  • Cool schecter!!!

  • @aqpforce ... Thanks, but it is a Paul Reed Smith (PRS) :)

  • goooooooooooood

  • You're a very good instructor and play very well.

  • Hahahaha love the Afro. (Amazing playing by the way). Faultless & a pretty cool lesson.

  • If I want to play this song live with one guitar, which solo do you suggest I play, the lower or the higher? As in the "normal" one or the harmony?

  • @BassMawla ... sorry for the delayed response. Personally, I would play the lower/normal part. Don't foget the tip I give at 3:21 which also helps when playing this live with only one guitar player.

  • Awesome thanks

  • you hve the looks the talen youre a whole SLASH !!!!!!!!!

  • Nice hair;)

  • My guitar is a strat type and I have 21 frets how can I play it like the original or I cant.

  • @6MasterYoda ... search through the comments for the answer :)

  • great job and you have a prs! awesome!

  • another great lesson, thanks a lot!

  • tabs? :D

  • Great lesson! Have you ever thought about doing a lesson on the main solo? That would be awesome!

  • I knew you :-)

still you are doing Big sense in Guitar teaching

    keep it up

can you also teach a christian song's solo?

    God Bless

  • as soon as i got a guitar this song started playing through my head. the sound of that the guitar in that song is amazing, i must learn to play it!

  • Awesome...just awesome.. and with the hair too.. this is the best i have found to teach my son with. thank you very much for the tab and the slow downs for us noobs.

  • O_o Slash¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • thanks men

    saludos desde mexico

  • puta madre tengo solo 21 trastes :(

  • slash cagao O:?

  • love this lesson

  • @EPICLAWLTV ...ouch! keep rockin!

  • @PDXguitarfreak Hey man great lesson i am up to 80% of regular speed but getting better every time. maybe you like a song by Michael Schenker : there has to be another way. I've been trying to find a tab for it but no luck maybe you know how to play it and if you upload it i am pretty sure i can learn it from you. LOL. Thanks for the good lessons for us novices like @DovoodooMiracleman . says..

  • Is there a certain tuning my guitar should be for this? I have a 21 fret guitar and it always sounds wrong on the higher notes. Or is there someway I should set up my amp?

  • @tom1161 maybe because you only have 21 frets and you need 22, try bending the 21st note until your ear tells you when its 22nd fret.

  • @44Blitz44 ... you are correct he needs at least 22 frets. Without the 22nd fret, you can't play several sections in the main solo. One alternative would be to take each of the sections where the 22nd fret is played, and transpose it down 12 frets. For example, instead of playing the 22nd fret, you would play the 10th. Instead of playing the 21st fret, you would play the 9th, etc. Of course, it will sound different because you are playing one octave lower, but at least you would be in tune.

  • your really are a good teacher...doing a good thing for us novices...master! Lovin it man...what software are you using to go slomo without lowering down the pitch???

  • @DovoodooMiracleman ..thanks man! I'm using Sony Vegas Movie Studio for this one. As for the other video you commented on, that was done a very long time ago using Windows Movie Maker. Sony Vegas is 1000x better... of course, it's not free though :)

  • @PDXguitarfreak but it can be :)

  • @DovoodooMiracleman ... sorry I forgot to answer this question. First, thank you for the nice words. Second, I am using Sony Vegas software (in this video, the $99 version).

  • Great! Thank you! In 7:14 where it's written fret 20 on 5th string you play 22 right?

  • @miiirskiii ...wow, thank you for catching that, my friend! I can't believe no one else has noticed after almost 10,000 views. I have added the note on the screen to fix it. Thank you!!!

  • @PDXguitarfreak well, I've got ears lol. Just wanted you to know =)

  • Why does mine sound nothing like it :(

    On the high notes anyway.

  • @tom1161 ...this solo is all about getting "the feel" right. Do you have Windows Media Player? If yes, you can go to Now Playing --> Enhancements --> Play Speed Setting to slow down the song for practicing. Whenever I learn a solo that I can't get the feel or speed right immediately, I always use this method to slow down the song and learn it slow first. As you get comfortable at a slow speed, start turning up the speed incremently until you get it down at the normal speed.

  • @PDXguitarfreak hey this vid is awesome, im trying to slow it down further also. I have windows media player but cant find the 'now playing" button!!!

  • @GuitarLordChels ...hmmmm, you might have an older (or newer?) version of Media Player. You might have to use the Help function in Media Player to find it.

  • UUUUhhhhmmm.... my guitar stops at fret 21...plus it sounds too awfully high-pitched even if I play on the 21th one. Little help?

  • @xallanx12 ... someone else left a comment that they only had 21 frets too and needed help. Please look through my replies for the response. Good luck and don't give up!

  • @PDXguitarfreak I looked through all the comments but I cant find anything about 21 frets? I am having the same problem, what do I do D:

You are extremely good by the way, is that your real hair? :P

  • I'm 44 and I've been playing for 4-years now and I think your solo lessons with tabs are the best on You Tube. Please keep them coming. Did you do the main solo for Rock You Like a Hurricane? Your friend in PRS.

