Does any1 know if Microsoft Virtual PC can be install and run just fine in a Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bits? I visited the Microsoft website and apparently this OS is not listed in the supported operating systems for this software....
I have ubuntu and it stinks, I hate it. I dual boot it becaus I really wouldnt want to install a free system over my $100 vista basic. Its not worth it, not even with beryl download.
I'm running dual boot XP Pro/Ubuntu 7.10 and I love it. Using XP for games and for Delphi, and using Ubuntu for the rest (webdevelopment, internet, email, music, watching movies, downloading stuff, etc.)
So what stinks in Ubuntu then, in your opinion? And how could that be solved?
Well, its impossable to connect to the internet for one thing. It cant do games so why would I want it for my default main system? It isnt the most user friendly system ever, it comes with firefox wich I havent always liked, and its themes are kinds ugly. Can all this be solved or should I jsut stick with my vista. Beside I have been a Windows user seince 1995 when Windows 95 came out, its not easy to swich systems! Trust me on that!
Yeah I have Wireless internet. Dial up is old and like nobody uses it any more. I just installed kubuntu and its just as hard to connect to a wireless network, how in the heck do you do it? On windows you just click on connect to internet and choose your network and your good! But I cant figure it out with ubuntu or kubuntu.
Ah. Hmm.. I don't know much about wireless networks but there's an applet for connecting to wireless networks for the panels. You can probably find it if you go to the Synaptic package manager and search for 'wireless' or so.
As far as I know wireless stuff has all been implemented by now. There might be some wireless network card from companies who refuse to provide any help to linux developers though.
And now we must ask our selfs, at least me and belogio, why do we even want to use kubuntu and ubuntu if we cant connect to a wireless netwrok. Its just not the system I would use becaus of how impossable it is to connect. I can tell you all one thing andits hat im happy with my windows vista home basic (soon to be vista ultimate).
I' ve been using windows since 3.11 and now I run Ubuntu so i know that its hard in the beginning but once you have your internet running you'll find a lot of help there. There is an application called windows wireless drivers that you need to install the drivers for your wireless card.
I love Linux, it's safer and faster than windows and imho way better

I tried to install Ubuntu and SimplyMEPIS on Virtual PC, but with little luck before I just gave up.

It's hard to install linux on Virtual PC cuz the colors mess up always with KDE for me so instead i use VMware.

What the heck is this?
Anyway, it was sort of odd what you were doing, because the loading of Linux was more intersting then the actual program.
Also, get a mousepad.

"Well, its impossable to connect to the internet"
What do you use then, dial-up? Or some DSL-connection with specific settings? It works out of the box here, connected to my router via DHCP.
"It cant do games"
Yes you can. :) A lot work fine, some have even higher FPS than on Windows. Google for 'cedega games list' and click the first link.
"and its themes are kinds ugly."
Install Emerald, it's a great theme manager, there are even more than 5 vista themes in it.

jamiroquai no one is forzing you to change to ubuntu and if you want to stay with your stinking vista you can do it.
other good reason for linux is that it dosent eats all your ram memory. like vista does.
