Hi, my dear friend! If one of your families or friends is deaf or hearing-impaired, I recommend you a good site called DeafMatching, com. It is the most trusted and largest community for deaf, ASL and hearing-impaired. There people can find those who share their values and life experiences, look for friendship, relationship, love and more. I’m glad if this is useful to you.
I am a member of the deaf community. I am consider oral. I use verbal language quite frequently because I live in a hearing world. I also sign. If I sign to a hearing person they won't understand a lot of the time. If I am talking to another member of the community though I generally do not use my voice. I have trouble hearing myself so I have some issues enunciating words clearly or correctly. I prefer sign.
...can talk them they can read lips and "hear" the other person. Not true! Just because someone voices for themselves they still need ASL to understand the other person...
FYI: Sean Berdy can talk verbally. Many Deaf can even if they mostly sign. If they went to school here in the US they would get speech therapy, even at a Deaf School. The reason why many Deaf CHOOSE to not speak is because they can't hear themselves and to monitor their voice, intonation, pitch, and trying to make EVERY sound intelligible is no easy feat. It requires a tremendous amount of work to have just a basic conversation. Also, the problem with speech is hearing people think if they can
wow sean berdy is soooooooo hot i love how he acts in switched at birth but i also love is voice when we talks if you dont believe check switched at birth season 1 episode 10 part 3 8:37 - 8:42 from user xmrah9
I'm not sure if thats his true voice or not, hes said he "talks" but ive never seen him really, i think they voiced that prt into the movie. Correct me if im wrong but thats what im thinking
@MegaQuazer No he said himself he really spoke. He also screamed in "Sandlot 2". He can talk I think he just doesn't do it much. Plus if you watch his throat when he mouths words there isn't much movement...when he speaks vocally you can see his throat muscles moving. I was curious if it was his voice before he said it was and that was the only way I could think to do it...
What you need to know is many deaf people also talk some don't like to use there voice fear, shyness, a lot of things that just make them choose not to use voice.I had a lot of hearing problems when I was a chid (24 now). I still freeze up when I am talking people and I have any words I am trying say that have R's in them I will just say that word way faster to get it done why I am shy to post video up too. My dad's gf her daughter who is my age is deaf she don't like use her voice she is shy.
