It is a 508 (508025) in its original 4 car formation. Pity that the door closing beeper is not very distinct with all the ambient noise from the hall (some of which is my voice).
If you want to know details of how it was made, it featured in a two-part article in British Railway Modelling magazine in 1998 if you can find copies.
The doors use Memory Wire to move them in pairs, and three out of the four coaches can be operated, each coach independently.
The 1st time I saw this I was amazed. It's fantastic to see. Many many thanks for showing me this, it's a fantastic piece of modelling.Well done :-) Kind regards.
There is another brief video of a set of doors working with the sounder audible on Photobucket. Search for 'Class 508' and you should find it. Unfortunately I don't have another copy to hand otherwise I would upload it here too.
if it did i would build one and with opening doors mate, i am in the middle of builing a beatties well tank witch is running on the bodmin and wenford railway!
Wow, nice one. If I'd love to build one of them brass kits, but don't think I'd do a very good job, then again have to start & learn some where I suppose :-). Cheers.
It's "OO". I think it'd look great what ever scale it's done in. Total blew me a way when I 1st saw it. Due to the back ground noise it's really had to hear the door warning buzzers. cheers.
if this is a 501 there was an article about it in british railway modeller magazine a few years ago about the use of memory wire for the doors.
