  • Today I saw one while driving on the m6

  • The day after my birthday. :)

  • I would be so scared if the moon appeared closer

  • I love Nasa....

  • NO, I missed it! : (

  • Jennifer Lopez gets 300million views, this gets one million views. Our society is fucked...

  • i dont get it, if the moon enters perigee once every orbit why would the extra high tide of the "super" moon be special. I mean a new moon at perigee will cause extra high tides also right?

  • why the hell i'm watching this?

  • Full moon right now. It looks just like the supermoon did back in march

  • I observed the Super Moon with Annie - a girl so bright and beautiful that she was, in effect, an earthly lunar eclipse herself that night. That's just fine, there's always 2029.

  • @KavePhish You make me want to experience that myself.

  • That's not a super moon, where's it's cape?

  • i wanted to mute this so bad

  • if I can capture pitcures and videos of space landscape, I can make many money. becuz no one does it. stupid richs in the world must die.

  • this guy sounds like Cleaveland Brown...LOL

  • @Cochlioda

Not Cleveland Brown, but the other guy from Family Guy that offers self-help classes at the school.

  • when i saw the moon i was the normal size

  • HAHA yeah a couple of months ago PRETTY CLOSE AFTER THE SUPER MOON..........BAM earthquake and Sunami NAIL JAPAN EXPLAI THAT lol

  • the astrologers predicted it to be wrong. Sadly no huge tight ever occured at least to my knowledge.

  • Interesting to think the of the moon's gravity is stronger as it veers closer and then farther away at perigee, and massaging the earth's crust to the point of an earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

  • @mergatroidal The moon's gravity is far too weak to do that. If you want to see an example of a planet's gravity massaging the crust of it's moons you should look at Io and Europa.

  • ssssssseven sssssory sssoldiers were ssssadly sssssodimisssssed by sssssaddam husssssainssss sssssssavage sssssoldiers

  • Scary...............

  • I missed it cuz i was playing black ops

  • Where is 1:23 at? REALLY NEED TO KNOW!

  • It'sssssss Bruuuuuucccccccceeeee

  • the suggestion that it would cause natural disasters is a depressing example of the way conspiracy theorists are oblivious to science. the moon is not closer than it's been in 2 decades, just closer than it's been in 2 decades while the side facing us has been lit.

  • for it was megamoon.

  • Super Moon my ass, remove the fcking chemtrails and show what's really it is.

  • Gay jokes. We get it.

  • Your voice is very annoying

  • Is that the teacher from Beavis and Butthead?

  • Boring

  • mmmm, your voice and accent <3

  • I can't believe I totally ignored this. I had this telescope right next to me.

  • thhsuupur mooonnn es fabuloussss

  • Low hanging moons look unnaturally large? I'm sorry this is just too much fun!

  • That's a very nice super moon you have there it be a shame if something were to happen to it ssssssssssssssssss

  • That a super-duper super full moon. My, wasn't that a big one!

  • SSSuper Duper Super Full Moon!!

  • Doesss this video make my thighsss look big? SSSuper...

  • I ran outside and jumped up and the moon got closer

  • Bodily harm will occur if you try and touch it, apparently.

  • so to sum it all up tha moon i closer to tha earth.......... y science gotta b so damn complicated..........

  • Friday, Friday, kickin moons on Friday. ...

  • Yay ya ya i get it but who put the thing up there in the first place? Why was the super Moon red over Washington D.C.? who turnd the moon Red? and Who took the water away from under the5 Ships all at the same time and left them there? • on the 19th thus month i was totally stoked to watch it in Canada... it was cloudy

  • Lol. I thought he said Science.nasa.gay

  • Full moons can attract tide..so does your soul..it is quite true. When you are looking at full moon do you realize that your feeling somehow strange..like some kind of feeling missing something or what..no wonder the werewolf turned into a creature when the moon turns into full moon.

  • great video!

    See the moon from Brasil:

    watch?v=9J0Hpwg-v9U

  • Is the moon ever gonna hit the earth? because its getting close to it?

  • Everybody knows that bigger is better.

  • i think the tides caused the tsunami in japan...despite wat this guy says

  • I think they were off by a month. Because exactly February 18, 2011 The moon was CRAZY huge! I posted of Facebook and a lot of others saw it too!. This past weekend it looked like any other moon.

  • now i know at 49, thank you for sharing

  • Talk abt Harvest Moon . But at da wrong season ! ( :

  • The data about the last time for an extreme supermoon was Mach 1993, (NOT 1983) in which an extreme super snowstorm on the US east cost took place, better known as the storm of the century. NASA Science has not done their homework on this.

► The Pyrgos earthquake in western Greece (26 March 1993)

► March 13, 1993 US Snow Storm of the Century...

►50 inches - Mount Mitchell, NC

    ►47 inches - Grantsville, MD

    ►44 inches - Snowshoe, WV

    ►43 inches - Syracuse, NY

  • @SolarStormWarning tht's a lot of data

  • The narrator sounds like Kenneth from 30 Rock! Like if you agree!

  • Who's narrating this......Stefon?

  • isnt this when japans tsunami came >.> march 13 WTF

  • @zeejenkins The super moon was on the 19th. Also was triggered by an earthquake, not a physical push from a super moon.

  • @emissionNebulae oh ok my bad :S

  • thx for letting me know... too late now

  • Very cool! Thank you.

  • omg, your voice is frickin retarded!

