the new series is terrible in comparison to this! The new series is hust a bunch of mellow drama and nasty special effects. The original explored themes to do with society! The current series is like watching the "Bold and the beautiful".

In the first mini-series Faye Grant´s character and others sent a signal into space where they hoped it would be recieved by ancient enemies of the visitors(a race that had defeated them before)!

It is more likely that they would come and help the resitnance OR they might prove worse forcing enemies to become allies actually that would be a more captivating story for obvious reasons!

I've got The Second Generation book by Kenneth Johnson. Midway through it. Very grim in places, but full of action and suspense. Donovan's in it, too, but not in the way you'd expect. Johnson is even thinking about making it into a movie. Now THAT would be awesome, instead of this V remake.

The book is actually set 20 years after the events of the '83 mini-series. Kenneth Johnson omitted The Final Battle and the 1984/85 series because he had nothing to do with them.

I've actually been enjoying it. It does have its faults, but it's still a darn good read.

aye, although i had the same frustration with BSG, at least the remake of BSG had great music, however im unimpressed with the music im hearing from the new series.franchises need to learn music is 80% of a movie/tv show, much like terminator franchise wich is tanking after removing brad fidels soundtrack and star trek and james bond for removing thier original soundtracks. Music continuity is everything. At least Lucas and spielberge have that sense with starwars/indy.

Plus, this piece of music is not the ORIGINAL V theme anyway - it was used for the 3-part sequel "The Final Battle" - the original V theme was an orchestral score by Joe Harnell. The theme in this video was then dumped when the weekly series started.

Okay, the V saga in its *proper* chronological order is as follows: The Original Miniseries, V: The Final Battle and V: The Weekly Series.

The Second Generation is Kenneth Johnson's continuation from where the Original Series left off (completely disregarding The Final Battle and the weekly series). Set 20 years after the invasion, it continues the story with the Visitors still in control of the planet.

The theme for the opening credits made a good signature for "V: The Final Battle". Nevertheless, it doesn't match Joe Harnell's scores in the original V that were more in line with the vision of Kenneth Johnson.

As a hardcore V fan, I regret to say, in hindsight, that everythig V-related beyond the original mini series does not stand the test of time... Thums up for the Second Generation mini series!!!
