@Lundvalnaden
Rotoscoping is drawing over real footage. Feel freedom of creativity.

poklar 3 years ago

Nice use of Synfig! Never thought of it as a digital effects program. Are there any other types of effects one could do to video footage with Synfig?

there is not so much effects. But very strong core and nice plugin api. So if you extend synfig features it can be true replacement for things like Adobe AfterEffects
Did you convert the video to a png stream with cinelerra so synfig can edit it?
Because I tried exporting as a png stream with cinelerra and I got each individual frame as a png instead of one png stream file

ffmpeg -i myvideo.dv frame%04d.png
or
mplayer -vo png -ao null myvideo.dv
I had used jpeg sequence exporter from kino
Cinelerra can do sequence exporting too. I'm had exported video to png and then encoded it with ffmpeg to put it here.
Thanks for the reply.
I tried using kino and mplayer but all I get are hundreds and hundreds of still image files; is that what's supposed to happen?
yes. One frame = one image.
Wow. That's pretty impressive you did all that.
very well done. how long did this project take to complete? Just the masking for the fingers seems like it would take a long time itself.

about 4 hours for rotoscoping and 2 hours to experements with color, rendering and editing.