  • @acod97 I bet hes a shitload smarter than you too! ;)

  • I bet the narrator has a very sore bottom.

  • bruce from family guy

  • I turned into a werewolf last night.......Needless to say my balls were nice and clean this morning

  • Omg..are you that guy From family guy who always says OWH NEUUW...?!

  • Haha! You mean Bruce!! Aohhwww Naaaaaoowww. I think you're right, it's gotta be him.

  • You mean March 1993? Idiots.

  • saw the moon last night and it was huge and beautiful

  • you want the moon go watch me grab it ;) - Far East Movement

  • Not my favorite narrator. Not that there's anything wrong with him . . .

  • Yeah cuz I was really gonna reach out and try to grab it..

  • Oh god, that voice over was nauseatingly irritating.

  • elliptical orbit (correction)

  • Hey guys.. The moon is completing an orbit every 27 days (or so). So every 27 days the moon was as close and as far (perigee and apogee) at some point during that month. So please find another source for disaster as it is the same every month. The only difference is the illumination angle (creating full moon , new moon, quarter, etc.) - the moon is on an elipical orbit and goes close and far every month.

  • the moon did NOT cause the earthquake in Japan , because it was still 400,000 km away .

  • @dambam1000 I Think the moon did play a role in the japan quake/tsunami, they warned us that there could be disaters and they was right. The moon has a huge gravity pull on earth whitch can sometimes cause earthquakes.

  • @CheifSmokinDank The moon has a big impact on earth and it causes earthquakes ,but most of the times it happens when there is a solar eclipse.in Japan earthquakes happen all the time due to the moving of the ground not because of the moon.

  • @CheifSmokinDank you are very wrong my good sir how on this earth could a super perigee have effect on something that happened over a week before it.

  • @xxMILOTICRULEZxx Well we all have our own opinions, but i think the moon played a vital role in japans WORST earthquake/tsunami. As i said the moon has a strong gravity pull maybe causing these plates to rub against each other. I just think its strange that earthquakes was predicted a week before the japan one even happened.

  • it was march of 1993 not 1983

  • TEEx3BABi13 your retared

  • i been telling everyone about this, u make me feel smart

  • isnt this why all the earth quakes and naturals disasters are happinging!

  • nasa is the best wew

  • Nice video guys

  • hold on, was it 15% bigger than the apogee, or than "normal?" Because I would imagine "normal" is somewhere in-between, and nearly indistinguishable with the naked eye from the other two.

  • I saw it last night and it looked like a regular full moon but that that orange color that it sometimes has.

  • the narator sounds like he likes them big moons(cough)...

  • @DraGGos that made me laugh out loud....not exactly a movie trailer voice over huh?

  • @briandavie yea :)))

  • @DraGGos ... Yeah, I kinda noticed that too. lol

  • @DraGGos ... Yeah, I kinda noticed that too. lol

  • スーパーや!(・ ω ・)/

  • nasa lie....1983 and 2008 was not super moon...2005 was a super moon day...

  • The normal moon is useless now.

  • Error: The last super moon at 14% was in March of 1993, not 1983. Looks like NASA made a mistake?

  • uh-oh tartarus.. :D

  • gurrrrl

  • Say hello to Bruce from Family Guy...

  • it's fucking cloudy:(

  • is it just me or did he sound gay

  • @bobwatermellon he kinda sounded like the gay dude from family guy XD

  • @deathbylawndart1 no kidding. that was painful

  • this is really an amazing videos. We wont get chance to see such a wonderful moon. Despite of several predictions and fear finally people got an riskless and fearless opportunity to view the supermoon.Scientists were predicting that something bad will happen to the earth. They even told that due to the supermoon earthquake in Japan occured. Everywhere there was threat but now we all feel secure and enjoy the full moon i.e. surpermoon. It was awesome to see the moon and different tan other day.

  • @cubedge1

Which scientists? where did you get your info? I am very interested in what you said and would like to read more if you don't mind citing your sources.

  • is an amazing thing that only happens every 20 years, one has to admire the moon is its maximum splendor.

  • GREAT!

  • GREAT!

  • well too bad in winterpeg all we got was a cloudy sky all fuckin night

  • it was shillen

  • epic

  • @KybaHaus Exceptional Footage; Very Nice.

  • @KybaHaus cool vid

  • i love science..:)

  • this guy sounds like kip from Napoleon Dynamite

  • nothing special.

  • i saw it last nite im in singapore

  • is it friday or saturday. CNN said it was on saturday???

  • Wonderfull....Thanks Nasa. I did enjoy the "Super Moon"

  • Someone please explain to me how if this has not happened since 1983, that was almost 20 years ago?

  • @skllStitches Two events have to coincide: 1) full moon (moon directly opposite the sun from earth) and 2) perigee (moon passing through the closest point in its orbit of earth). Usually they happen at different times in the lunar month.

  • so cool! god i love this stuff!

  • There is a supermoon in california. I think.

  • @DatMangoSentinel Yes, in spite of everything, California is still on the surface of the earth.

  • @Hugh7777

my bad the whole earth has a supermoon.

    you happy?

  • @Hugh7777 For now.

  • I can see it every few minutes or so through the clouds here in California. Wow it's bright :D

  • @TylerDurdenMakesSoap Nah, lived in the Philippines. So I can still see it tonight? Hmm, that's good :) Thanks.

  • Lovely , great view

  • its very interesing, thanks for the date
