible. These pastors are making false promises to people. Being rich, they beg from the poor. While they live lavish, many in Detroit are without.

It is so dangerous. God blesses his people, so if you experience any of the normal losses or trials EVERYONE faces in life, you're either doing something wrong, or God is not keeping his promises...Maybe he doesn't exist. Maybe he's cruel.

The church doesn't only give 2 God if they want something back. If they did, why should God give them anything? DWO would be n a wrek if they did. You may want to study up on tithing.
In the OT the tithe was way more than 10%.
The tithe included:
- 10% every year was give to the Levite tribe.
-10% was given to the poor and fatherless.
-10% was given every 3rd year to perform the feasts and celebrations in Jerusalem.
- Instructions for harvesting your field.
- Shekel tax
-Tithes was never cash, always possessions.

Jesus who was "spritually rich" in heaven became "spiritually" poor by becomming a man and dwelling among men.
He has taken mans sin, and become "spiritually poor" and made man spiritually rich by giving believers Gods grace from the penalty of sin that they were under.
Jesus did not become financially poor to make men financially rich. If that were the case then why did Paul write 1 Cor 4:11? Why were none of the Apostles rich men? And why was the early Church in so much poverty?

Don't just keep putting scriptures down to find a fault with the church. Quit looking in from the outside, and come in, and you will see what he is really talking about.
