Although the phrasing a !little! too legato for me, this is one of my favorites of this piece. Congratualtions! Make it ever so slighly more staccato, well not staccato, but less legato is best way to put it. Brava!
Cette merveilleuse version du Fandango m'en rappelle une autre entendue il y a 2 ans, près de Forcalquier, à Dauphin, avec accompagnement à l'orgue. Suis-je loin du compte?
Are you rushing for a world record or what? There was still room for at least another 2'30". Technically it can be fine but I am missing the soul and tension in the music. Still well done especially as a piece for an exam!
I frequently compare Puyana's recording with that of Andreas Staier. Puyana's is much and more grand and on his huge Hass. Staier seems to feel the piece in a giant ONE beat per measure of 3/4. I like both of them.
Yes I guess I have some 29 versions of the piece and everyone of them have some nice aspects or just a tiny detail that is precious. The crazy thing is that no-one gives a real improvisation to continue the piece in the two chord bassline which is expected very much. I guess classical educated people don't feel the urge to follow their creativity but are mainly focused on the technical performance. Still it is magic and my favorite tune indeed.
If you follow the score it does seem the Puyana improvises a bit here and there. Then he does the strange thing of bringing back the beginning at the end thereby changing the whole nature of the sudden cutoff of the piece on the V chord. (I don't like it but I LOVE the rest of that recording).
Other weird version: Bob Von Asperen. Glad to find another Fandango fanatic on-line!
There must be a lot of Fandango-fanatics I guess. There is a Scott Ross performance of the Fandango all the way on the internet (more than 10 minutes) not on YouTube but I am sure you will find it on google. I am very fond of the Elsbieta Chojnacka performance on a Sperrhake and the one by Jonathan Woods.
Worst case scenario Sophie Yates. The Puyana will always be a favorite because it was the first one I heard 30 years ago and it still moves me. Mrlena gives a fine performance too.

I heard a version by Maggie Cole .......
Absolutely fantastic. She plays it like Maria Callas sang.... as if she has just invented it...