    Chris

  • @gerdeywii ... Hi Chris, my original plan was to also do a lesson for the main solo, but I just have not had time. Rock on!

  • Comment removed

  • I want to be your padawan. Stay in tune and rock like a huricane !

  • can you do the solo wery slow next time?

  • @superjonte123 ..then next time I do a guitar lesson, I will try to have the slow examples slower :)

  • nice hair xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • hey man i really like all of ur vids could you please do a tutorial for the hotel california solo thanks :D

  • hey!!!

    you're the best!!!

can you make a solo tutorial of this song?

  • could you do a lesson on the solo for hotel california??? pleassssssssse

  • @g1u1i1t1a1r1i1s1t ... I would, but last time I did a video for Hotel California it got removed by YouTube and I got a strike on my account. The publishing group that owns the rights to the song don't like to see covers. Sometimes they get through, and sometimes they get removed. Sorry man!

  • I still didn´t see this one ... man, great tutorial!!! I had the luck to see the Scorpions several times in Germany. 1979 the first time - Lovedrive Tour, one of three shows still with Michael Schenker!!! I can tell you ... live ... they blow your head off!

  • @rushyeskansas ... ah yes, I saw them in 88 on the US Monsters of Rock tour... Van Halen, Scorpions, Metallica, Dokken, Kingdom Come... Scorpions had such a crisp clean sound :)

  • Nice Tutorial..

    Oh yeah, nice haircut man!

    ROCK ON!

  • hey this is awesome, are you thinking of uploading the main solo tutorial?

  • Unbelievable... you're in my head... I was just try'n ta figure this out last night ! This is gonna help A LOT !! Thanks man ... Bitchen...

  • Wicked stuff!! This is probably the best guitar tutorial that I have seen on YouTube...

  • Awesome as always! For how long have you played guitar and why did you become so interested in music, anyways? :)

  • @unholypig .. I have been playing since November 1983... but it is not the years that matter, it is the commitment and time. I am not much better than I was 20 years ago, because now I play 2 hours a week instead of 4 hours a day LOL. As for my initial interest.... it is hard to remember, but I just love music and knew that playing guitar would make me "cool" to other kids LOL. :)

  • @PDXguitarfreak

I understand what you mean. I started with music 10 years ago and it's the best thing that happened in my life :) I'm not nearly as good as you but i still love to practice and get better for each day! Well keep on rockin' and keep uploading great videos! :)

  • Awesome!!

  • @Nuttsu19 thanks!!!

  • Finally, some who cares and slows the video down for the rest of us. You are a great teacher. I will tell everyone about your site.

  • @Finom1 ..thanks again! :)

  • which video software do you use? :O

  • @RockHailand ... I use Sony Vegas Movie Studio. For a complete listing of my gear and brief overview of my recording technique, please see the Q&A on my main channel page. If you have questions, I will try and answer :)

  • @PDXguitarfreak your videos are awesome :O

  • Hi,Dave-San!!

A cool opening and a kind content of the lesson are always thought very well.

It is likely to serve as a reference very much for the guitar freak in the world.

  • Great lesson, bro. I always butchered the opening with a combo of the actual solo and my lazy fillers. Now I have no excuse not to learn the correct runs.

  • Guitar tabs? Wow. You are really doing us fellow guitarfreaks a service with your videos, PDX. You keep taking your fun to higher and higher levels.

  • A counter point to the first part, just an idea. Shenker would sometimes play the fifth fret of the B + the open E string together as a chord, to give a bigger, naturally chorused sound when they'd play it live.

  • @PDXguitarfreak you gotta make one of the main solo, thanks to you i learned the stairway to heaven solo, I even put the link of you teaching it in the description in the cover i did

  • Love the green screen background, as much as your playing.

  • 0:36 - O_o

  • well done! your time is much appreciated to spell all this out!

  • Great work thanks for the lesson , I could watch you all day with these great videos !!! Wayne

  • awesome tutorial man! by any chance is it possible for you to send me the tabs, please?

    -Evan.

  • @deathblade7 do you have the Powertab software? That is the format that I use.

  • @PDXguitarfreak yes i do have a powertab software :D

  • @deathblade7 great, you can find great tabs at ultimate-guitar . com

  • @PDXguitarfreak alright thanks for the info. all the best.

  • @deathblade7 ... ok, the version at ultimate-guitar . com is really good... appears to be same notes as mine.

  • @PDXguitarfreak alright thanks so much, im gonna go check the out now.

  • hey brutha! That was awesome! thanks for the lesson!

  • Love the lesson Dave!! I'm thinking of doing a tutorial of Rock You Like A Hurricane solo tutorial soon too!!

  • cool lesson!

  • thanks! gonna work on it

  • i mean really helps
