i dont get it, if the moon enters perigee once every orbit why would the extra high tide of the "super" moon be special. I mean a new moon at perigee will cause extra high tides also right?
I observed the Super Moon with Annie - a girl so bright and beautiful that she was, in effect, an earthly lunar eclipse herself that night. That's just fine, there's always 2029.
Interesting to think the of the moon's gravity is stronger as it veers closer and then farther away at perigee, and massaging the earth's crust to the point of an earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
@mergatroidal The moon's gravity is far too weak to do that. If you want to see an example of a planet's gravity massaging the crust of it's moons you should look at Io and Europa.
the suggestion that it would cause natural disasters is a depressing example of the way conspiracy theorists are oblivious to science. the moon is not closer than it's been in 2 decades, just closer than it's been in 2 decades while the side facing us has been lit.
Yay ya ya i get it but who put the thing up there in the first place? Why was the super Moon red over Washington D.C.? who turnd the moon Red? and Who took the water away from under the5 Ships all at the same time and left them there? Must have been the same Guy that put the moon up there.was this video made at the blue pearl in frisco.
Full moons can attract tide..so does your soul..it is quite true. When you are looking at full moon do you realize that your feeling somehow strange..like some kind of feeling missing something or what..no wonder the werewolf turned into a creature when the moon turns into full moon.
I think they were off by a month. Because exactly February 18, 2011 The moon was CRAZY huge! I posted of Facebook and a lot of others saw it too!. This past weekend it looked like any other moon.
The data about the last time for an extreme supermoon was Mach 1993, (NOT 1983) in which an extreme super snowstorm on the US east cost took place, better known as the storm of the century. NASA Science has not done their homework on this.
► The Pyrgos earthquake in western Greece (26 March 1993)
My dad was like. Hey come and look at the moon. And i was like who the fuck cares about the fucki.. OMG ITS HUGE! And my dad was sitting there with his dick in his hand saying. Thats what your mother said.
So why isn't next year's May 6th perigee / full moon super? Is it because of it being 376km further way? According to the lunar calculator referenced on NASA's "Super Moon" page, it is actually closer in time (2 minutes!) than this year's (59 minutes).
Hey guys.. The moon is completing an orbit every 27 days (or so). So every 27 days the moon was as close and as far (perigee and apogee) at some point during that month. So please find another source for disaster as it is the same every month. The only difference is the illumination angle (creating full moon , new moon, quarter, etc.) - the moon is on an elipical orbit and goes close and far every month.
@dambam1000 I Think the moon did play a role in the japan quake/tsunami, they warned us that there could be disaters and they was right. The moon has a huge gravity pull on earth whitch can sometimes cause earthquakes.
@CheifSmokinDank The moon has a big impact on earth and it causes earthquakes ,but most of the times it happens when there is a solar eclipse.in Japan earthquakes happen all the time due to the moving of the ground not because of the moon.
@xxMILOTICRULEZxx Well we all have our own opinions, but i think the moon played a vital role in japans WORST earthquake/tsunami. As i said the moon has a strong gravity pull maybe causing these plates to rub against each other. I just think its strange that earthquakes was predicted a week before the japan one even happened.
hold on, was it 15% bigger than the apogee, or than "normal?" Because I would imagine "normal" is somewhere in-between, and nearly indistinguishable with the naked eye from the other two.
this is really an amazing videos. We wont get chance to see such a wonderful moon. Despite of several predictions and fear finally people got an riskless and fearless opportunity to view the supermoon.Scientists were predicting that something bad will happen to the earth. They even told that due to the supermoon earthquake in Japan occured. Everywhere there was threat but now we all feel secure and enjoy the full moon i.e. surpermoon. It was awesome to see the moon and different tan other day.
