  • if this is a 501 there was an article about it in british railway modeller magazine a few years ago about the use of memory wire for the doors.

  • Not sure as i don't get that mag, but i reckon more than likely it'll be the one. Very impressive bit of modelling. Cheers.

  • I came across this by accident.

    Excellent Catch!

    5 Stars!

  • Yes it's a cracking piece of modelling this one. Cheers.

  • That is one amazing train! thanks for adding this video.

  • When I saw this , I knew it just had to be filmed.Cheers.

  • this is awsome,, lets hope bachmann start announcing more emus to add to their range :)

  • Me too, I'd like a 321 for starters then there's... I could go on & on!! Cheers.

  • Nice. How about the Glide-Slide doors on the 14x?

  • :-)

  • what about a 456, 421, 450/444 ,458

  • Lets all ask the RTR manufacturers if they can do any of these. Be great if they do.Cheers.

  • that looks cool with the opening doors

  • Good isn't it. Cheers.

  • Mind the gap!

  • :-) nice one mate I like it.Cheers :-)

  • struggling to work out which class that is

it looks like a 313 or 508 or one od those types based on mark 3

  • Maybe it's the 508, I'll need to check my ref books.Cheers.

  • It is a 508 (508025) in its original 4 car formation. Pity that the door closing beeper is not very distinct with all the ambient noise from the hall (some of which is my voice).

If you want to know details of how it was made, it featured in a two-part article in British Railway Modelling magazine in 1998 if you can find copies.

The doors use Memory Wire to move them in pairs, and three out of the four coaches can be operated, each coach independently.

  • The 1st time I saw this I was amazed. It's fantastic to see. Many many thanks for showing me this, it's a fantastic piece of modelling.Well done :-) Kind regards.

  • There is another brief video of a set of doors working with the sounder audible on Photobucket. Search for 'Class 508' and you should find it. Unfortunately I don't have another copy to hand otherwise I would upload it here too.

  • Okay, will check that out. cheers.

  • Very nice indeed.

Do you know what scale it's in? Is it 00, or 0?

  • OO, but looking at the track whilst there, i thought maybe EM gauge. Cheers.

  • great stuff mate, very interesting and impressive isnt it! 5*

  • Very much so, wonder how long it took to model this?? cheers.

  • good few months i expect

  • Cheers.

  • Cool I Wish They Would Do That With All Modern EMU's And DMU's That Have Plug or slide doors 5*

  • So do I cheers :-)

  • Wow, that would really bring any layout more to life than ever. Once again, 5* great vid.

  • Many thanks, it really would too, cheers.

  • Wow! Thats so cool!

  • Is this something that may appear in future ready to run models,in say 5 or 10 years from now?? How about it Hornby, Bachmann, Heljan, Dapol etc??

  • That is excellent! Next you will have claggin locos in oo!

  • I bet the guys who did this could maybe do that. Be awesome if they did.... then again would we need an extractor fan??....mmmmmm!! Cheers.

  • I had to look twice when I 1st saw this, was well impressed.Cheers.

  • that was brilliant top marks!

  • Can you imagen this in O gauge?? How cool would that be :-) Cheers.

  • if it did i would build one and with opening doors mate, i am in the middle of builing a beatties well tank witch is running on the bodmin and wenford railway!

  • Wow, nice one. If I'd love to build one of them brass kits, but don't think I'd do a very good job, then again have to start & learn some where I suppose :-). Cheers.

  • Ha ha, brilliant! Whatever next?

  • Good isn't it, cheers.

  • nice video 5*

  • Cheers mate, do you remember this one? Cheers.

  • yes I do. cheers

  • 5 star again good job

  • Cheers mate, more to be uploaded tomorrow.

  • thats cool, is that O gauge or OO?

  • It's "OO". I think it'd look great what ever scale it's done in. Total blew me a way when I 1st saw it. Due to the back ground noise it's really had to hear the door warning buzzers. cheers.
